Most of the night had been spent with Zara lying awake, staring at the ceiling. She was having a hard time processing the day before. She had been so certain that there was something between her and Luci. She couldn’t believe that the electricity between them could be faked. And yet, once they were alone, they fell back into a professional relationship, being cordial and polite to each other. Which had confused her, but after hours of thinking about it, she could only come up with the fact that it was the situation. That they were both just good at acting, plus her own emotions were running high with having to be so close to Preston. It had meant that she felt like she had barely slept, which meant that the pillow to the face was not welcome wake up call. She frowned up at Luci, ready to shout at her, before hearing the knocks, and realising what she meant. Scrambling up, she slipped into the bed, making sure there was barely any room between them as she informed whoever was knocking to come in. Of course, it had to be her ex-husband. “You two slept in, everyone is waiting at breakfast.” He practically sneered at them, taking in the mess of a room, the blanket she slept with on the floor, with the pillow now down the side of the couch. She hoped that it looked more like they had been busy in the room rather than she had slept on the couch. Nodding, she yawned. As the door shut, she flopped backwards onto the bed, rolling onto her side, facing Luciana. “Well, shit.” She giggled slightly, clearly not too concerned that they nearly got caught out on the second day.
Letting out a sigh of relief as Zara finally got into the bed, she tried to make it look as realistic as possible. Wrapping an arm around her waist, Luci rested her head onto the woman’s chest and looked at the door as they just made it. It opened to reveal the one person she didn’t want to see, causing her to roll her eyes and cover her face up with the blanket. She didn’t want to admit how comfortable this position was, even though it had barely been a whole minute since they did it. Trying to hold back the snicker as neither one of them vocally responded, Luci poked her head out as the door shut, giggling quietly. Zara rolled over and Luciana reluctantly let go of her, but kept the space between them very minimal. “Sorry for the pillow. I had no clue who was out there and wasn’t about to get caught on the second day.” She smiled, adoring the sight of a sleepy Zara Nieves. It was way cuter than she could have ever imagined. Actually, everything so far was way cuter than she could have ever imagined. She was convinced before the trip that her boss didn’t have an ounce of cute in her, but boy was she wrong. “Let’s wait a few,” she whispered, mainly because she wasn’t ready to move away from the warmth that was radiating between them. “I don’t want to give him the satisfaction that he made us panic or whatever.” Smiling, she shrugged and stretched, trying to subtly move a little bit closer to Zara in the bed. “Also, sorry, but I don’t know what you saw in him. He’s a bit of a dick and I like to annoy him.” Closing her eyes momentarily, Luciana yawned. “And apparently he likes to annoy me by staring at you all the time and literally following you places. Like, honestly, what the fuck?” She didn’t mean to speak it, considering they were alone and she just admitted that the annoyance definitely wasn’t part of the plan and she actually couldn’t stand being around him. Realizing that getting up meant the two could be a “couple” again, Luci was suddenly very excited for breakfast. Opening her eyes, she cleared her throat and slowly sat up. “Guess we should get ready, yeah?”
