There were six distinct sounds the mornings of each Guerra birth. Lucien’s just so happened to be glass shattering.
Like his oldest brother, Alastair; Lucien never cared for the Guerra surname. Be it an actual dislike for his bloodline, he’d never been able to tell. Alastair and Lucien had a mutual respect for each other but that was through careful and considerate manipulation. For a spell, Lucien was his guinea pig and did so without posing a fight, but as they grew, he learned his brother’s intentions were never for his benefit. The scars were deceivingly permanent, both physically and mentally but Alastair wasn’t the only one to cause a rift in the youngest Guerra and he certainly wasn’t the last.
His father was abusive. His mother, negligent. Treated their children like business associates and demanded they treat each other with the same respect. Raised to never question, just obey but only if there was a large sum of money involved. They were taught different occupations that would set them apart from each other. The only thing they actually shared was the same household.
Lucien’s involvement with his family was, frankly, obligational but no short of beneficial. He and Lucille took their lessons and created what their parentage never thought they’d accomplish.
Of course, in the world of fashion, if you weren’t a model or a designer, you weren’t of any real importance— but that’s what they wanted you to focus on. The dull, vapid life of a journalist and his editor-in-chief of a sister. Filthy rich and isolated, it was an easy cover for the horrors happening just below the surface.
Behind the glitz and the glamour his twin sister painted for them, Lucien’s only other interest was behind the trigger of a gun. Bloodlust became second nature. His first kill had been at the age of eleven, a gardener that worked on his family’s estate. By twenty, he was one of the top male assassins in the world. He took out rival gang leaders, foreign presidential candidates over the years and most recently, did his part in the deadliest mass shooting in Las Vegas.
His interest in crime skyrocketed and had ultimately landed him in Lakewood after word from his niece’s involvement with one of four cartels. The Stone’s were an obvious choice but there had always been a game plan in Lucien’s mind. Working his way up the ranks diligently and keeping his loyalties clear, his interest in the cartel had been for no other reason to beat out his older brothers for the atrocities they’d committed when they were younger, including killing their second youngest brother, Lorenzo. Be it a sibling rivalry or something deeper like revenge, his goal was and had always been clear— kill them all.
