Not much is known about Hayden or should I say not much is known about her origin? Her story began when she was found on the doorstep of a catholic orphanage named St. Anne’s on a cold snowy night that just so happened to be Christmas. If it weren’t for the infant’s loud cries she probably would’ve frozen to death. When being brought inside there was no note on the infant, just a soft pink blanket (a teddy bear) with the umbilical cord still on her. Having no name to her they made one for the lost infant and let me tell you, this girl will grow to hate it. The name was Araminta Winifred Potts. As she grew up in the mansion with fourteen other kids everyone quickly grew to learn Araminta or Ara as she liked to be called, had a knack for playing rough with the boys and not taking shit from no one. At the age of seven Ara showed she was capable of sneaking out and going who knows where. If the nuns had thought on asking her she would’ve told the truth then. She went to the movies and at times would pick pocket customers for the candy they bought or sometimes money. It was her home away from home. As she gotten older Ara ended up having a harder time at St. Anne’s and decided enough was enough. The blonde never really was one for rules and especially theirs. Packing a single with her little teddy bear in it, Ara went off. She ventured out into the world despite being a runaway orphan.

The runaway orphan would squat when rich families were on vacation and would leave before they came home. Soon thought it all came to a halt when Ara turned 14. A family came home early and caught her, of course they called the cops and they took her away. Refusing to go back to St. Anne’s, they held her at a juvenile detention center until the proper authorities came. Only really the family whose house she got caught at came. They learned of her story and wanted to adopt her. Was Ara surprised? Well yeah she was. Kids younger than her with no troubles get adopted faster than her. She was really scared to be honest. The word family was like the F word to her. They brought her home to see how she adapted and it was weird to Ara. The blonde felt so out of place and didn’t know what to do. Was she happy to have a family wanting her? Of course, but it just felt so wrong being there. They were amazing and so nice. About a week or so later and already having enough of the feeling, Ara snuck out of their house late at night. The blonde orphan went back on the road again and saw so many different things. Obviously she was in law enforcement’s system and she was a wanted young girl; a wanted runaway. Looking over her shoulder became of second nature to the girl as she looked out for Five-0. From this Ara couldn’t wait until the day she turned 18 and she would free. No more running from the law with a fear of being dragged back to a youth center or something. For the next four years the girl counted how many foster homes she busted out of; 182 and that is not counting the youth centers she escaped from. When finally becoming an adult in the state’s eyes–Ara was free. With no longer having to look over her shoulder the blonde decided it would be best to get her GED since she never did stay too long in one place and attend school. Not long after that and getting hard earned money, Ara decided to do something she have been wanting to do for a while. To erase Araminta Winifred Potts off the map and rise with a name she’d given herself. Paying a well known underground hacker, he did just that and took that ridiculous name off the files. Thanks to her childhood teddy bear and the her favorite Marvel Heroine she became Hayden Danvers.

Working a string of odd jobs to making ends meet with her GED under her belt, Hayden found herself answering for a higher calling. Hayden had joined the United States Marine Corp. The lost girl thought she would be perfect for the military due to not having a family coming home too. All there would be for her is the military. Despite her younger years jumping around–the young woman scored high on the ASVAB and found herself in their Security Forces Regiment. Oh how she amazed herself and others with her untapped skills in weapons and self defense. It ranked her high up and fast too. Due to this Hayden found herself out in the Sandbox and just like she was as a kid Hayden was never in the same place for too long. Fast forward three years later to a 21 year old Hayden transferring over to the Reserves and becoming an NCIS Agent. In her team and due to her being the newest agent, Hayden gained the nickname Probie. When signing onto the agency Hayden moved to Norfolk, VA and for once in her life was able to call a place home. Investigating crimes within in the Military brought new meaning to her life though she felt as if something was missing, but what? Her answer came when she became assigned to a joint case with the FBI and there she met Jack Parker on the case. No she wasn’t smitten with him, but he was with her raw talent. Not long after Hayden had turned 23 is when Jack came forth with an assignment for her. It was an undercover assignment for the cartels that were stirring trouble down in Texas. They needed someone with a fresh face and Hayden fit the bill. Turning in her NCIS badge Hayden became sent off to train with other recruitment for the FBI.

Oh she was focused in her training and was one of the very few women in her class. Within the first week of being there Hayden showed she was a force to be reckoned with despite her petite frame and blonde hair. During the last half of her training and after her graduation Hayden found herself tangled in the sheets with an FBI Agent of the name Liam O’Connor. Let me tell you it was hot and heavy between the two. Whenever they found themselves alone Hayden had her legs wrapped around him with his lips locked on hers. It got more heavy when Hayden became assigned to Liam’s team though soon it all came to a stop. Why? Because Hayden felt a feeling creep up on her and it was one she hadn’t felt in a long time. She began to question her worth and in doing so she had realized her feelings for the fellow Agent. Luck apparently was on her side when Jack Parker told her she will be starting to work on the undercover case. Not telling Liam goodbye or nothing, Hayden was off. Thanks to the FBI they had formed Hayden’s file and showed she became fired from NCIS due to violent actions.

Not long after Hayden had found herself being recruited into the Almeida Cartel and started out as a mule, then a messenger until she became a soldier. During this time Hayden found herself becoming friends with a man named Roman Guerra. Let me tell you, this man helped bring out a darker side in Hayden–one she didn’t even know existed and you know what? She loved it. Did she tell the agency? No. Keeping her dark secret to herself when reporting to the agency Hayden continued on in the cartel.

Fast forward to her now being thirty-five years old and one of the top soldiers for the Almeida Cartel. With Roman on the throne he had been sending Hayden down to Mexico to help out the Castro when needed (or in Azores for their cartel) and of course spoiled her in a trip to Sicily with all expenses paid. It didn’t take long though for Hayden to learn of Roman being thrown in jail and Emilia being murdered. On her route to Lakewood to see what she can do about getting her good friend and President out–speak of the Devil, calls Hayden with the order to come to Texas and take up the Bodyguard position. With no other words she put an extra pep into her travels to rush to Lakewood. What will happen to Hayden when arriving there? Will she come down from the high of doing bad things? Will she let the darkness in her take over and burying the badge?

“Do you have any idea of what happened?” Hayden questions one of the bystanders her eyes glued to the scene before her. This was the four person she asked this too and needed to know. She felt she had to know this before meeting up with Roman and already knew this will be the main topic. When the bystander said no, Hayden drops the conversation and moves on to the next one. 

Unbeknownst to her Hayden caught the attention of someone she didn’t think of. “Do you know anything of this? See someone?”

“Who in the bloody hell makes these things?” Liam muttered and hefted the giant purple elephant over his shoulder. He didn’t try to hide the grin, triumphant and a little childish. No shame, absolutely no shame in slightly cheating. Now the problem was he wanted a funnel cake, to watch the crowd, and trunk boy was making both pretty damn hard.

Shoving a piece of her funnel cake into her mouth, Hayden chuckles seeing Liam struggling with the stuffed animal. Navigating through the crowd the undercover cop catches up to the Irishman. She enjoyed seeing a grin on his face. 

“You want to trade?” Hayden offers to hold the stuffed animal.

“Carnivals. A sizzling cesspool of overpriced food, shotty entertainment, sweaty, huddled bodies swallowing their heatstroke to get on the occasional vomit-covered ride and— the games. Now, it’s not gambling if you don’t actually win anything.” He pointed out, gesturing towards the abyss of carnie games ahead. “They hire people to walk around with those huge stuffed prizes. Give you the illusion that even you, a common, untalented gnat, could win one, too.”

“Wow, I didn’t know that.” sarcasm in her voice. Hayden walks over to one of the games; a shooting game. She hands the guy over a five to participate in the game with three other men. Of course she would be the only woman. “You sure you want to play this big boy game?” the carnie guys questions to which Hayden gives him a smile. “I’m sure.” 

Taking a seat down on the stool, Hayden didn’t have time to get comfortable when the bell went off. The others chuckled at how she was going to be in last place, but thanks to her background in the military she quickly caught up and became in first place.

“Young lady is the winner!” announced the carnie guy. Ignoring the glares of the men she just know defeated Hayden looks back over to the man she was talking to before hand. “Pick your prize.”

Jack sat, surveying the scene with sunglasses perched on the bridge of his nose. This town seemed to push everything under the rug, every last morsel of a tar-black soul that they pretended to have. Some of the civilians were just that—lost within the city that would drown them alive. But others, as he watched those ranking high walk pompously, as though they owned the place. They were on his shit list.

But it wasn’t like Jack could put that into play—yet.

Instead, he kept to himself, pocketing his hands, and approaching the nearest food vendor, silently mulling his options for whatever fried heart attack he wanted to gorge on in that moment.

Walking into the town square and navigating her way through the crowd, Hayden has her sights on a vendor who she heard is known for the best funnel cakes. A small groan escaped her lips when she saw how long the line was, but opted against finding a different one when seeing a familiar man standing at the end of the line. 

“You tryin’ decide what you should get a heart attack over?” Hayden gets into the line behind him. She was dressed in clothes people would normally not see her in, unless they spotted Hayden on vacation which hardly every happened.

    He grins and can’t help but to chuckle at her pride. The bar tender comes back with their drinks and he grabs at his vodka and tonic like it’s his source of life. Don wasn’t trying to get fucked up, but in all reality, he was quite nervous talking to Hayden. He sure as hell wasn’t going to show it. He couldn’t remember the last time he talked to a beautiful woman like herself. Clearly, it was over 20 years since he last had any encounter with a woman who wasn’t a guard.

    “Not new. Just came back home.” He lets out a soft groan from the sting of practically chugging his drink. “Figured it was time to settle down but still live my best life.” She doesn’t need to know about his stint in prison. “What’s a beautiful woman like yourself doing along at a bar like this? Clearly it wasn’t to see the sorority girls make a fool of themselves. Well,…I take that back, they are pretty funny right now.” One of the blonde girls had shouted something about body shots and so they were currently debate on who the shot would be taken on. “I think this is going to fail horribly and end with a night of confused sexualities.” Donovan chuckles.

She looks over to the sorority girls and couldn’t help but laugh at their stupidity. “Oh seeing that makes me even more happy with me going into the core.” Hayden revealed as she watched one of the girls basically beg for her to be the to have the shots taken off of her body. “I would hate to be that guy who get’s a text from his now lesbian girlfriend.” 

Looking back at Donovan, “I finally had the weekend off from work.” she tells him. “Since coming back from vacation my boss had been making me work 24/7.” the death of Emilia had put Hayden in the bodyguard position, one Hayden deeply desired to have since she would be in charge of the soldiers. The undercover cop was never really good with authority.

Don’t growl, don’t get mad. His jaw worked and popped once as he kept walking, strides slowed to match hers. Dammit, dammit, dammit. He didn’t need these kinds of complications but there they were. Why? Because he couldn’t keep it in his goddamn pants and emotions got involved.

“What about?” he finally, tersely asked after a block of silence, taking by the shoulders and guiding her to avoid hitting a streetlamp. He let her go and kept walking, the collision avoided.

Hayden felt her heart skip a beat when Liam grabbed her by the shoulders to avoid her running into a streetlamp. Taking a deep breath and easing her heart rate down, she continued to walk alongside the Irishman. 

What can I ask when there is so much I want to say? Biting her bottom lip Hayden blurts out the first thing she thought of. “Um, how you been all these years?” She suggested. “Like what you been up to besides y’know.” Hayden didn’t want to bluntly say undercover.

“For the record?” Jack begun as she got into the heavily tinted jeep, and he peeled off, casting a glance in her direction. “My mama taught this dick some manners.” He had eyes everywhere—ears, everywhere else. And bugged places as he went. “How’s the recon going, you mentioned the position—does this mean he trusts you?” That was crucial.

A low chuckle escaped her lips at his words about his manners. “Everyone in this town knows I have a foul mouth--gotta keep up appearances.” Hayden tells him. Running a hand through her hair and she nods. “I believe he does,” the woman pauses remembering what he had said. “Roman told me I have always been one of his best and brightest worker bees.” 

She looks over to his direction. “I’m confident he trusts me with how long I’ve been undercover in this cartel, Parker.” I’ve been undercover for at least a decade, she thought. Though her mission had changed since then in a way. Instead of just now finding out who is the leader, but now finding out a way to stop all cartel activity in Lakewood. Oh how her job she keeps getting better and better.

I’m impressed how forward you’re being despite saying it’s not a line. Very brave of you.” He hinted a smile. “Don’t think so, Darlin’. Lu.” He offered his hand. “Pleasure.”

“With my line of work and my past you gotta be brave.” Hayden admits to the man. Taking his hand into her and shaking it, she rose an eyebrow. “Lu, eh?” A light bulb lit up in her mind at thinking something. She tilts her head. “Is Lu short for Lucien?” Hayden began to see the resemblance of a young Lucien Blackshaw she ran into long long ago.

    Things were moving slowly with his grand plan regarding his family and the cartel. Plus, having to reintergrate himself into society was a strain on him. Donovan figured that the bar was calling his name, especially when he saw their specials for imported beers. He’d been there for about half an hour, already 5 beers down and working on a 6th when a pretty blonde woman in a leather jacket came over and sat down next to him. He can’t help but to laugh when she mentions the sorority girls who are beyond fucked up right now in the corner.

    “I’ll have to pass on that.” He says with a smirk. “I like my women older and with experiance. You’ll do just fine.” He winks and tosses back the rest of his beer before motioning for the bartender to come back around. “I’ll take a jack and coke…and another Corna for the pretty lady here. Dressed, please.” He looks back at Hayden and grins. “So…I take it you come here often?”

The blonde appeared unfazed by the man’s smirk. “I guess that makes me lucky then since I qualify for both.” Hayden glances at him with a smirk to match his. This wasn’t the first time for a man to smirk at the woman at a bar like this and Hayden is pretty damn sure it won’t be the last time either. She wasn’t arrogantly vain no, but she knew how her body looked and appealed to the opposite sex.

“I have been comin’ here since I’ve started work here,” Hayden explains. “so not long.” Placing her bottle down on its coaster is when Hayden noticed the bruise on her arm from work. Fuck, she thought. The bodyguard didn’t see it on her earlier so it must’ve just started to make its color. Playing off as if it isn’t there, Hayden looks to him. “I take it you are new here?” she suggests.

It was the weekend and Hayden had found herself surprisingly doing nothing. Her President had informed her to take the next day or two off while he spent time with his daughter which Hayden understood he wanted to spend alone with with his little one. Not asking nothing and just going with the flow, Hayden soon found herself at the Bullseye Bar. She had been wanting to come back to the bar since running into Lucien and this time drowning in a glass without a familiar face. With it being a weekend and it had been a while since she ‘dressed up’ the undercover cop wore her leather jacket with a black slim dress to match and black pumps. Even though she had no man in her life to dress like that for Hayden had her damn self and that was more than enough. 

“Start me off with a corona and we can go from there.” Hayden told the bartender as she took up a seat at the end of the counter. The blonde looks over to the man who was already sitting beside the formerly empty seat. “I feel like I should apologize for taking this seat beside you when there are others, but I’m not going to because I rather deal with your presence than those sorority girls down there who are finding whole new levels of shitfaced.” the Almeida bodyguard motioned to the girls that were sitting further down the bar counter. “Gracias.” Hayden gave Miguel a small smile as she took her ordered drink from him. 

“Now if you do not want me to sit here--that’s fine. Just know I’ll tell those girls you want them as company.” the woman teased before taking a good sip of her drink.

Impatience flickered across his face and he pinched the bridge of his nose with a thin sigh. He wasn’t terribly in the mood for chit-chat, especially one full of misunderstandings, and only gave her a one-eyed glare at the compliment to his changed look. It was not a good day for that lot.

He softened only fractionally, the expression on his face going from weary and frustrated to just annoyed. “It is silly, but appreciated,” he confirmed coolly and glanced down at his ticket, jaw working tightly. The universe had had its fun with him. Son of a criminal becoming some suit for the government. The man who’d been left leaving another. Bunch of bullshit.

Liam took her hand and pressed the ticket to her palm. “Enjoy it, let me know what you think.” And he strode out, temper leading the way towards wherever the nearest liquor store would be.

Before Hayden could explain herself further she found herself with a free ticket to see a horror movie. She would be lying if she didn’t say his hand in hers made her heart skip a beat or two. “I..” The undercover cop looks down at the ticket. Staying silent for several seconds Hayden looks back up and follows the Irishman out of the theater. 

“Hey,” she catches up to him and began to walk alongside him. “I..I want to catch up.” Hayden shoves her hands into her pockets. She kept her eyes on her shoes as she continued to walk beside the man who still made her nervous. Funny, right?

“I sure hope so, I may go to another bar,” he challenged, huffing as the bartender took notice of them. So it seemed. “Yeah, my beer that I ordered like a week ago and whatever the lady wants,” he gestured to his side, glaring at the bartender. He was a people watcher. He observed, learned and adapted. Her face was— familiar— but it wasn’t one he’d seen terribly often. Maybe she just had one of those faces.

A low chuckle escapes her lips and looks to the bartender. “I’ll have the same thing, hun.” She gave a quick small smile to the man as he grunted and walked off to get their order. Hayden looks back at the man. “I might not be from this shit hole of a town, but I know everyone here and you sir,” she gave him a kind smile. “are new.” 

Despite her smile she’d given the man, Hayden always knew to keep her guard up. It was who she was and always will be. “I swear this isn’t no pick up line, but it’s bugging me--you look familiar,” she takes her beer from the bartender and takes a sip of her drink. “have we met before?”

“Actually,” Roman began, taking a longer sip from the glass he’d been handed. “You’ve always been my best and brightest worker bee, Hay,” he remarked genuinely. “It would only make sense to promote you, right?” A glimmer of a small smile appeared. “It’s a lot of responsibility and you gotta be prepared to do whatever the fuck I ask you. Think you’re up for it?”

Hearing his words and taking a small nod, a smirk came across her face. “So basically you are giving me the bodyguard mantle when I’ve already been doing exactly that job?” Hayden had to do a smart ass remark to lighten up the tension in the room. She never did like having it in the room when in the same room as the President of the Almeida Cartel. “It’s about damn time, Roman.” 

Taking a long sip of her glass and finishing it off, she places the now empty glass down on the coaster. “Count me in, boss.” Pushing herself off the wall and walking towards him, Hayden held her gaze on his. “What would you like done first?”

Jack’s head turned slowly, almost caught himself even off guard. “Really?” He ushered in disbelief. With that, there was no time, no issue to continue with charades, over the game as he stood, charming grin plastered. “Jus’ passing through, sweetheart.” He grinned, wiping the corner of his lips with a napkin that had quickly scribbled a note to meet him behind the building, where his tinted jeep was. There, he left, moved to the car, and waited, engine running for Hayden to arrive so he could speed off to the safe house.

The blonde nods at the civilian, “You stay for too long you might drown.” Hayden watches as Jack left and eyes the napkin on the bench. She scoffs at it, playing off as if she is mad he would be rude to leave trash behind. “Did anyone teach that dick manners?” The bodyguard had to keep up the facade. Standing up and picking up the napkin, Hayden glances at the scribbled words on it. She then stashes it in what is left of her coffee to ruin the note before throwing it away into the trash bin near by. 

Her eyes scanned the area, watching the families as she casually walks off to where her boss waited for her. Hayden becomes satisfied to see no one is watching her and she disappears around a corner. Placing her hood up over her head Hayden keeps her head down while walking over towards the tinted jeep and slides into it. “I destroyed your note and no one followed me.” Hayden always have been good at covering up her tracks.

“I’d offer to buy you a drink, but I’ve been waiting for my beer for about,” Lu paused, glancing at his watch. “Ten-ish minutes— and quite unsuccessfully trying to get the attention of the bartender who looks like he’s way too invested in the bachelorette party at the far end.”

“Maybe with a woman by your side he just might come on over now.” a grin tugged at the corner of her lips. Taking the spot next to the man and glancing over at his appearance--it almost felt surreal to her. She had a gut feeling in her stomach telling her she had seen this man before and honestly that scared Hayden a little.
