“Okay, for starters. I’m not being generic. I’m getting in the spirit because how can you plan a bunch of Christmas parties without a Christmas themed drink to match? That’s basically a champagne breakfast, but without the champagne.. And the minute I see candy cane hot chocolate? Yeah. It’s a thing” Posey teases as she takes her drink from the barista and peering at the person next to her. “So now that we’ve gotten past you judging my beverage choice, is this next part where you fill me in on everything I’ve missed while I’ve been away?”
Lucio had hardly said a word before Posey explained her drink to him, but she wasn’t wrong. He’d been eyeing her drink in confusion before ordering his very standard latte. Seasonal drinks were not new to him, but certain beverages seemed over the top. “It’s been too long. I can’t remember a single thing that’s happened.” Besides the riots of course, but who wanted to dwell on that? Certainly not him. “How are you?”
@lucio-montague
For Lucio’s birthday, Ty gave him a beautiful tempered Morgan Mare named Persephone.
ardenromano:
“Well, I’m glad to hear it. And surprised you’d use the word friend considering our contentious start. But still glad.” Arden raised his glass in a small toast to the submissive. “So, be honest - how do you find the party as a whole? Think we did enough to impress?”
“If that’s not what we are, feel free to correct me,” Lucio said, smiling and raising his glass as well. His gaze then returned to the party, to the decor and the guests and the catering and the many other preparations that had to be happening behind the scenes. “It’s lovely. I would be surprised if the Romano family did not come up with something impressive.”
Sent to @ty-capulet with a note:
Lord Capulet,
Please accept these gifts and my wishes for you to have the happiest of birthdays. In addition to these sentiments, I promise you a weekend that is screen-free. No mobiles or tablets or laptops.
We can discuss plans for this weekend over dinner tonight. I’ll be cooking. Don’t be late. I love you.
Yours,
Lucio
ardenromano:
Arden couldn’t help but smile. He may still be on the fence about Tybalt, but had a soft spot for Lucio and was glad to see the other man was happy. “Well, just make sure it’s on a different weekend than ours - Carlisle shouldn’t have her thunder stolen. You’re, of course, invited to our ceremony and likewise I hope you think to send us an invitation to yours - even if it’s not until after the holidays.”
Lucio chuckled. “We’re hardly about to be choosing dates for our ceremony. And I have no interest in stealing anyone’s thunder, especially Carlisle’s. Or yours for that matter.” He smirked. “Of course, if and when Lord Capulet and I reach such a point in our relationship, you will receive an invitation. I am not one with an abundance of friends. I’m not about to make cuts.”
ardenromano:
“I’m sorry… I didn’t know,” Arden replied, sounding a touch apologetic. Far more than he usually allowed. “I’m good. Carlisle and I will be claimed, hopefully by the end of the year. We were fortunate in the riots but got too close for comfort for both of us. How about you? Still content with Lord Capulet?”
“Not to worry. Lord Capulet is adept at hiding it. You couldn’t have possibly known,” Lucio replied, not meaning to make Arden feel bad. “Ah, that’s good news. I’m happy for both of you.” He’d met Carlisle on a few different occasions, and had always found her to be lovely. “Yes,” he said with a chuckle. “I am still content. I cannot say we will be in a claim by the end of the year, but...I’d consider it for him.”
silviusxromano:
Silvius noted the little dig but didn’t let his smile fade. “And one of the most wonderful things is that this City welcomes everyone, doesn’t it?” he returned with a broad grin, “Ah yes, the editor! I recall now. With the masks, it is so difficult to say who is who. I am having a lovely night. I am quite enjoying seeing everyone done up to the nines.”
Lucio smirked. “Oh yes, it’s very welcoming. I’ve lived in Verona all my life, so I am curious about the perspective of a newcomer.” There was something off-putting about Silvius’s grin, but Lucio smiled anyway. It felt like a strategy game, speaking with the head of the Romano family. “Yes, the editor. This evening is a stark contrast to what we saw on Verona’s streets not too long ago.”
ardenromano:
Funny how long it’d taken the two of them to get along. And now, Arden felt a sense of relief that of anyone to come up to speak with him, it was Lucio. He knew he wouldn’t be bored with inane conversation and that the other man was seeking as much a refuge as he was.
“I would have too. But, unfortunately, my family’s name is attached to this party so I have to be here,” Arden sighed. He glanced across the crowd to find Tybalt, unable to help but smirk at Lucio’s comment. “Oh? And here I thought Lord Capulet would make a fine dancer. Is it the alcohol or the lack of ability?”
“Neither. It’s the fact that he’s still recovering from broken ribs. The riots were not kind to him.” Lucio, himself, had healed up, leaving nothing of the shiner he’d sported and just a bit of scar tissue where his lip had been split. “How are you faring, Arden?”
silviusxromano:
“It felt like something the City needed. A splash of fun after some unfortunate events. A reminder of Verona’s bright spots and good heart.” Silvius replied with a smile as he tried to place the younger male. He was handsome and clearly well spoken but he couldn’t quite place him. Curse his inability to remember names. “And you. How are you?”
“I wonder what you’d say make up Verona’s bright spots and good hear, having only been a resident within the past year or so.” When the man did not use his name, Lucio figured he’d forgotten it. “Lucio,” he supplied. “Lucio Montague. I’m just fine. Thank you for asking. And yourself, Lord Romano?”
Tybalt and Lucio’s masks for the Masquerade.
Arden gazed out over the dance floor as he sipped on his whiskey. While the rest of Verona seemed content to dance and drink the night away, he was content hanging on the sidelines to sip his drink. He glanced over when someone moved to stand next to him. “You should be out there, having fun with everyone else,” he advised, taking another sip. “I’m afraid I’m not going to be much company.”
“Fun? Me?” Lucio asked, holding a glass of wine as he moved to stand next to Arden. He hadn’t seen the man in some time. “I think many of us will not be decent company. I personally would have preferred to remain at home. Lord Capulet is hardly in a state to do any dancing anyhow, stunning as he may look.”
“Well that is a spectacular mask. Absolutely suits you. We appreciate you coming.” Silvius assured as he held out a flute of champagne to the recently arrived guest. “For you.”
“Thank you,” Lucio said, keeping his expression neutral as he accepted the flute of champagne from Lord Romano. He’d met the man on an occasion or two, but this was his first time attending an event at the estate. “Thank you for having us. I’m sure coordinating an event of this size is no small feat what with the current state of Verona.”
Estate Run-In | Lucio & Leo
leonardo-capulet:
There was a certain sense of sympathy that Leo felt for the submissive as he spoke. After all, he and Cristian were still a rather new thing, and he’d been worried out of his mind until they’d finally found each other. He could only imagine what Lucio must have felt having the relationship that he did with Tybalt. “Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about that, and everything’s okay and you both still have each other. It’s as it should be, at least where that’s concerned.”
A small laugh escaped Leo as he listened to Lucio’s wish for Tybalt to sit still. “No offense there, but you and I both know that Lord Tybalt won’t be able to sit still any time soon. At least you’re making sure he’s getting the nutrients that he needs because if you weren’t keeping an eye on it, I can guarantee you that he wouldn’t be doing it either. If he gets too out ambitious, and you ever feel like he’s doing far too much just let me know. I’ll happily barricade him in a room for you so he’s forced to relax. I assure you I can be very good at keeping a person contained in one place if need be.” He was only teasing, but it was an attempt at keeping the mood light despite the serious conversation. Plus, the idea of Leo locking Tybalt in any room was wild enough.
Lucio nodded. He knew he ought to focus on the fact that Tybalt was okay. Or at least that he was going to be okay. He was sure he’d stop seeing the attack on his Dominant in his mind after some time passed. “Everything’s okay,” he repeated with a quiet smile. He could think about the turmoil in Verona another day.
“I’m aware. He takes on too much. I can’t always be around to make sure he’s eating and sleeping and resting, and yet now it’s all I can think about.” He had a weekly magazine to release and yet every time he opened his laptop to get some work done, he was overwhelmed with thoughts of Lord Capulet. “I might have to call upon your help at some point. He is truly maddening at times.”
Crash Into Me || Ty & Lu

ty-capulet:
“Yes, Diana, thank you for everything. I doubt either of us could eat at the moment but perhaps in a little while?” he said, knowing that she wanted to feel useful and they would need to eat eventually. He turned to his submissive, giving him a nod. “My head is pounding and it’s a bit hard to breath. I suspect that I’ve broken a rib. But I’m far better off then I would have been if you’d not arrived when you did.”
@gardenerwithoutborders
Diana nodded, but it was easy to see that the two of them needed time alone now more than they needed her hovering over them. “in that case, I’ll head to the kitchen and deal with my chilled dough,” she murmured before fading away. She needed to keep busy or she would think too much. Pulling out the first batch, she carefully started to roll it out and cut out the different pieces she would need for the pain au chocolat she’d been in the mood to make earlier. Puff pastry was difficult enough to deal with it could take all of her attention and leave little time to worry.
@lucio-montague
“Thank you, Diana,” Lucio said, watching as she got up to give them a moment alone together. It was difficult, looking at Tybalt and not thinking about what he’d just witnessed. He knew it could have been worse, had he not arrived, but somehow that wasn’t altogether comforting. “Perhaps you ought to lie down,” he said to the Dominant. “I can get you some ice. Or perhaps Diana has aspirin or ibuprofen...” There had to be something productive he could do to help.

Ty rested, watching Di clean up his battered submissive, glad that Lucio had not argued. He was sure Vaughan was safe. The man was not reckless. “If I know Vaughan he’s at City Hall helping cooridinate things. I am certain he will contact you as soon as he can. As soon as I can reach him, I will be having Leo ensure everyone is accounted for. Thank you, Diana. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am.” He truly didn’t understand what was happening in his city right now. But they were safe and all else could be solved when the dust had settled.
@gardenerwithoutborders
“He was at the sentencing, and the phones stopped working shortly after. But you’re right. I’m sure he took refuge in City Hall to help plan for the relief effort and minimizing the damage.” She had to hold onto that hope that he stayed safe, much as she would rather he was home safe in her arms. She could feel the way her heart pounded just thinking about it. But she ignored it. “There’s no need to be grateful. Is there anything else you need right now? I could make some soup?”
@lucio-montague
Lucio nodded, not wanting Diana to worry about her partner at a time like this. Surely he would be just fine. When his fellow submissive offered soup, he shook his head. “I’m fine for now, thank you. For everything.” He didn’t think he could eat anything at the moment. His adrenaline was finally starting to calm, but he still felt a bit frazzled. “Tybalt...how are you feeling?” he asked, concerned for his partner.

Estate Run-In | Lucio & Leo
leonardo-capulet:
There was never any doubt in Leo’s mind that Lucio would defend Tybalt if the scenario ever came to pass again, but hearing it verified was still a relief in some ways. It was good that they had a solid relationship, and that Lucio wasn’t one of those submissives who would sit aside and wait for their dom to take care of things for them. He understood how Lucio felt, however, all too well. He’d been there when he was in the military, when he was leading men into dangerous scenarios and watched as some were injured before he could save, or protect them. “There’s no use in what-ifs. You got there. You made it. You were able to help him before things got any worse. In the end, you can’t start beating yourself up over how you reacted, or whether you could have done more, or done things differently. You’ll drive yourself mad with all of that. He’s okay, and that’s thanks to you.”
Leo was impressed by how much effort the submissive was putting into making meals. “Have you been researching foods and which ones might be best for healing? Because, I’m really damn impressed if you have. Also, I’ll more than gladly test whatever foods you’re planning on throwing together for Lord Tybalt. You’re right, however, I’m afraid there are others who could use the benefits of a good meal.” Tybalt was a lucky man, to have someone who cared that much about him, and he wondered if anything had happened to him if anyone would have gone through such lengths to help him recover.
Lucio nodded his head. “I know that you’re right. It’s simply difficult not to think about it. But I’m glad he’s okay. I don’t know what I’d do otherwise.” It was the truth, though he’d never voiced it before. He didn’t know what he would do without Tybalt. He’d gone from being the most solitary of creatures to part of a pair, and it happened so seamlessly that he hadn’t noticed his own dependence. “Yes, I’m very glad he’s going to be okay.”
At the question, Lucio nodded again. “I have. It’s important to choose the right foods that’ll provide protein, iron, calcium and vitamin d. The meals are balanced so that there’s a starch, a variety of green vegetables, and a protein. Now if Lord Capulet would just sit still long enough to feel better, he’d be right as rain in no time.”
