Rather than responding to that - for even the other’s assurance would not, could not change how he felt - Nikkari just continued to study Sadamune as he spoke. It was true that their experiences were as different as could be…it was a little sad, to watch him speak like this, so honestly and with such remorse. To some degree, Nikkari could relate - he may not have been treasured, but just as Sadamune’s ability to bring good fortune would backlash, Nikkari’s spiritual connection was a blessing and curse at the same time.
Hand poised before his chin delicately, it seemed for a moment the Aoe’s concentration broke to allow a hum bordering on his usual pleasant humour. Yes, it was difficult to break from one’s past. Before now, memories were all they had. Had Sadamune met with anyone he recognised, whom might’ve reminded him of the past?

The moment of silence gave Monoyoshi the opportunity to ponder a bit over the topic of the conversation that he was having with Nikkari. Past regrets... his most beloved owner, Tokugawa Ieyasu, was a warlord who had many great victories, victories that the man attributed to his lucky sword. While the Sadamune embraced those attributes ascribed to him fondly, it was the aftermath of the infamous Siege of Osaka that the wakizashi had to come face-to-face with the sufferers of the side that lost, when Ichigo Hitofuri and Namazuo Toushirou became Tokugawa property alongside him.
Originally swords of the Toyotomi Clan that resided in Osaka Castle, the two Awataguchi swords suffered heavy damage from the fires that burned down the castle, and were subsequently repaired when the Tokugawa clan claimed them as their property. There was... many years of emotional and physical distress due to burns, traumas, and amnesia, a time where Mono went through a lot as he tried to help those two swords recuperate slowly.
Due to Sada’s nature however, he rarely shows his troubled side out of fear of troubling others with it, and due to that, he isn’t going to readily tell Aoe the full story behind his troubles. This small talk over the dual natures of special attributes of swords should be more then enough.
Instead, Monoyoshi just smiled the best he could. “I suppose that is true, Nikkari-san... I don’t wish to trouble you too much with my own issues however... thank you for listening to me though~”
