Seriousness and "realism" in RP

So it has come to my attention that there are some "realism is stupid and stressful and stop including it" PSAs floating around and frankly, that take is pretty cold. Please seek help.

If you want to write balls off the walls crazy, unrealistic, plot armored so well it makes a medieval knight look under-dressed? THAT IS YOUR RIGHT.

On the flip side...

If you want to work out all the little details, and focus on realism, and talk about how you want all your headcanons and plotlines to be realistic and science the fuck out of your magic and superheroes? THAT IS ALSO YOUR RIGHT.

Please if it tickles your pickle to go on a three hour google rabbit hole venture to figure out this exact aspect of your muse or your story, and then incorporate it, and talk about how you did that or want that in your writing? Do it. Do it more. I applaud you.

Do not let anyone tell you realism in RP is stupid. You are absolutely valid for being a serious RPer.

You are allowed to like different ways of RP. What you really aren't allowed to do is give people shit for your personal problem of it 'stressing you out'. Keep to the people with the same approach, instead of shaming people for how they do it. You wouldn't shit on a fanfic writer for making their writing realistic, so why do you think that flies in RP?
