FOR SENIORS IN HIGHSCHOOL LOOKING INTO COLLEGES
DO YOUR RESEARCH
DO NOT PICK YOUR COLLEGE BASED OFF BRAND
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR EVEN TAKE A GAP YEAR
I REPEAT
DO NOT BE AFRAID TO GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE!!!
I never really wanted to go to college. I’m the type of person who wants to know what I really want to do in life based off expirence rather than schooling. But I went. Mostly because of all the pressure they put on us to go to school. Just because I HAD, to go to college, I choose mine based off location and beauty and told myself “oh, I’ll just figure out my major eventually”. (Biggest mistake) from one and a half years of actual school (they made me pay full tuition when I left a couple weeks into a semester due to medical leave) I AM IN $75,000 dollars in debt. I thought this was wayyyy too much. I already have to pay $600 MINIMUM after leaving college. And that’s even when I’m working a full time job while in school to help lesson the load. BUT BECAUSE I didn’t do my research, I found out that if I drop out and don’t go back to school, although I had been there and filled all my general requirements for an AA (two year) degree, if I dropped out at this point, all my credits would disappear because my school didn’t offer an AA degree in general. I could transfer to a different school however only 5 of my credits will transfer over out of the three semesters I’ve been there. DONT MAKE MY MISTAKES. I’m going to start over. Now that I’ve worked a bit more, I have finally decided that I want to work in hospitality! A major they don’t offer at my current school anyways. Im going to go to community college and then continue on a path to go to a school that I’ve actually done my research on with the major I love. Honestly it’s what I should have done in the first place. It would have saved me soooo much time and money. And when you look at schools, COMPARE PRICES. it sounds like a lot of work to do that much research but it’s 100% worth it. I compared the community college in my town compared to the school I currently go do and my community college is $100 per credit hour vs my school which is $1400 per credit out. And if you wanna get out of the city your in, THATS FINE!!!! You can go to community college as an out of state student for $300 per credit hour. And after you’ve lived there for a year, you can change your residency and have school for even cheaper!
SPREAD THE WORD. CONSIDER THIS. IT COULD HELP SO MUCH.
