Trapping Forlu - 9♥️

Maybe I’m over ambitious, especially with deciding to challenge Auburn like I did. I’ve played poker 3 times in my life, including the one I just won against a very… irritated Auburn. Risky on it’s own and now I also have one of the biggest, brightest targets on my back. We’re all a family, yeah, but… when the world is built on the backs of others it’s hard to trust anyone completely.

But I did it. Forlu is bound and I know my readings will be stronger for it. I will be stronger for it.

Now… what to do next?

I’m gonna trap another demon.

They fuel the deck and, through the deck… they fuel me. My last reading proved it. Just Chronozon’s presence in the deck boosted my own instincts in the reading and I felt… powerful.

And hey, it’s always good to have luck on your side, even if that luck puts a target on your back.

Fortune Telling - What is Smugg Hiding?

I need to figure out what Smugg was planning to do, to who, and if Ma had any idea about it. I could go about this old-school, but something tells me Smugg’s gonna keep a tight lip. Besides, I should practice my fortune telling as much as I can.

The 10♥️ means a safe person. Was he looking for someone safe? Someone connected to buying out the garden space?

If I listen to my gut, it says he was going after someone “protected” and the only one who comes to mind with that description is the Corp Rep who was handling buying the space. He always has that “assistant” hanging around him—the one with biceps the size of my head and who only wears sunglasses.

But then there’s 6♥️, revenge. Clearly I won’t get any details on what he was gonna do unless I ask Smugg directly, but it’s clear enough he was planning on attacking the Rep somehow.

And 6♠️ which just means… magic. Ma knew magic was happening, but what kind of magic would Smugg be—

He was gonna Hex the Rep.

I… I can feel that I’m right. I can sense the cards’… approval? Yeah, yeah that sounds right. I could feel it last time but it seems almost stronger now. Now that Chronozon is in them. I wonder how much stronger it’ll get with more demons powering the deck.

Ma congratulated me on my first successful ritual! So did Smugg… kind of? He seemed off in some way… is he upset I fixed things with the garden instead of him? I still don’t even know what he was planning to do and now he seems to be avoiding me, so I guess I won’t find out. Unless…

Or I could talk to Ma about that fortune telling, but no. I’m supposed to be able to solve things on my own now… That’s why I wanted to become a Deckrunner in the first place.

I want to learn how to rely on myself.

Smugg is hiding something and I’m gonna find out what it is.

They backed out of their offer! I did it. Holy crap I actually did it. I’m not sure exactly what kind of disaster I caused for them, I don’t exactly have any insight into the Corp or their finances, but I saved the garden space. At least for now.

Ritual - Causing Chaos for the Corp

Demon card - 9♠️ Chronozon

Direction card(s) - 9♣️ (disaster) & 6♣️(money)

I arranged the cards like falling dominoes, Chronozon being the catalyst to cause disaster for the Corp so they have to pull their offer on the garden space.

Then I surrounded the cards with crushed red peppers to speed things along. We don’t have much time to save the garden space at this point and who knows when Smugg is gonna do whatever he has planned.

I hope this works.

Trapping Chronozon - 9♠️

I did it. I almost lost myself during it… I could feel myself start to slip… but I did it. He doesn’t seem as angry as I expected, but that doesn’t mean he seems happy either.

Now to cause some problems for the Corp and keep Smugg from doing something stupid. Please work.

Fortune Telling - Save the Garden

I did a fortune telling to figure out a way to get money to save our garden but… it seems like there’s more going on than just a lack of funds.

K♥️ indicates a man/boy that matters to me… Smugg? He did worry me the other day, said he was thinking of getting a job with the Corp for some extra cash. He promised he wouldn’t go for it without talking to Ma first and there’s no way she’d let him sell his soul like that. Does he have something to do with the Corp trying to buy out the garden space?

The 4♣️ means a crime. This just makes me worry more about Smugg. No crimes have happened recently, not that I know of… but that could just mean it hasn’t happened yet. When he gets stuck on something he comes up with some pretty dumb solutions so I guess I’m not that surprised he’s potentially planning to break the law to help us out. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve—

Anyway.

The solution is the 9♠️. Chaos. That is something I can work with. The best way to sow some chaos I can think of is to summon a demon… but am I ready for that?

I guess I have to be. Then, once I have Chronozon trapped in a card, I can use him cause chaos for the Corp. They’ll have to drop their offer on the garden space and Smugg won’t get into trouble.

First thing’s first, gotta trap Chronozon. I need energy for that and it’s getting late, so I’ll wait and do it first thing tomorrow morning. I just hope I don’t end up too late.

Call me Luckie. I’m a newbie Deckrunner, but I know others. I finally got the guts and the encouragement to start my own deck so here I am.

I’ve been staring at this deck for hours… it’s late, but if I don’t start now I’ll fall behind. Ma’s counting on me now, they all are. I have a responsibility to help protect them like they’ve protected me. I’ll just start with a fortune telling to figure out how to get money to keep the garden.
