I got a CD burner at a garage sale last year and decided to use this new tool to turn an old iPhone into a music player. I have dreams of a more fun and low tech mp3 player, but in the spirit of the recycling center, the best new tech is the tech you already have.
When you download the songs from a physical CD they don't transfer the album cover art. It was fun to learn how to add that to the file. I find that it also made me appreciate the cover art more. I am always wishing the cover art was larger when playing music from my phone. Plus CDs have sexy fun booklets with all the fab outfits.

I learned a new technique in illustrator using a grid, 200 px by 200 px and the live paint tool to fill in the grid boxes. It allowed me to copy fillet crochet lace patterns into lettering of my own.
Today I went down the rabbit hole after watching the Canadian Interior Motives episode featuring jeffy.ca what a fun website I was immediately drawn into his world.
In clicking further and further through his links and his friends I wished there was something better than a bookmarks tab to contain my excitement. Huzzah the answer to my prayer! a digital cork board of sorts kinopio.club
Tonight I tried out two different typewriter simulators. I have been craving typing without the ability to delete, only backspace and an X. This came after reading in the most recent Granta magazine letters from the Finnish author Eeva Kilpi on her typewriter in a cabin. Also Biography of X by Catherine Lacey talks about X writing books in one sitting on a typewriter, no stops.
Here's the translated quote from Eeva Kilpi:
"In Laxness nothing has destroyed his fundamental trust in correspondence between experience and expression, which is essential for a work to feel natural."
The first website, as you can see below, did not produce the intended effect. IT was too modern and you could backspace,m essential a word document with an image on top of it. BUt the second was marvelous! You had to use an X to cross out your mistake and it was so zoomed in I felt I was inside the machine.
I saw someone who made an aquatic themed external hard drive. There was a small frog inside an aquarium she had gotten resin printed and then painted fish on the inside. I recently learned this underwater y2k theme is called Frutiger Aero. Lifes full of lessons. The frog would grow larger when she put files onto the external hard drive. Yum. So I was inspired to put these usbs inside an aquarium of their own.

I used to love making things on KidPix in the computer lab in middle school. I am trying to recapture some of that joy now. I made this on a KidPix emulator from the internet archive.
My neighbor found this Kodak EasyShare V530 on the street. I found its manual online and was able to order a new battery and charger and now it mostly works great. It has a long strap so I wear it like a necklace with my keys attached. Here's a photo of us coloring in an I Love Minecraft page in an activity book my editor gave to me.
On a journey to learn how to use Adobe illustrator. Today I learned how to Rasterize images which I did to the photos of my hand and the stuffy. I also relearned how to make clipping masks in order to separate the parts of my hand that go in front of and behind the stuffy. I tried to learn how to use image trace to make shapes from drawings I had done but the drawings were too complex to create usable clipping masks from. Instead I used the shape tool to build a pixelated heart and then grouped them to make a pattern.
