Hm, well I find being a furry very fun! It's been a great creative outlet for me. I've been using the "furry" label since the end of 2024, and have been making art and fursuits/masks since then!
My family are pretty supportive of it (I mean, I had my aunt tell me I'm mentally ill for it, but I haven't heard her say anything else about it since then, so I think she's fine with it now :p) they sometimes buy me supplies, like felt or the mannequin head I use for masks.
As for how the fandom is, it's usually... fine I suppose? I don't really interact with it other than scrolling through the fursuit making subreddit sometimes to just admire other peoples work. I'd love to go to a convention one day after I finish my fursuit, but other than that, I don't really like all the drama that comes from it sometimes.
There's only one thing that makes you a furry really, and its having an interest in anthropomorphic animal characters. You don't need a fursona or fursuit to be considered a furry, its just a label after all.
You can also like anthro characters and not consider yourself a furry, it is once again just a label.
