The narrow dolichocephalic head gives sighthounds an increased range of visibility (270 degrees) over other breeds (250 degrees). It also has to do with what’s called a “counter current heat exchanger” which helps regulate temperature as the dog breathes. The longer the muzzle, the more effective it is.
