“well, if you put it THAT way,” there’d been a pause as the male brought a closed fist beneath his chin, brows furrowed in mock thought – it’d only been a POSE, of course, as he’d been quick to take notice of the female’s finger camera ( the action was most ingenuine for he was only replicating pictures he’s seen on the back covers of popular novels ). upon hearing lucy’s next words, a very nearly cocky grin etched onto the male’s lips. “even i could have told you that – nonetheless, i’m happy your confidence in me ISN’T fading.” stealing a wandering gaze at the building that stood before the two, the brute could practically feel his aloof mannerisms come to an abrupt halt. while it looks like it had been vacant for the past DECADE or so, it’d been hard not to feel an underlying sense of intrepidity. AFTER ALL, this terrible idea had been implemented because of Joshua – he wasn’t able to back out now, not that everything but his reputation was on the line. “you know, while we’re throwing suggestions out there, maybe you should also consider being an agent. that said – no, i don’t mean some sort of spy or something, i mean someone that does, you know, whatever it is that agents do.” while there may have been many PERKS to being Joshua Valance, there were just as many drawbacks, rambling being one of many. “you are right, of course, about being a big ticket item. be careful now, though, because i may just follow your words and become even more arrogant and big-headed. wouldn’t want that.” the sigh from the broad only earned his attention directing from the building to her, and it was then that a boyish grin lightened the male’s features. “there’ll only be an old widow ghost in there if we’re lucky,” what was he saying? lucky? that was utter nonsense. “the same goes for you, too, though – who’s to say that she isn’t an old widow that bats for both teams? if she happens to want to spend the rest of your life with her, then i’llLEAVE you too – i can visit on occasion, but we can discuss that further if we get there.” rearing in as much confidence as possible, the male takes a few uneasy steps toward the building, feeling as if his legs will give out with each step. “you coming, HUNTER, or will i have to drag you inside with me?”
the blonde’s eyes roll on their own accord as she watches the other strike ( an admittedly convincing ) thinking-man pose, attempting to snuff out the smile that’s trying to make itself known on her features. she has to admit he does have the STRIKING features of an intellectual-- though she wouldn’t want to share that information with him, she’s quite certain he’s heard those words before countless times, and it’s not her intention to inflate his ego any further-- his students probably have that covered. although it seems she’s already done so, or at least the grin etched into his features says as much-- she waves it off, shaking her head slightly, “i know-- you would think i’d just give up on you, already,” she jests, elbow jutting out in an attempt to get him, and get that look off of his face-- take him down a notch, but the smile on her face is counteractive; she’s having too much fun with the banter, and she’s never been much of an actress anyway. with the menacing building as her backdrop, lucy continues to pretend that she can act, jaw dropping slightly, feigning offense. “i could defintely be a spy if i wanted to be,” she most defintely could not-- first of all she has zero hand-eye coordination, and she’s just... generally not coordinated, but she still thinks she could figure it out. after all, if pierce brosnan could be bond, so could she. “do you mean i could be your agent ?? -- because I’ll be expecting a pretty signification portion of book sales. ALSO if we really wanna sell some copies, I’m picturing you like... On horseback, at sunset, in one of those white, puffy, pirate shirts.” she’s clearly switched from self-help to romance novels, but hey, you know what sells.
the suggestion that he’d come visit if the ghost ended up holding her hostage brought a laugh from the blonde, “i really, really appreciate that-- nicest thing you’ve ever said to me, really.” cautiously, lucy begins putting one foot in front of the other, albeit in joshua’s shadow. “i’m taking my time, VALANCE, do you have a problem with that ??” coughs-- deflecting, she’s deflecting -- coughs. the first step up to the building creeks heavily when lucy’s foot finally meets it, and she takes that as a sign that the whole building will probably collapse once they’re in it, and yet she presses forward, determined not to chicken out. “so -- in all seriousness -- who do you think lived here ??” she poses the question hoping to get some sort of story out of him.
