Random prompt scene that came into my head. No. 1
Jason stood on the edge of the building, helmet under his arm, looking out at the city.
Another night, another argument with Bruce, another plea from Dick to come home. Like it was easy to do. To forget what had happened. How much it hurt. How much he just wanted Bruce to care.
'if I didn't know you I'd be worried with how close you are to that edge.' red robin said from the other side of the roof.
'maybe you don't know me then'
It would be so easy. Just one step. Noone would really care. No one would miss the murdering zombie brother.
'you wanna talk about it?' red asks, slowly pacing closer.
Red is close now. A few feet away. Close enough to grab him.
' what do you want? Someone break out? Or do you want to blame for what ever body is found this time'
He hasn't killed in ages. Kept to the rule. Not that anyone believes him.
' no. I was actually just passing by when I saw you. Thought you may want to rant or something. I know B talked to you earlier.'
'talked? Huh yeah is that what we're calling being yelled at about not acting like part of the family'
Red steps up next to him. Standing on the edge with him. Looking out to the hell that is Gotham.
Red sighs. Looks at hood. Eyes tired with an understanding he shouldn't have.
'at least he wants you back. He never wanted me to begin with.'
' he was a mess, nearly murdering simple muggers, dick wouldn't come back. He needed someone to be there. To rain him in. To look after him, to make him eat and sleep '
'shit replacement, you sound like you became his nanny not his son.'
Red stayed quiet. Eyes out to the horizon.
'he never wanted me. They never wanted me'
Hood looked at red robin, standing with his toes over the edge. Empty and tired and done with a family who says they want him but never actually show it.
'if I didn't know you I'd be worried with how close you are to that edge' hood says quietly, turning to look out at the skyline again.
'maybe you don't know me then.'
They stand for what seems like hours but was only minutes. Staring out into the distance. The city they can't leave with the family that doesn't truly want them.
In the clocktower oracle hold her hand over he mouth, holding back the tears that threaten to spill. Listening through the coms she hacked to make sure hood didn't go on a rampage. Hearing two of her friends stand on an edge that noone realised that they were close to. Hoping that noone gives that final push before she tries to figure out how to fix this.
Side note. I'm dyslexic. And tired. Don't come at me for spelling or grammar or what not.
