I found McCree’s reaction to Reyes deciding to kill that man very interesting. It makes sense that he’d be angry because the consequences were so severe, but I think there was more to it than that.

I think all three of the team members’ reactions spoke about their backgrounds. Genji is used to seeing this kind of thing - he’s literally from one of the most dangerous and influential mafias in the world. He even agrees that Reyes made the right choice. Moira has always been an “end justifies the means” kind of person. She probably understands Reyes’ thinking, even if his choice put them all in danger. She’s a devil’s advocate.

But McCree. McCree didn’t like it because it “felt like an execution”. Considering his background in the Deadlock gang, you’d think he’d be used to seeing leaders make themselves the judge, jury, and executioner. But that’s probably why he was shocked and angry to see Reyes do it. Reyes, who picked him up out of the filth and offered him a chance to be more than just a common gang member. Reyes, who saw potential in McCree when most everyone else wanted him thrown in jail. Reyes, the man McCree trusted, followed, and admired. This seems like the first thing Reyes has ever done that betrayed that trust. McCree “didn’t sign up for this” - he didn’t sign up for just another gang killing to get what they want. He had deluded himself into thinking he could use his sharpshooting for justice while working for Blackwatch… But instead found more of the same. This event really was the thing that made everything fall apart.

I like the idea of Mercy running to Genji as soon as he comes back from the mission, being worried and skeptical of Gabe, listing off things that could have gone bad to hurt the cyborg ninja since he's still being healed, and Genji is just trying not to let his emotions show of how appreciative and warm he feels hearing the doctor sound so worried about him, making up excuses in his head that it's only because he's a "weapon" to Overwatch and Blackwatch.

Mercy is looking over his prosthetic arm, which is barely hanging on by a few wires and telling him that she has to see him now. Her worry leaks into all her words, melting through his hard chest and hitting a soft spot but he hardly believes it.  

He’s just a weapon. Her care is just for Blackwatch’s weapon. Her soft, kind words aren’t for him. Her worry isn’t for him.

But, softly, he tells her that he will do better next time to take care of himself when she asks him to. That doesn’t help the warmth in his chest at her blue eyes focused only on him.

Edit: I’ve begrudgingly moved McCree to the “said fuck” category. There were two reasons why I put him into “Legally can’t say” category initially. But the first reason is pretty flimsy so I’ll confess my real reason.

Rendezvous

Genji fulfills a promise that he made with Mercy after her long mission. Once again, they find themselves in a locker room, not too far from where they had first encountered each other. 

Romance. NSFW.

Mercy smiled and waved at the team as they each exited the Orca, each doing the same after the completion of the flawless mission. It was a simple one, with minimal combat and more along the lines of data collection. There were a few dangerous moments, but in the end, they were still the best team in the world. At least that’s what she liked to believe.

In any case, the angel let out a soft sigh of relief at the outcome of the mission. She spent some time tidying up the ship, tucking papers into folders and turning off data pads that were unneeded. After one last walk around the ship, she disembarked, thanking the crew working on minor repairs and refueling of the shuttle for the next mission that could happen at any time.

Though it definitely meant that she left much later than the others, it was not as if she really minded. She could always catch up to them in the dining hall where they had planned to rendezvous at after showering and doing whatever else they needed to do.

A week passed uneventfully for Genji. Well, he had training sessions with the others as always and he continued to work on his skills himself. Despite the prosthetics that gave him limbs and capabilities almost identical to those that he once possessed, he was not the same man. Even if his body moved the same, he had to keep working on fine-tuning even the smallest of movements to properly execute some of his old moves.

It didn’t feel like his body anymore. Not a single part of him felt like his body anymore. Even his flesh arm, still finely built, was coiled with red tubes here and there. None of it felt natural, and while he was alive, he definitely did not feel as such.

He didn’t know who to hate. Should he hate his brother for inflicting this scar upon him? Should he hate himself for what he had become and the mistake he made that landed him here? Should he hate Overwatch for using him like this?

Or perhaps, should he bring it out on that young doctor that seemed so naive and optimistic, especially when she was probably the one that put his body in this state.
