QUARANTINE SURVIVAL GUIDE: EMPATH EDITION
protect your vibe- one can easily become absorbed in the panic of this pandemic. It’s vital for empaths to shield themselves in some form to protect their energy. E.g. visualization techniques, using crystals or asking angels assistance (if you believe/work with them)
honor your sensitivity- your abilities are a gift, but can appear as a curse if you are overwhelmed or don’t know how to identify your feelings from others. Take time to recharge and rest often. Fuel your body with natural foods, avoid processed and sugary foods as much as possible. Meditate.
stay grounded- its easy to be in our heads about things, especially when times are uncertain. Staying grounded will prevent overthinking and unhealthy coping mechanisms. Ways to ground yourself: go through 5 senses of sensations, go forest bathing, do yoga, cold shower, contact someone who is grounded
stay connected to *positive* people- its poor spiritual hygiene to allow everyone to have access to you, be discerning about what type of energy you allow in your life. Choose energy that uplifts and supports you. Avoid draining and chaotic energy. Block or unfollow if necessary. Reply when you feel like it, not when you think you “should.” Reach out when you’ve taken care of yourself first.
hermit mode- find something to research that you’re passionate about. Be in the pursuit of knowledge, let that drive be an anchor for you when you feel aloof. The work will be waiting for you to complete and give you a purpose.
calming ritual- when the pandemic gets to me, I have a few unwinding rituals. Here are some: mediate, listen to music and smoke weed, video call my best friend, find a new show to binge, go for a walk, do chores. Basically, anything that will shift your focus enough and is calming for your system will work as a calming ritual.
unplug- Different forms of technology have varying effects on your energy levels, do what feels comfortable. Being around electromagnets can be draining and cause anxiety. Take breaks from your devices and try to have one day a week you’re offline. Ask to call someone if it’s too draining for you to text (or vice versa), turn your phone off and read articles on your laptop (disable notifications so you won’t have interference of outside energy), turn off all devices and journal.
