OVER THE YEARS kit’s come to quietly accept the eccentric behaviour of jade’s best friend. where she once would have mocked, maybe even tormented, she simply rolls her eyes and snorts. “ you might rethink the whole ‘ no shoes ’ thing if the dirt started sizzling under your feet. ” to her credit she doesn’t press warm palms against the ground to see it crackle like flames against coal but she DOES consider it. ( restraint doesn’t come easy so she congratulates herself when she manages it. ) “ just saying. ” there’s restraint but also a flicker of amusement as she lifts her hands, a small ball of flame growing between them. she blows on it with an amused lift of her brows, watches the smoke rise before she pats her hands against the pleats of her uniform skirt.
there’s A L W A Y S a silent understanding as far as some sublevel of empathy and kindness goes; she had and would always be someone who understood the world on some deeper level and certainly in ways few others cared to ATTEMPT. Her grandma used to describe it as a trait which her mother had and ever since, granted maybe because it came at a comfort, she’d held onto it. Maybe it also just made it easier to understand her best friend’s sort-of girlfriend and she was grateful that even from the fairy realm, her parents had given her something of value — something worth it. “ I almost burnt my foot on hot sand once; holidays when the UK is extremely warm never worked out well for me... ” she doesn’t remember too many of them; her grandmother got too old to travel too far and in the end, she’d prefer the woods or forests over a beach ( probably a fairy thing ). “ you’ve got better at that by the way. ” it’s a side comment something she mentions as she idly and without much thought passes a spark from finger to finger, almost wishing she could hum contently without being aware that doing so was rude. “ I’m still all spark without the...uh — punch?...that’s how you’d put it right? ”

“ it’s spring. everything’s blooming. ” she’s already untying her shoes, never one to bow to a challenge. henley wasn’t one, was too innocent and pure and everything she wasn’t. but there are certain bases to her personality she can’t let go of. she throws her shoes off, holds onto them by their laces as she jogs to make up for the distance she’d lost taking them off. “ don’t step on a snake. i don’t know how to do that sucking thing. ” it’s said with a smile and a vague gesture, easing the sincerity of it. she’d probably figure it out if the moment came, adrenaline mixed with fear would have her remembering what she saw bear grylls do that one time nothing else was on tv. but she’d still prefer not to. “ okay? i’m serious. ” she’s sincere rarely, likes to play to fun and to impulsivity. and don’t get her wrong, she is. it’s the reason she’s followed henley out here knowing they’ll both be late for god knows what. but, if she’s entirely guilty of protecting her best friend a little more than necessary, she’ll argue it’s for a good cause. ( she really is becoming her father. )
she takes her friends queue in joining in as a W E L C O M E D companion, if only because the rate in which people tend to look at her and choose to join rather than do nothing is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than she’d like — people were never as free as they believed they were. The mind was its own prison; where it gave limitations set the bars in which those that mocked or didn’t understand would be left to stand behind. “ I actually learned this spell the other day, ” something she finds wonderful about Healing Magic is the adept way in which it teaches her to cope with such...ORDINARY things, there is a softer smile, however. “ though when in doubt, I would just fly away, J. ” if only things were that EASY, the way her grandmother used to describe things often left her with this warm feeling about how easy it would be to leap off a wall and fly further than she’d gone before but it did seem all a little too Peter Pan ( not that she was complaining ). “ we could explore the forest; it seems worth missing a KS... — go see what we can find? ”
finding herself outside was A L W A Y S the goal and certainly where she found herself thriving; she’d never been one to say it was easier to breathe inside where she was stuck or trapped. the worst cage in her mind was the ones that were built within four walls — a school or a house ( they were all the same ). “ It’s nice out here; I can smell the grass and the flowers... ” the wood of the trees and the way everything smelt HAPPIER both collectively or merely in general. “ Who needs shoes, right? ” it was something said almost seriously and with a faint smile, something painted more serious by the fact she’d thrown her shoes to the side moments ago.

walking into class a minute before the late bell rings and the door’s closed. how morgan’s always late, he’ll never know. ACTUALLY, that was the biggest lie ever, but that was an entirely different predicament and one he didn’t care to fix. his actual predicament fell into the concentration type, which was admittedly saying a lot. typically halfway through the school day, morgan NAPPED. he would give up, adjust himself in his desk in a position (hopefully) the teacher won’t take notice and just NAPS. but the reason he couldn’t concentrate in this moment had little to do with his habit of sleeping anywhere and at any time. in fact, he hasn’t even napped yet ( the most horrifying thing ever, he knows ). hell, he couldn’t even think about napping. all morgan could focus on was that weird HUMMING from outside. “the fuck…” was class almost over? ( he literally walked in minutes ago, and he was aching for the reprieve ). just to see what that fucking noise was– “you hear that too, right?” he wasn’t going insane, there was a humming outside and it was LOUD. @arcanasstarters
there’s a distinct way in which her brain had A L W A Y S worked; it listens while giving her the space to do nothing at all but be elsewhere. she thinks there’s an IRONY to that because being present didn’t seem to be something she’d been accustomed to ( not since her parents had died when she was a child ) though some crass and subtle reminder of her past didn’t change all that much. She liked to imagine she was present in her own way — because she was. “ I hear a lot of things; it’s probably just the vibrations of another dimension... ” a VALID suggestion in her mind, of course, she was the only one who typically believed that. “ maybe it’s just the earth saying hello. ”
pvssipower:
“i knew you wouldn’t resist the FREE FOOD. the way to everyone’s heart is through the stomach– or my irresistible charm.” a slight conceited smirk as she popped a fry in her mouth. whoever said vampires couldn’t ingest food was deadly wrong. she would rather DIE than not being able to indulge in the simple pleasures of life. “go on, it’s free real estate.” pause. “EXCEPT FOR THAT.” quick hand ready to snatch the cup away. “unless you want a literal full mouth of bloody mary.” no, not the gross tomato drink. actual blood from some girl named mary. @arcanasstarters
“ I really miss cake frosting... ” a C O N C E P T she was never down for was if only because she was reminded of being eight and her cousins offering her frosting to watch how she’d twitch or need to sleep eight hours to get it out of her system — she’d liked the taste however but nothing ever quite tasted as good a fries with sugar-free ice cream. call it her ATTEMPT to indulge for once but she eagerly dipped a fry into her ice cream and found herself a seat beside the window. “ I hope the moon is out tonight... — what does blood taste like? ” just something that crossed her mind for a moment, a brief silence as she ate the fry and found herself trying to open the window. “ Is it like sugar...or salt? both together is always a nice combination. ”

to say his audition was PERFECT was an understatement. clayton could hear the steps before he could even see the person. annoyed, he slammed his hands against the table ( he’d JUST sat down with his TEA ) and stood up to round the corner as he growled profanities under his breath. “i swear if you come here one more time i’m going to feed you to the giant squid in the lake.” this kid had the AUDACITY to try and sneak out for the fifth time under an hour. needless to say, all of them were failed attempts. “PARTY’S OVER.” @arcanasstarters
there was a lack of S U R P R I S E because when it came to him, it seemed to be a regular occurrence that a grumpy attitude was simply what the days consisted of — not that she ever found it all that scary ( he was like an angry teddy bear in her eyes ). So she’d INEVITABLY found herself smiling, some need to shrug at the offered notion given she’d try anything once and certainly if it proved her rather, out there, theories. “ A party? ” she let out a small hum, some brief thought to the mere fact that her consistency with what that meant still went against MOST of the other students as if as always she was the red pepper mixed in with all the green ones. “ I just came here for tea...— do you think the giant squid has a portal in its belly? ” she wondered if that sounded too out there, she did however like the idea of it; it turned something big and scary into something quite the opposite ( she imagined her grandma would’ve praised her creative thinking ).

She’s unique in the way she expresses herself sometimes or she simply just does strange things in a way that makes people question her.
Her grandma has a dog that's massive called Louis who Henley adores because she’s very much an animal person.
She has this belief ( if only because she’s never been ) that dead people’s souls travel to the fairy realm, a lot of her rituals are about trying to find it so she can talk to her parents.
She’s very earth connected, she likes being outside more than she does inside and has on several occasions found herself in detention because she wondered out when she wasn’t meant to.
She has an affinity for Astrology and Mental Magic, a strange combination but those are some of her favorite subjects.
She’s friendly in ways that a lot of people can’t be and by that I mean she tends to not find the same awkwardness in meeting someone for the first time like others do.
She doesn’t indulge in sugary foods all that often.
Her full name is Henley Cordelia Farren, her middle name being that of her Great grandmothers.
