Kit has never felt more utterly dumbfounded and pissed off in their entire life. How is it that the Ghost always seems to be one step ahead of them? No matter how meticulous they are, how thorough and airtight everything seems to be, whoever it is manages to get there ahead of time. It's made them come to the conclusion that the Ghost must be an inside man, but who?
It's been driving them into a frenzy, up all hours of the night poring over notes and texts and phone calls and wondering who the hell would be so bold enough as to stab them right in the back. This night is no different, anxiously tapping a pen against their desk as they stare at their computer screens. It feels like they're looking at nothing, that the more they stare the more complicated it becomes.
They yell in frustration, slamming their fist against the desk. It's only then that they hear the soft sound of footsteps shuffling by the door. When they turn, it's Alex, of course. As they stare at him, they have to wonder...
...It couldn't be, could it?
Of course not. He wouldn't. Right?
"Pardon the outburst. You can go back to sleep," they mutter, spinning back around in their chair. "I'll be a little quieter."
