Legend has it that wolves are the only creatures on Earth who know where the Paradise is. The planet enters the Ice Age.. People are living in domed cities encasing ruins. They believed wolves had become extinct centuries ago, but that is far from the truth, since wolves learned to project themselves as humans in mind’s eyes of people, and have in fact been living among humans for the last few centuries. They have hopes of finding a way to Paradise.

“ — Are you sure this is the way? I can’t smell the flowers anymore.” NOT that he was complaining about the others instincts, oh gosh no. It was just the thought of actually getting somewhere again with NO direct plan. Dragging his feet, ankles ached from the long walks. Noticing that he was getting a LITTLE bit behind, he quickened his pace and wound up bumping into Kiba who stopped, it seemed. “ — Kiba?”
he wasn’t lost. that wasn’t it. he’d just gradually started confusing that instinctive pull with hunger and hunger had won over. he was pretty sure paradise wasn’t in the direction of that deer he’d caught wind of. when toboe bumped into him, the white wolf got an idea. “ are you up for a hunt? “ he didn’t want to tire the pup out completely, but he was hoping food might bring up the general moral given that they had in fact been wandering for a while.

“ if paradise was heaven, we wouldn’t have a such a big problem finding it. “ He’s never been hit by a truck, maybe clipped one or two, but he’s pretty sure this is what roadkill feels like. When he does a quick run through of functions, he figures Hige’s concern may have been warranted this time. The blood on his tongue makes him especially grateful that no broken ribs poked a lung. Kiba shifts around in an attempt to get more comfortable and immediately regrets the movement. Too many things are bruised and aching and that damn leg hurts even more than normal. His paws tremble when he tries to scrabble upright to breathe, combining a sneeze and a cough in one. Tongue drapes over teeth in a pant, too raspy for his liking. “ wouldn’t be much of a wolf if I didn’t, right?” He remembers Hige’s first words to him and huffs a laugh. “ but you disagree, don’t you. “ There’s amusement in his tone as he slumps back to the ground, ears back and eying the gold wolf with glazed eyes and a snort. “ have you been standing there all..day? “ he doesn’t actually know what time it is, doesn’t recall much after head hit rock.

Did that make them friends? Kiba finds himself studying the other. Looking for a sign. He thought they were friends, felt like they were friends. Couldn’t exactly be enemies with the first thing to show him kindness in who knew how long. Finds himself tucking tail around legs, covering massive paws with even more fur as if that could somehow shrink him down. “So, I guess we’re friends then?” His ears are perked for the answer, hoping. Hige wasn’t a bad person to be friends with. Better than being alone, at least.

her eyes soften then, glazing over, hoping that she may comfort him in his moment of confusion. the all - mother acknowledges as such. he is right to question, right to ponder over what has been woven before him. it is then that the great light expands over the foothills, causing stars to flourish into silver fires. a breeze coaxed the halcyon leaves from their branches, falling in a lazy rain to the lush, living earth. she speaks not through words this time but through sensations.

for amaterasu - ōmikami is a benevolent god , & the weary warrior shall ever have her favour.
he can’t imagine them being alike. mortal versus immortal, divine and mundane. he wasn’t even sure she had dew claws or stood the way wolves were supposed to. with a narrow chest and paws pointed slightly outward. knows it’s probably taboo to try to sneak a peak at the back of her forelegs. maybe even a sin, but when has he ever cared about that. killing was a sin and he had plenty of blood on his teeth. it was hard not to when the world was against his very species and nature, maybe even the god before him, had granted the wolf such sharp tools. a powerful bite that could crack bone and a clever mind that allowed packs to work in harmony. gaze returns to the endless sky and the vanishing point of the horizon. the world is too big a place and one can only walk so far. wonders if she can fly or if she runs like they do. wonders if she has ever run paw pads down to bleeding or if goddess can even bleed at all. those markings would hide it well. how could one even injure a god if that was even possible. the profane fell so easily. gawks at the light and breeze and wildness of it. how it brushes through fur despite body being completely still. refreshing in a way. fills his lungs almost desperately with that pure air, intoxicating in its scent. closes eyes just briefly to revel in the feeling. almost sinks down until she tells him to bask. as if she were solid moonlight and he hadn’t eaten in weeks. may as well have been with how he stands swiftly. he can taste spring and cherryblossoms. can imagine never seeing clouds or dull cities again. he finds a pause, retracing previous words. of wandering too far and too fast, too driven to truly be blind. if she can see everything, he realizes belatedly, then she can see him. and feels exposed despite thick coat and never ending walls. she can’t be cowed by fiercest snarl or the raising of hackles that sent most things that dared spend too long looking heading for hills that were no longer there. but she is too wonderful to deny at the same time and he keeps moving. until that tender heat has soaked into his bones and thawed hope. until he is at her feet, tentative and leaning but afraid she will vanish the moment he tries to touch. “ and you will stay? can you sow those seeds? “
It is not the SOUND that makes her aware but the SCENT ——- predator’s introduction that raises the hair on her neck. He knows the dangers of hooved things. Gotten very good at ducking all sorts of danger including that which came with a leg attached. But even if he were at her whithers he wouldn't dare so much as show a tooth. There is a difference between being foolish and being reckless after all.
