What's a knetz
korean netizens - korean k-pop fans who are online basically
do you think idols gravitate towards foreigners either because of their own sexual desire or romantic desire orrr because of knetz and how fucking scary they are.
via readings i've only heard of liking foreigners out of own personal desire, but i wanna caution against talking about knetz in generalizations here because korea and its citizens (and the kpop fans inside of it) are also broad with lots of nuances the same way international fans are.
i also think people tend to forget a lot of these idols were born and grew up in korea, so that's their home country/town, and what outsiders may consider overbearing or annoying isn't the same as what they might.
(not saying that you're doing any of this anon - just setting boundaries cause i've seen how online discourse can get)
i dont know i just get more used to what they would be like and am like yeah theyre not as cracked up to be as i thought or maybe they would have something different going on that they dont show so i more so admire them from afar hbu?
ooo so readings kind of make them more real/breaks up the idea of who they are in your mind - makes sense. i actually end up appreciating them more after readings because of those same reasons, so that's kind of funny!
i think 15 year old me wouldve dated an idol in current times but im so glad for readings bc i can ask real in depth questions and in turn it does the opposite effect and suddenly make me not want to date them so others can have them. its neither yes or no for me just depend on who they are as a person rather than an idol.
oh really? that's interesting! what about readings usually makes you think differently?

Will you do spicy readings👀
the idol(s) themselves would have to consent, but if they did i'd be willing

Who is this about and what group?
it's just general talk! but it came off me posting about ateez members' thoughts on being romantic with foreigners
I am not saying idols are Saint but why do we all always have to push the narrative of "hookups" "causual flings/relationships" "one night stands" & "causal stuff" label on everyone? I mean I get it this generation has it's things I am a part of it too but in the end they are human too? I seek deeper commitment and a heathy relationship and nothing like hookups or whatever if someone would label that to me I will be pissed off too. I think it's always good to not assume neither to live in delusions. What do you think? Because maybe some idols do seek heathy commitment or relationships?
some of the definitely prefer commitment over hookup culture (again, at least from the readings i've done so far). i think people usually defer to thinking that they engage in those things because society does see that as the norm in general, and it can kind of feel like you're the oddball if you're not into that.
i think it's also expectations that people usually have an "experimental" period of their life where they're trying to figure out who/what they like and part of that is interacting with people sexually. it's also because so many people like to pretend idols have no natural human desires ever and get upset at the mention of them dating/getting married/having sex in general, so the earlier it's implied the more people feel like they can deter that behavior probably.
would you find them interesting to date if one ever approached you? and do you think idols tend to prefer ppl who are down right deluded or someone more normal?
if it was someone i like - sure! i think i'm at the age where it'd be cool if it worked out but no hard feelings if it didn't, personally
from the readings i've done there's definitely a want for someone more normal - more of a fan than stan if you get the difference, but i'm sure there's at least one idol out there who likes something/someone a little more toxic or dangerous 💀
but this also makes me curious:
if an idol appraoched you wanting to date, what would you say?
yes
no
thats why its hard to believe if some of them actually are single or not as well bc i dont believe it? i mean the temporary relationships are probs easier to manage without risking too much but at the same time it kinda makes them sound like dreadful partners because theyre schedules and stuff must be hard to keep up with for someone whos not familiar with their idol life
even ones who say they dont have a specific ideal type surprise me bc i bet they do and theyre in an industry where its so heavily focused on the idols image they cant not have an ideal type to some extent but yh i bet theres loads that or sometimes my bias often says he wants to wait until hes met the one and as sweet as that sounds i still dont believe it because theyll have had some experience by now unless some really do try to keep themselves to themselves thats why i think it must be hard for them to genuinely keep ppl quiet about the relationship? what even is mentioned within the nda exactly and is it signed there and then or like back at the company?
yeah the whole timing situation when it comes to balancing their schedules is probably a nightmare - especially if they keep to being with someone in the industry because that’s two hectic schedules trying to be balanced, but i’m sure some find a way to make it work.
so far i believe everyone who’s said they don’t have an ideal type because they’re all around the same age and with how often they travel they world (and with how young they started) i think it’s genuinely possible they haven’t narrowed down what their “type” is.
with all of that, i’m also pretty sure there’s probably a significant number of idols who haven’t had romantic experiences (especially these new waves of idols in 4th/5th gen who are used to having their entire life history be on the internet or able to be dug up). it aligns with some generational problems (ie. loneliness epidemic), so i don’t think it’s hard to believe personally.
nda’s usually talk about the person signing it not revealing any information about what they’re with a celebrity for (ie. beyoncè uses ndas with people she does collabs with to be sure nothing about the collab is leaked before it’s fully released). i think often they’re only “valid” for an extended length of time, but some of them can be life long i think. in the US, celebs are known to have someone on their team like a manager or something keep ndas on them in order to hand them out to someone/people as needed - not totally sure how that works in the kpop industry though of course.
exactly and I was thinking how the heck if they do hookups or whatever it be they keep quiet about but have you ever done a reading thats totally surprised you? either in a good or bad or unexpected way?
i haven’t done any readings that are really “spicy” or out the ordinary really, so not really? only thing i might say that’s been surprising is how open everyone has been so far! celebrities have protection and stuff just like we all do, but so far everyone i’ve pulled for has been open to talking pretty candidly, so that’s been cool
