The iconic “Broken Rice” of Saigon
This is a project that I came up with when I had to stay at home for weeks because of the Covid-19 epidemic, and I or we (especially Saigonese), all remember and love to have breakfast with Broken rice dishes (“Cơm Tấm" in Vietnamese). We all love broken rice dishes as much as the famous "Banh Mi".
I return to drawing on paper after a long period of time, then coloring and finalizing on the computer. As a result, each individual in my pictures represents a collection of memories as I practice observing the surrounding changes. Hopefully, everyone will feel close to each other and remember their own memories. For myself, I love this drawing and can't wait to eat this favorite dish.

Non-stop Hunting For Experiences
I was commissioned by Biti’s Hunter, known as one of the leading footwear enterprises in Vietnam, to create a billboard image and a set of illustrations celebrating their launch event of Bitis Hunter's new product in February 2020.

It’s always fascinating for me to grab a random article and do a sample illustration for it. If you’re curious, please check out the full article here: “The Hunted” - The NYTimes.
I hope you like it and love to read the comments so feel free to leave them here!
Here are three sketch versions of a new book cover I’m illustrating for Nha Nam author Fyodor Dostoyevsky, whose book “записки из подполья” will come out some time in 2018.
I always do this way so that clients have more choices. It's so true. I think it's always a powerful tool to communicate better with them.

It really is a tiny world we live in. Ink on paper, 11.7 x 16.5", 2016.
_ I decided to grab an article and do a sample illustration for it. I decide to do some practices by grabbing an article from my favorite newspaper and try to do an illustration for it.

A piece I did for The Coffee House about Farm To Cup - The journey of a cup of coffee. Huge thanks to AD Kim Anh Doan.
An illustration I made for the cover of Monsieur Ibrahim et les Fleurs du Coran by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt (Vietnamese version). If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend it. Thanks ADs Tung Nam & Thu Ngan for the art direction.
As a longtime fan of The New York Times, I’ve decided to create the series of editorial illustrations and pitch them for some freelance work.
Article “Yes, Run for Office”
Concept: The competition for higher position in office is always fierce. In the picture, each window represents a different level of success. A confidence man is walking up toward a position that he deserves.

Article “Running Dry in Cape Town”
Concept: The image of the entire Cape Town city is reflected in a small puddle. The puddle gets smaller and smaller as the water drains. The gradual disappearance of reflection of the city in a puddle is a metaphorical symbolism of the city’s current state.

Article “America’s Real Digital Divide”
Concept: Image of a child watching TV alone signifies the lack of attention from parents to their children. The child is obsessed with what is shown on the TV. Nowadays, children are addicted to cartoons and other TV shows.

Inking is a process, often times long. I really enjoy the feeling of the brush touching the paper and I like it that way.
