The iconic “Broken Rice” of Saigon
This is a project that I came up with when I had to stay at home for weeks because of the Covid-19 epidemic, and I or we (especially Saigonese), all remember and love to have breakfast with Broken rice dishes (“Cơm Tấm" in Vietnamese). We all love broken rice dishes as much as the famous "Banh Mi".
I return to drawing on paper after a long period of time, then coloring and finalizing on the computer. As a result, each individual in my pictures represents a collection of memories as I practice observing the surrounding changes. Hopefully, everyone will feel close to each other and remember their own memories. For myself, I love this drawing and can't wait to eat this favorite dish.

Slow day, so I’m going back to an old exercise : I get my gf to pick an article, and I illustrate it. It’s basically training. And this time I picked an article from The Atlantic entitled “This Article Wont Change Your Mind.” And it’s about how facts, and news won’t stop people from holding their beliefs, even if those beliefs are proven wrong. In fact they like to surround themselves with news that agree with them.

2017 Design Team Favorites
As 2017 work year comes to a close, I wanted to look back and showcase our favorites one more time. We could’ve picked so many more but kept it at 20 to keep it tight. I’m so grateful to work with such amazing illustrators. And I can’t thank my team enough for all the support and hard work. Today is my last official work day of 2017, woohoo! See you next year! We are already working on first two issues of 2018.
