Adrianna, 18

"We may just be kids in way over our heads but that doesn't mean we're going to let that stop us." The younger sister of Alexander, twin sister of Aaron, and elder sister of Aidan, Adrianna is a member of a rare pure-blooded werewolf family, the Borgias, making those in the werewolf community see her as a Princess. Being a part of a Founding Family of the town of Dalcrest she is well respected within the community, even if she often conflicted with her Alpha and she holds a seat on the Elder's Council, despite her young age. Following the deaths of her parents, she was made C.E.O. of Borgia Mining & Steel meaning until which time she graduates a Board of Directors runs it and consults with her. She is a Beta in Dalcrest's High Pack and is a high school senior at Amberwood Prep. In her full werewolf form she is a black and brown wolf. “Wow, this place looks even better than I thought it would and that’s coming from someone who was at this party last year.”

      Adrianna states, somewhat in awe of the       Halloween decor around her. The party was       packed and the music was loud but she was       actually having a pretty good time thus far.  

                  “Adrianna Borgia. And you’re.. Bruce                   Wayne right? Mithian’s talked about                   you before.”

Plus it didn’t hurt that as a young C.E.O. of a company, she was aware of what other powerful people-- even if they were young-- were in town.

“You can take mine if you like?. Pretty much goes with any colour.” He handed her the intricately designed black mask that he wore to add on  his theatrical vampire gear. “Adrian.” His grin widened at the similarities of their names, and swiftly took her hand for a gentle shake. “Lovely to meet you. I think we should stick together, don’t you?”

A smile crosses her features as she runs her hands over the intricate mask. “Thanks, Adrian? Wow, what are the odds?” The werewolf comments, unable to hide her amusement. “How do I look?” She questions after placing the mask upon her face. “Hmm, I agree.”

“Oh, I have a feeling someone swiped it. I’ll have to get another one from upstairs.” Adrianna mused allowed, showing a certain familiarity with the mansion if she was allowed to go upstairs and get another from Mithian’s collection. “I’m Adrianna. Adrianna Borgia. It’s nice to meet you.”

❝ Well whatever works — even if it’s pretty disgusting. I can’t say I’d do the same, but I’ve gotten pretty good at controlling the more animalistic instincts. Good to know that you don’t eat people though. ❞

“It’s not that disgusting. You want disgusting you should come to dinner when my friend Jae’s over. He’s a kitsune, eats raw liver. Now even I think liver smells bad, but when it’s cooking-- I literally leave two miles between me and the kitchen.” Adrianna revealed with a  small laugh. 

“Your sub-species is unique. You have less control issues--at least in comparison to ours-- but the price is being less in tune with the natural wolf state. Evolution works in myster-- ious ways.”

“Yeah but it’s always better then the alternative.” The sun was an annoyance.  It felt as if she was in a sauna even on the coolest day but it reminded her she was still Moroi, which was far better then being a strigoi.  She looked up at the sun for a second before quickly looking back down. She could tell it was setting which she was grateful for.        When Adrianna questioned if she was a freshman she        nodded.  Even if she wasn’t, she still hadn’t been in dalcrest        for long.   She had came to Dalcrest to be among other Spirit users and check in on her dear friend Jasper.  She hadn’t regretted the  move but with the Strigoi attacks she had been careful not to leave campus by herself.        “Yeah, I haven’t been in Dalcrest long.”

      “I’m excited to experience a Halloween here,       I’m excited about the all the chances to dress       up and hang around people.”  “How many Halloween’s have you had here at Dalcrest?” Alice questioned curiously wanting to know how great it was.

“I can imagine.” Though really she didn’t have to. While Adrianna might not be a Moroi-- far from it-- she had grown up around a few and knew the toll that the sun could take on them especially when sticking to a more human schedule. 

       “It’s always interesting when new people settle in town.”        And that was the truth. There might be many old families        in the town but as a beacon for providing a safe place for        supernaturals, new arrivals usually both took some adj--        usting and offered exciting opportunities. 

“I’ve lived here all my life so seventeen thus far. This year will be my eighteenth. Most of the festival activities are the same every year but every so often someone does something surprising. It might sound a bit cheesy but with so many supernaturals around, Halloween is kind of our thing.”

“It’s not to say that I don’t eat cooked meat too. And just about everything else normal. But raw meat helps curb some of our more animalistic urges. The Mutts have less control, they usually kill humans, this is much less... well, you get the picture.”

“So, I take it you heard Jason’s back in town?” Adrianna’s still not entirely sure how she feels about that fact yet. She had loved him against the ‘better’ judgement of her family, and then he was gone, leaving her with hardly any explanation. She hadn’t allowed herself to wallow over it long-- refusing to give that power to the situation. 

Yet, now, with the prospect of running into Jason on the street-- especially given more recent history between the families, her emotions were chaotic even if she refused to outwardly show strong signs of how she was feeling. “Have you--” Talked to him yet? Seen him yet? Do you know anything I don’t? She thinks but doesn’t question.

Aiming to keep in shape, he made sure he had time for random jogs while Adrian decided that party was a good idea on a school night in a  heavily guarded house just within campus. He decided to just pick up his charge later, knowing for certain he’ll be dragging a drunk Ivashkov on their way back tot he dorms. 

His vision was excellent in the dark, but his mind wasn’t really into the proper focus. Eddie was deeply contemplating about what’s going on, the Strigoi attack and the stuff they found out in the Moroi archives. That’s just one of the other things in his mind that he he didn’t notice someone approaching. He clicked his tongue, immediately resenting this minor moment of weakness. 

“No, I’m okay. Are you?” The petite frame just collided against his dhampir build – of course that was worrying.

There’s a certain inability to stand still which overcomes her stance causing her to shift on the balls of her feet as she stands. It’s not a nervous habit, nor does she seem nervous, but more of an excited energy that encases her. She’s in the forest and she had been running in nature, allowing her wolf senses to take over and enjoying the moment-- at least until she literally ran into him. The energy pent up, it’s going to show no signs of dissipating soon. 

“Me? Of course I’m fine. Werewolves are kinda built strong and durable.” Adrianna admits with a small laugh.  “Seriously though, I’m sorry, I got too caught up in the run and should have been paying more attention.” She reiterates. 

“You’re one of the Dhampirs going to the college right? I’m Adrianna, Adrianna Borgia.” And she only hopes that for once her family’s reputation won’t proceed her-- though given that Guardians seemed to be briefed on the local pack’s existence she wouldn’t be surprised if he knew, at least by name, that she was some kind of werewolf royalty-- not that she exactly liked playing along with that title.

     Rose just stared at the girl as she spoke and even for a few moments after. They weren’t at the Royal Court or even a Moiroi and Dhampir school. This was a regular school in the human world. Who did this Adrianna think she was by talking about this so openly, especially when others could over hear? Granted, the only other people around seemed to be a bit preoccupied.

    It didn’t bother Rose so much that she didn’t say she was a dhampir. Dhampirs and Moroi have always had an intuition to be able to tell heir kind apart from humans. She assumed the same worked for werewolves.

                                   “Hey hey, keep it down will you?”

    She looked around to check that no one would listen in, but as predicted, no one was really around.

                                  “Thanks, though. So, I take it you                                    deal with my kind a lot? Weird, I                                    can’t say the same about you.”

     There was a moment’s pause before a small, almost amused smile spread across her features. Adrianna had to actively hold back an amused laugh. Growing up in this town it was easy to forget that it was different than the ‘normal world’ as her and Aaron had dubbed everything outside it’s borders. Sure it was true that with thousands of people in the town there were plenty that were blissfully unaware but there was also many that were aware-- those relationships having been established over centuries within families. For most people like Adrianna, as long as no one who didn’t know wasn’t in earshot, these types of topics was part of everyday life. And typically having grown up in town she was pretty well versed in who knew what.

                “Trust me, I get the need for secrecy, I might be                 young but I’m on the Elder’s Council. But there’s                 no one around us that we need to worry about.”

     Adrianna let her words sink in a moment. She knew that the Vitale Society took care of talking to new supernatural students at the university to help that learn about the town and what resources they’d have here but from what she knew Moroi and dhampirs usually fell under their own jurisdiction. She imagined the main Guardians at the school had told Rose about what the Elder’s Council was. Being on it, Adrianna wasn’t exactly one to tell what she could say around people. She was responsible enough to know. But she was good natured so the friendly smile remained on her face.

                “I’m about 99% sure that’s Ashley Emerson                 behind the bookshelves. I heard her voice                 when we were talking. She’s a shapeshifter.”

     The family feud between the Borgias and the Emersons aside, Adrianna and Ashley had never gotten along. Ashley took materialistic to new extremes and wasn’t above voicing her family’s sentiment of being unhappy with Adrianna’s previous involvement with Ashley’s brother Jason. Adrianna was pulled from her thoughts when the librarian came back in with her book, handing it to her before seeming to pause on Rose a moment. After seeming to decide something he turned back to Adrianna. 

     ‘Would you please tell Ms. Cleary next time she decides to pull a      ghost busters move and scare some kids in the library to please      refrain? I’m the one who had to pick up a stack of books from the      floor. Ghosts and libraries just don’t mix.’ 

             Adrianna opened her mouth to speak but then             closed it when she was cut off. 

     ‘Don’t try to cover for her. Give me a little credit, I might be      human but you forget I used to go to Ennismore for tutoring.      I’d know that laugh anywhere.’ 

                   The student-librarian turned to Rose to ask what she needed.

       Meanwhile, Adrianna looked apologetic and possibly somewhat strained. Sure it was Halloween but Michelle needed to stop being reckless, ghost or not. They couldn’t have normals running around screaming about ghosts in the library. Michelle and Adrianna had been friends for years but Michelle was a bit of an enigma. She wasn’t the only ghost lingering in the town but she was the most.. for lack of a better term normal and certainly one of the most corporeal she’d ever heard of but that had to do with a spell the Cleary’s had done to help her be. But as much as she loved Michelle she still wasn’t entirely sure how healthy it was that they all--her included, continued to treat Michelle as if she was basically still alive. Turning back to Rose she spoke.

                “I know this is random but after he gets your book                 want to come into town with me and get a coffee?                 I can give you the grand tour of main street right                 from the resident source. We could also stop at the                 local library to look at some of those books if you                 want too. And don’t worry, if you don’t want to it’s                 fine to refuse.”

      The girl’s name got Rose’s attention immediately. Borgia meant she was a werewolf. Truth be told, the dhampir still wasn’t sure how she felt about werewolves. She hadn’t had any terrible run-ins with them like she had with Strigoi, That didn’t change the fact that they were an entirely different species that Rose didn’t even know about until just a few weeks ago. And if there was one thing Rose hated, it was being left out of the loop.

                            “Oh right. I thought you looked familiar.                             So if you don’t go here, why are in the                             library?”

     The library wasn’t exactly the coolest hangout. People only came here if they had homework and their internet was down, see exhibit A in the form of a dhampir, or if they wanted to escape behind the shelves for a quick make-out session. See exhibit B, the couple who were noisily eating each other’s faces behind the Classic Literature section.

                  “Oh, I guess me being here                   would seem a little odd. There’s                   a book I needed but Amberwood                   and the local library didn’t have it.                   Had to come here to get a copy.                   They let residents check out books                   from the uni.”

     Adrianna supplied her answer, all too aware of what was happening a few book shelves away. Sometimes enhanced senses weren’t your friend. Granted, she didn’t really need enhanced senses to know about it in this case. The two students were.. noisy enough. 

                   “One free tip I’ll give you. Need                    academic texts come here, need                    anything about werewolves,                    witches, Moroi, or any of that stuff                    go to the Cleary Bookstore and                    Library. Just pull one of the                    managers aside and ask them                    about it. They’ve got a secret stash                    of books upstairs about that stuff.                    They also have some unedited                    history’s about the town.”

Alice rocked idly on her heels, her dress swaying.  She had her short spiky hair pulled back with a head band and her doll like pale sea foam green dress just made her look younger than she actually was.  Her eye’s followed Adrianna carefully, she  hadn’t seen many none dalcrest students on campus but the aurora around the girl was interesting.             She assumed she wasn’t human, it was always easy to             tell one thing from the other.  Yet Auroras were still just             colors to her.  She noted differences between different              moroi element users and how Dhampir’s shined differently. She was still learning.  Her eye’s occasionally flickered toward the sun and the beats of sweat coming off of her. The sun and her did not get along but it was a sign she wasn’t Strigoi so part of her loved it in an odd way.             “Yeah… But i’m handling it.” Alice assured the other.             Alice could have warn more clothes to cover her skin,             but she knew she would have been more uncomfortable             that way.  It was fall after all.  

“I’m sure you’ll see your friend soon!” Alice doubted if she went out of her way to visit him that he wouldn’t ditch her  completely, besides there was always the festival going on. Plus she had her extra intuition.             “I’m Alice Cullen, Moroi.” She shook the girl’s out stretched            hand.  “Mind if I join you to the Festival, I was going to peek            in and see if I can find some of my friends.” She really wanted           to check on Carly.  She still remembered how out of it she           acted in their last meeting, and see if Lissa or Adrian wanted to           hang out, plus she could get to know Adrianna better. She had never met a werewolf before.

       Adrianna’s eyes scanned the sky. The weather report        in the morning had said that cloud cover was going to        be minimal except for the days with possible showers        and thus far it’d proved right. Presently there was        nothing blocking the setting sun from beating down on        them, but it wouldn’t be an issue much longer. Soon the        moon would rise, she could sense it. 

             “That’s good. I know sunny days              can be hard on you guys. It’s kinda              like what happens on a Dark Moon              with us. Except, at least you guys              don’t accidentally pass out in the              middle of class from the sun unless              it’s P.E.”

One of her most embarrassing incidents on a Dark Moon was when she had fallen asleep in her bowl of soup right when Jason had sat down across from her. He hadn’t let her live that down for a long time. 

                           “Oh I have no doubt I will. We                            see each other all the time, he’s                            just busy today.”

        Her friend was a member of a founding family and         age differences aside they were both expected to         be at most of the same social events around town.

                                   Adrianna considered a moment before speaking.

                    “Uh, sure. Might as well. Are                     you a Freshman here? Sorry,                     it just seems like you’re kinda                     new to things in town. Trust me,                     one doesn’t easily forget a                     Halloween in Dalcrest.”

    It had been a long day for Rose. She was up early for fitness training and all of her classes decided pop quizzes were the new in thing. She was exhausted and wanted nothing more than go back to her dorm and collapse on her bed. Maybe she’d even sneak in a text or two to Dimitri.    Her homework, however, had other plans for her. The extra credit assignment from her English professor turned out to be a mondo essay on the parallels of Antony and Cleopatra and politics of the ancient times. Rose had read the Shakespearian play, but knew zilch about ancient Egyptian politics.     As she tapped her nails impatiently on the front desk, the stranger’s voice caught her attention.                                    “Oh. Ok.”    She ceased her nail tapping, unsure if she was offending this girl.                                 “I’m sorry, who are you? I think                                  I’ve seen you around campus. I’m                                  Rose.”

     Adrianna’s face scrunched up slightly at the girl’s nail tapping, her enhanced hearing picking it up though it was more the repetitive and scratchy sound that grated at her inner wolf. Grateful when the girl paused, she offtered her a relieved smile. “Adrianna Borgia.” She offered waiting to see how the other would react. She knew some of the Moroi students weren’t fully aware of everything that was going on in the town but based on what she’d been told the dhampir’s mostly knew that the Borgia’s in this town were part of the local werewolf pack. 

     “Oh you probably saw me when I was visiting Thierry. I actually go to Amberwood, still in high school.” Thierry was part of one of the founding families in the town and his family, the Rousseau’s, were the owners of an award willing winery in town. He was also a Moroi and a few years older than her but they’d still basically grown up together.

Adrianna’s in the university’s library waiting for the librarian to get her a book that wasn’t available at Amberwood or the local library. It’s then a strange  scent draws her attention when a girl moves to stand at the counter as well. How many dhampirs was she going to run into-- thankfully this time not literally-- in the span of a few days? 

     “He’s in the back getting me a book,      should be a back in a few minutes.”
