finished the poppy war like, an hour ago and i'm so overwhelmed. ngl the book rly gagged me a lot. i don't delve into my own country's history all that much past what were told in the history books and what i discovered over the course of my life from the internet. but the imperial japan references scattered throughout the book threw me off guard. the only atrocity i remembered being told as secondary student was our people was forced to drink soap water and not much else. but i know it goes way beyond that.
the book is a very very interesting read and i'm glad one of my friends put me on. can't wait to get into the next book but not anytime soon since i do have a few books on my TBR list. thought of starting the infernal devices first but i think i'm going to start the gilded wolves by roshani chokshi next.
some of the books on my physical TBRs are:
the infernal devices (got a boxset of all 3 books at around 18 dollars which is insane btw)
the atlas six (dnf it a few chapters into the book so i might give it a go again)
circe (dnf at 30% because i was reading it during mid-sem break then i spiraled into academia purgatory and never continue)
once upon a broken heart (alright i admit it the booktok girlies got me with this one. but i haven't read caraval yet so this one is also not getting cracked open anytime soon)
a little life (yet another book i bought bc of social media namely booktube. we shall see how this book will scar me. or not)
the god and the gumiho (sucker for cover)
the girl who fell beneath the sea (bought this book on my birthday last year but i never got to reading it)
shatter me (found a really old copy that i bought a lifetime ago stacked among my older books)
