Which OC is very critical of their own appearance?

i've been thinking of this for a while so. here's my incoherent ramble about it.

chance is critical of his own apperance to the point of utter fixation — mainly because he believes that his looks are his value. most of his past has told him that he'll get what he wants as long as he's desirable. this results in him spending hours trying to maintain some sort of presentability constantly and it bleeds into every aspect of his life. yes, even when he is not being watched, he is watching himself through the eyes of another person.

very "if i gave up on being pretty, i wouldn't know how to be alive" of him.

insectavora is picky about the way she appears. the environment she's grown up around has taught her that being attractive comes with privilege and if you're clever enough, you can weaponize it. but, unlike chance, she doesn't believe that beauty is all she has to offer the world.

insectavora yearns to be special. since day one, all she's ever wanted to do is stand out. it's part of the reason that she's incredibly devoted to her vintage style. chance may just use it for the sake of novelty, but insectavora truly embraces it.

side tanget, but i've always had the idea that chance and insectavora speak very similar, but when chance lets his guard down, he's actually much more casual and a lot less flowery. insectavora does not have this same quirk. the way she speaks is consistent. her inflection and her words are all a vague echo from hollywood starlets of the past, deliberately learned to be exactly the type of person to command attention 24/7.

she can't just be another person from the modern era, god no. to be eccentric is to be seen.

everything about the way she dresses, the way she wears her makeup, the way she talks, her name — all of it is pretty unconventional. she just needs to be seen.
