it’s your first christmas with hyunjin. it’s also the first time you’re meeting his parents. he’s already met yours, as you spent christmas day with your family and are now celebrating on the 26th with his. needless to say, you’re nervous. as hell.
“princess, you need to stop worrying so much. you’re gonna make yourself sick.” typical hyunjin. always trying to keep you from getting sick (isn’t he the sweetest).
“i know, but what if they don’t like me? what if i don’t live up to their standards? what if…” you keep listing off the what if’s, but hyunjin isn’t listening anymore.
“hey, listen. just go to sleep, we’ll be there soon. and i promise they’ll love you,” hyunjin turns on the radio and starts to softly hum along, lulling you to sleep.
hyunjin doesn’t wake you when you arrive. he leaves the presents in the backseat and carries you to the door, knocking with his foot. when his mom opens the door he shushes her, not wanting to wake you up so suddenly. he lays you in his old room and goes back down to see the rest of his family.
when you finally wake up, you’re greeted with an abundance of hyunjin’s baby pictures. halloween pictures, first day of school pictures, christmas pictures, everything. there’s a book on the dresser titled Memories, and you open to the first page. it’s a photo album; all of hyunjin’s favorite memories from vacations and holidays compacted into one album. you’re flipping through the pages when hyunjin walks in.
“hey, sleeping beauty,” he teases. “you ready to come down? it’s almost 6.”
you wave him over to you, telling him to look through the pictures with you. he throws an arm around your waist and rests his head on your shoulder. you look through the rest of the album together, making jokes, which leads to your worst nightmare. a tickle fight.
hyunjin’s mom must have heard the two of you laughing (more like hyunjin’s laughter and your pleas for mercy), as she knocks quietly before peeking in. she’s met with a quite…misleading sight. your shirt bunched up around your waist, hair messy, tears running down your face, and arms stretched up to rest your hands on the back of hyunjin’s neck. his hands on either side of your head, legs straddling your hips, leaning down into a kiss. at the sound of the door opening, hyunjin pulls away from your kiss, leaving you slightly chasing his lips.
“am i interrupting something important?”
a deep red blush spreads across your cheeks as you sit up and run your fingers through your hair. you open your mouth to answer but hyunjin beats you to it.
“yes. we were engaged in a very serious tickle fight, and i had the upper hand.” his face is serious while he talks, but that’s soon broken as he bursts into laughter. “no, no. you didn’t interrupt anything, we were looking through some old photos and started ticking each other.” you can barely understand him through his beautiful laughter.
his mom laughs and tells the two of you to get ready for dinner, as it’s almost ready. your nervousness comes flooding back.
“oh my god, hyunjin, i don’t think she likes me.”
he gives you a look, “y/n stop worrying. she loves you; i can see it in her eyes.”
you give him a doubtful nod, but follow him down into the kitchen. before you walk in, he stops you and pulls you beside him.
“close your eyes and take a deep breath. i promise on my heart it will be fine. my family will love you. just breathe.”
hyunjin runs his thumb along your cheekbone as you do what he said, taking in his words. when you open your eyes and nod, he pulls you in for a quick kiss, just as a reassurance.
the night is wonderful. hyunjin’s family is so sweet and welcoming, and the food is amazing.
hyunjin can’t keep his hands off you. during dinner, his hand was on your thigh. exchanging gifts, his arm was around your waist. now, as you all sit by the fire and share family stories, hyunjin pulls you into his lap. he rests his chin on your shoulder, his lips brushing against your neck as he whispers praises into your ear.
“you’ve done so well tonight, princess.” he presses a soft kiss against your neck, “i’m so proud of you.” someone clears their throat, announcing that it’s time for them to go. people filter out of the house one by one, bidding goodbye and safe travels and nice to meet you’s until only hyunjin’s parents and the two of you remain.
“our hyunjin must be getting sleepy. he’s not usually this clingy unless he’s tired,” his mom teases upon seeing your position. hyunjin mumbles something, unintelligible due to his lips pressed lightly against your neck.
“what was that, baby?” you pull away, resting your palm on his cheek. hyunjin shakes his head and nuzzles his face into your neck even more.
“thank you for everything, mr. and mrs. hwang. everything was wonderful. i think we’re gonna head up now and get some sleep, since it’s so late,” you say softly, already trying to figure out how to get hyunjin up. his parents bid you goodnight and you stand, preparing yourself for hyunjin’s complaints.
“come on, jinnie. let’s go to bed; you’re obviously sleepy.”
he holds out his arms for you to pull him up, and he rests his entire body weight on you. you wrap an arm around his waist, holding him up long enough to get to his room.
he wakes up just long enough to change and climb into bed. he whines when you walk out, but you tell him you’ll be right back in a couple minutes.
hyunjin is already asleep when you return. you climb into his (extremely small) bed next to him, resting your head on his chest.
“goodnight, jinnie. i love you…”
okay this one is very long. that’s what she said. so sorry about that. or you’re welcome.
also. i fell asleep writing this TWICE last night and didn’t save it. so it’s a little rushed but not really it took about two hours.
