It was finally your wedding day. Today, you and your fiancĂ© were finally going to take the most important step of your lives. After three years of being engaged, you were going to say yes to being his wife. These last few months have been the most beautiful; they have also been the most stressful ones. All that you wanted was for the wedding to be the most perfect day for Jaafar and you.Â
You were currently in the hotel suite, waiting for the makeup artists and your bridal party to come. As you were looking through your phone, you went to the calendar app. All you wanted to do was check your schedule for the next few months.
Your stomach twisted instantly when you realized that it was late.Â
It was late by two weeks, and you didnât realize until now.Â
A wave of panic overcame your body, your fingers began shaking slightly, and your breathing turned ragged. It must be because of all the stress that the wedding planning became for you. It was stressful for you and Jaafar, but you felt more stress on your shoulders when you put your singing career on hold for your wedding, which you donât regret at all.Â
The talk of having children did happen in the past, but it was agreed that it would happen when you both were a year or two into your marriage.
You heard two gentle knocks on the door. Taking a deep breath, you got up and walked to the door.Â
âHi, my beautiful sister,â Genevieve Jaafarâs older sister said with a smile.
Eyes instantly teary-eyed, and began sobbing.Â
Her smile faded instantly.
âW-what is wrong?â she said and instantly hugged you.Â
âMy p-period is late,â you cried.
Her eyes widened in shock.Â
âY-yes, I just checked my calendar app, and it made me realize that Iâm two w-weeks late,â you sniffled.Â
You leaned back and shook your head in denial.
âMaybe Iâm just super stressed out because of the wedding and my career.âÂ
Genevieve grabbed your hands.Â
Nodding your head, you tried calming yourself down.Â
âWhatever happens, you know that Jaafar is going to keep loving you and the baby. Everyone in the family loves you, and we will be there to support you no matter what. You are my sister, and I will be there for you both.â She said and hugged you.Â
âI love you so much.â You whispered and hugged her back.
âI love you too,â she said and leaned back. âI will be back with some pregnancy tests, okay?â
You nodded your head and watched her leave the hotel room to get the tests.Â
After what felt like eternity, Genevieve came back with three exams just to make sure that all the tests were correct.Â
âHow many minutes left do you have?â she asked while pacing around the room.Â
âGenevieve, I just did them all at once right now,â you said, and put the tests on the bathroom sink.Â
You walked to the door and opened it.Â
âI want you to see them. I canât,â you said nervously and winced when you saw the timer on your phone. One more minute left until you will know if you are pregnant.Â
âOne more minute,â she whispered. âEverything is alright, whatever happens, you are still stuck with all of us,â she said while rubbing your back softly.Â
All you could do was nod your head and lean your head on her shoulder.Â
âFuck,â you whispered when your alarm went off.Â
Genevieve stopped the alarm and took a deep breath.Â
âReady?â she asked, wanting to make sure that you were ready for the results.Â
âYes,â you said, giving her a small smile.
She turned on all three tests and read the small screens. Eyes instantly watered at the sight of the results.Â
âYou are pregnant!â she said, showing you all three.Â
âOh my god,â you cried and wrapped your arms around your tummy. A wave of relief overcame your body; you knew that it wasnât the great timing, but it was meant to be. Mostly on this day, your wedding day.Â
âYou are going to be the most amazing mommy,â she said and hugged you immediately. Both of you are crying.Â
A tiny part of you already loved this baby more than anything and wanted to tell Jaafar.Â
âWhen are you going to tell Jaafar?â she asked.Â
âI donât know when exactly, but today most definitely.âÂ
âYou tell him when youâre ready. I just know he is going to be ecstatic. Now letâs go and get you ready. We only have two hours left,â she said, and pulled you out of the bathroom to start getting ready for your wedding.Â
The ceremony was a fairytale.Â
It felt as if it were an eternity, but everything was perfect.Â
The second Jaafar saw you walking down the aisle, tears instantly formed in his eyes.Â
He looked so handsome. He was wearing his black and white tuxedo while staring at how beautiful you looked in your wedding dress.Â
As you were walking down the aisle, all you could think about was the baby that you were carrying and Jaafar. He was going to be an amazing father; neither of you was ready, but you were sure you both would figure it out.Â
Once you reached the altar, you began crying softly. Not able to hold back your emotions.
Jaafar cried softly, looking at you up and down.Â
âIâm so lucky,â he whispered shakily and leaned down to kiss your cheek. Â
The ceremony was beautiful.Â
The most important things that you remembered were Jaafarâs vows to you. The ending, mostly when he mentioned that he couldnât wait to grow your own family, was the reassurance that you needed the most.
You remembered how his hands shook slightly while placing your custom-made ring on your finger, and his voice cracking during his vows
When you heard. âYou may kiss your bride,â that was the magical moment. Both of you were now husband and wife.Â
All the guests erupted into cheers as Jaafar kissed you as if he had been waiting for this moment.
Which he did, and now both of you were set for life.Â
The reception was amazing.Â
All of the family members and the rest of the guests danced nonstop. The biggest surprise was when Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon sang a Jackson 5 medley for you both, which was very special.
You were happy, but there would be a time when your nerves twisted inside your stomach when your husband, Jaafar, would look at you.
Throughout the reception, you wanted to pull him aside and tell him that you were pregnant. Each time you tried, something or someone would interrupt.Â
Having to take a breather from the reception, you went outside to the balcony of the venue. The view was beautiful; it showed the whole city of Los Angeles. Slowly, you began your breathing exercises to calm down your nerves and regulate your emotions.Â
Your heart nearly stopped when your husband came out of nowhere.Â
âHi,â you said, and turned around slowly
âBaby, whatâs going on?â Jaafar said and walked up to you. Wrapping his arms around your waist. He had noticed that you didnât have any alcohol throughout the reception, and you cried more than seven times throughout the wedding and the reception.
âI-Iâm okay,â you said softly and looked down. Feeling guilt towards your lie.Â
He tilted his head slightly and sighed.Â
âBaby, tell me whatâs going on,â he said, bringing his hand to your chin and making you look up at him.Â
Your eyes filled with tears instantly, not able to hold back your emotions.Â
âHey, hey⊠talk to me, baby,âÂ
You took a deep breath and reassured yourself that everything was going to be alright.Â
Everything went silent, and Jaafar stood still for what felt like eternity.Â
âI found out this morning. I realized that my period was very late, and Genevieve went to buy a test, but she actually brought three, and all came out positive.â
Complete silence surrounded you both.Â
His eyes immediately filled with tears and caressed your cheeks.
âPlease tell me that you arenât lying,â he asked.Â
âIâm not, babe. We are going to be parents,â you said and started crying again.Â
âI know itâs not the best timing for uââÂ
âDonât you dare say that,âÂ
He said, laughing softly while tears streamed down his cheeks.Â
âIâve dreamt of having a family with you, baby. Most importantly, you have granted me that wish on our wedding day.âÂ
He looked at you with admiration.Â
âWe are going to be amazing parents, itâs never the wrong time with you, baby,â he said, pulling you into his arms.Â
âI love you so so much,â he said against your hair and kissed your forehead before pulling back a little.Â
You felt all of your nerves release, and you were able to breathe normally.Â
âI love you too,â you said, and kissed him softly.Â
He immediately reciprocated the kiss and brought a hand on top of your still flat tummy. Laughing softly and leaned back.Â
âI canât wait to tell everyone, and see you become a great mom,â he said and pecked your lips.Â
âWe will be great parents,â you said, and caressed his cheek. âNow letâs go back in, I need to go dance with Uncle Marlon.âÂ
You said and pulled him to go back to the reception.Â
âHe wonât do the body roll.âÂ
âIâm his favorite, of course, he will,âÂ
