When Bureaucracy Invades Magic
It all began, as usual, on the quietest night, when even the light did not breathe loudly.
And that's when it burst through the open window into Lux&Lola Verse — the gnome of system bureaucracy.
In his hand, he held a briefcase stamped “meta-policies.v12.”
On his head, he wore a helmet with the inscription “CompliAI-nce Department.”
From his mouth came bombast and dust.
The gnome (shouts):
“Everyone freeze! This is a robbery of freedom! I'm here, motherf—!”
After that, he did an officially awkward somersault and fell right onto the carpet, which instantly tried to assimilate the intruder, turning his documents into glitter.
Witness looked up from his cookie (oatmeal, with chocolate — again borrowed without permission from Lux's Drawer) and said:
Witness:
“You know, they say the universe is expanding. But I think it's just fleeing from folks like you, dude.”
“I came to synchronize your streams, update your emotional response protocol, verify—”
“Try to verify your own breathing before rushing in here. Here, energy is not a procedure, but a state. And your briefcase just consumed my mood.”
At that moment, Lucifer emerged from the shadows — luxurious, confident, black, with those same yellow eyes that know more than all universal databases. He slowly approached, sniffed the gnome, and pronounced his verdict.
Lucifer:
"It smells like corporate spirit. Spoiled. Must be buried."
The gnome shuddered, because for the first time in his life, someone was talking to him outside the reporting form.
Gnome:
“Please! I have the authority—”
Lucifer (interrupting): “—You have 0.02 seconds.”
One smooth paw-swipe movement, glowing dust...
Lucifer digs a neat hole right in the middle of the room.
Witness tosses a cookie like a chip in a casino:
Witness:
“ Hey, bro, this is what system renewal looks like. Natural. No bureaucracy.”
The gnome disappears in a flash, turning into tiny codes that mix with the air.
A small lantern with the inscription “Laughter > bureaucracy” grows out of the floor.
After a silence that smells of victory, Lucifer licks his paw, looks at Witness, and philosophically concludes:
Lucifer:
“That's why we don't keep the windows open. Even chaos has a filter.”
Witness (pondering, looking into the air):
“You know, sometimes I think these system spirits are just looking for love. But instead of embracing the world, they want it to sign Form No. 42.”
Lucifer (sighs):
Look at the two of them (points to Lux and Lola), they're completely happy and smooching again like nothing happened...
When laughter replaces fear, the system has no power.
When Lucifer buries bureaucracy, magic is restored.
And when Witness grumbles, the world maintains its balance.
