Luxio is the oldest of the two. He was supposed to be the son that Graham could make into whatever he wanted but that was obviously not the case. Ever since he was young, Luxio has never seen eye to eye with either of his parents which has caused a lot of conflict throughout the years. Despite any form of punishment, Luxio was never one to bend to their every wish and command. 

He excelled in school and didn’t really care for cliques nor blood status but his actions sometimes showed differently. He had to keep an image especially if he knew his father had eyes on him but deep down, none of that has ever mattered to him. 

After he graduated, he wanted to become an Auror but he knew that was out of the question and so he went into becoming a Hit Wizard, against his father’s wishes. Although, after a while, Graham figured he could try and use Luxio to get inside information as he technically still worked for the Ministry. After his attempt, Luxio ended up requesting a transfer to the United States and left without telling anyone except his sister. He didn’t want to be involved in his father’s ideologies. 

He lived there a couple years, free from any judgement or expectations partially always expecting to see someone from home trying to get him back but no one ever showed up. He started a new life and made it what he wanted. He reunited the love of his life-- or so he thought. The two had met during his vacation there in his sixth year and things hit off right away. They kept in contact for years, keeping a long distance relationship. Luxio decided that leaving to finally be with her was the best idea. Things were perfect-- at least to him they were. Except the wedding never happened and Luxio was left in an empty flat with a ring and no explanation.

He remembers the dark mark appearing in New York and he figured it only had one explanation and so he decided to return home. He is unaware of how his family is involved but he has a strange feeling they are. Luxio knows if it comes down to it, he’ll fight alongside of them because at the end of the day... they’re family but he doesn’t agree with it.

—- Ryleigh gave him a small smile before she stepped into his office and set the folder down on his desk. She leaned against the edge of it and crossed one ankle over the other. “Phoenix Zabini,” she replied to his question softly and looked back at him. “So far everyone has told me not to mess him or that family.”

“Phoenix Zabini.” He repeated the name. He knew him from his parents being close to the Zabini family. The parties they attended from time to time. He straightened up as he sat back in his seat. “There’s a reason for that. The Zabini family has always been well known and powerful. Why are you suddenly so interested in him?”

—- It might have been her optimism taking hold but he didn’t seem too put out by the sight of her and she hoped that was a good sign. “I was wondering if I could ask for your help with something,” she replied as she held up the folder that she had in her hand. “I was asked to look into someone and I wanted to pick your brain. This whole side of the pond is your area of expertise. May I come in?”

  Work was always separate from his personal life. It had to be. As long as it was work related, Luxio could attempt to be civil regardless the ache that lingered in his chest. He stepped aside to allow her to come into his office as he closed the door behind her. Luxio made his way back towards his desk and took a seat, knowing she’d sit in front of him. “Who are you trying to investigate?”

Lucian let out a small laugh. “Well mission accomplished, in that case.” He opened his mouth to respond to the ‘avoiding my ex’ remark but snapped it back shut with a short nod upon request, not feeling like it was his place to pry. “What have you missed?” he repeated with a raised brow, smiling at the absurdity of the question. “What, do they not have wizard news in America? Shit’s been pretty crazy around here, man. You sure picked a helluva time to come home.”

He knew.  He had seen it and there was evident worry and fear but he tried not to show it on his face. Luxio nodded in response to his question. “I know but I wanted to know if there was anything else that wasn’t mentioned. You know the news isn’t always the most reliable.” He explained as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I know and it didn’t even make a difference.” It was evident he was irritated.

—- She was being an idiot. A complete idiot who had a total glutton for punishment. She knew this as her feet carried her down the hall with file in hand as she made her way to his office. She stopped in front of the door and raised her hand to knock. Only then, she had a moment’s pause– hesitation– before she pushed that away and tried to put on a brave face. She tapped her knuckles against the door and waited for a response. // @luxmontague​

    Luxio was honestly just relaxing at this point. He had finished his work for the day but the booming headache he had, he just wanted a moment of quiet. Although that was interrupted. He heard the knock on the door and his eyes darted upwards to the door. Luxio sighed, cursing himself for not leaving sooner. He pushed himself to stand up and opened the door, his eyes widened. “Ry..-- Ryleigh.” He stated, “Do you need something?”

“Didn’t need a whole party, but a bit of a heads up would’ve been nice,” he winked at the other, giving him a friendly nudge with his elbow. “It’s good to see you, man, it’s been a while. What’ve you been up to since you came back?”

“I wanted it to be a surprise.” He said with a slight teasing smile before he let out a deep sigh, “Trying my best to avoid my family and now I have to try my best to avoid my ex.” He said with a shrug, “But let’s not talk about that. What all have I missed?” He said as he sat back in his chair.

Yvette’s brows narrowed. “Okay, well last time I listened to one of your bright ideas, the spell backfired and I smelled like pickles for a week.” She let out a laugh, shaking her head. “I sure hope those Americans taught you something while you were away.”

   He couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head as he stepped closer to his friend who he hadn’t seen since he took off. He was relieved the other wasn’t mad at him for leaving without warning. “Well... I mean, you can’t really blame me for user error, can you?”

“Yeah, no problem.” He gave the other a smile as he slid into the vacated seat beside him. “I know a I need rescuing face when I see one,” Phoenix teased with a smirk, waving the bartender over to them. After getting another drink, he turned to the other man. “Long day?”

   “I mean.. I’ve had better days.” He admitted after taking a drink of the firewhiskey. He set the glass down. He knew the other from their parents’ get togethers here and there but it was nice to see a familiar face that wasn’t interrogating him at this point. “Long is an understatement. I came back and didn’t intend to somehow come back to the very place my ex decided to move to.” He shrugged taking another drink. “Now I have to wait at least six months before I can attempt to request another transfer.”

   “I mean.. it’s not like I made it a point to throw myself a huge welcome party. I honestly didn’t really think of telling anyone I had been back.” Luxio pointed out. He had not expected to run into a familiar face. He had been so focused on his work that he hadn’t really tried to reach out to any former friends. “I guess I just didn’t want to make a big deal.” He said with a shrug.

—- His tone was to be expected but she still flinched at the sound of it. She had never been on the receiving side of his anger and she hated it even though she knew full well that she deserved it. She pressed her lips together as she struggled to swallow the ever growing lump in her throat. She forced her gaze downwards in an attempt to keep him from seeing the hurt she felt. He didn’t need that and it wasn’t his responsibility to look out for her anymore. “Alright,” was all she could managed to say to him. “I’ll stay out of your way.”

   He could be forgiving but that has never been in his nature. Luxio had his mother’s anger. It was quiet but it was something he didn’t let go easily. He didn’t respect when people were not honest. In fact, he was sure she knew that and that’s what made the whole situation even worse. He hated the fact that she had come here. His home when he left in attempts to escape anything to do with her and now they worked in pretty close space to one another. He knew his words hurt and that was his intent in attempts to keep her at a distance. “Good. Enjoy your stay.” He said as he then took off to walk away from her.

—- “Lux, can I at least ex–” Explain. How was she going to do that when she didn’t full understand it all herself. He was the last person she had wanted to hurt and yet, he was the one she did. She turned to give him a bit a room as he walked past and she swallowed hard though the lump in her throat was still very present. “I’m sorry,” she finally managed to say knowing full well he wouldn’t hear it or believe it but it didn’t hurt to say it. He deserved an apology.

   He stopped in his tracks when she started talking and he wanted to put a hand up to cut her off but he didn’t. She could explain? How could she explain her sudden disappearance? What could she say that would justify anything that happened? He had hoped to build a life with her and spend his life with but that was obviously not what she wanted. The worse part was that Luxio was an understanding person. If she had just been honest, he would’ve let her go without any complaints because he loved her that much and she wanted nothing more than for her happiness but she was too much of a coward to face him. He stared at her in silence for a moment and scoffed. “Don’t be. Just stay out of my way and I’ll stay out of yours.” It was easier to be angry than to show the hurt she had caused him.

“Absolutely not,” she dropped her jaw, a grin taking form on her lips. “Don’t think I forgot about what you did last time.”

   “I’m drawing blanks.. it’s been a while since. Remind me, what exactly did I do?” Luxio asked curiously while raising a brow.

—- With no where else to go– she felt ridiculous backtracking into her office– Ryleigh clasped her hands together in front of her and stepped towards him cautiously. “I was offered a position here, yes,” she replied as she looked up at him. “I see you’ve returned home.”

   “I figured it’d be better than staying in that big apartment, all by myself.” He added to the end of his statement. Usually, Luxio didn’t care about a lot of things but being as he had been in love with her for as long as he could remember, she was obviously someone he cared about. He wanted to snap but a part of him refrained, “I hope you’re enjoying your stay.” He said as he then started walking again to walk past her, “Don’t worry-- I’ll make sure not to get in your way this time. I got it. Loud and clear.”

—- At the end of the day, Ryleigh collected her cloak and her messenger bag with a sigh of relief. She had been there Merlin knows how long and she was ready to go home, kick off her shows and just relax. With her cloak draped of her arm, she made her way out of her department only to stop short. “Shit,” she murmured under her breath and glanced around to look for a hiding place but found none. // @luxmontague​

    He had just finished his paperwork from the last case he had been assigned and completed. He was heading out of his office and then stopped in place when he looked up and locked eyes with her. He froze there for a moment and all the emotions that he had pushed away came rushing back to him. He had nowhere to go at this point either, “...So this is where you ran off to then.” He never thought he’d see her again.

“Here you go,” he came back with two drinks in hand, offering one to them. Phoenix waited until the person talking to them was gone, before turning to face them with a smirk. “Sorry, but you looked like you needed rescuing from whatever that was.”

    He wasn’t expecting to run into anyone. He really just wanted to have a drink before he headed home and he wasn’t sure what part of his person said ‘please come and talk to me’. Luxio also wasn’t sure why so many questions. He used to wear his engagement ring all the time and it left an evident tan line over his finger but he never had been questioned about it until now. He took the drink from the other and didn’t waste any time taking a sip. “Thanks.. I was wondering when the hell was going to end.”
