Everyone seems so happy lately.
B-But I’ve already known chaos. C-Can’t I just h-have the peace?
Maybe somewhere, but not here. There's a war a'brewing and there's no getting out of it. Well, unless you fly somewhere far, far away. I hear America's nice this time of year.
Everyone seems so happy lately.
I-I understand the s-saying. But that’s s-sort of ominous. C-Couldn’t it just be calm w-without the storm?
Well, then it's not calm at all. It's just normal. 'You have to know chaos to know peace.' Someone important said that, probably.
Everyone seems so happy lately.
[Neila’s eyes widened at Lux’s ominous words.] Wh-What?
The calm before the storm. Y'know, it's that really, kind of creepily peaceful time right before something bad happens. And then bam! Everything's a total mess.
Everyone seems so happy lately.
I-I’m afraid I d-don’t. K-Know what you mean, I m-mean… W-What thing?
The calm before the storm. [Lux wiggled her fingers, trying and failing to create an ominous mood.]
Everyone seems so happy lately.
Wh-what makes you say that? N-Not the bit about it being l-lovely, the other p-part.
I don't really know. It just feels awfully...love-y, y'know? Everyone's smiling. But that could only mean one thing. Do you know what that one thing is? Should I tell you or do you wanna guess?
Everyone seems so happy lately.
[Neila shifted uncomfortably, looking wide-eyed at Lux.] Er… No?
[Lux grinned widely, a mischievous glint in her eyes] Well, it is and it's absolutely lovely!
Everyone seems so happy lately.
E-Excuse me?
Love is in the air! Can't you feel it?
Everyone seems so happy lately.
Yes, so unbelievably happy.
Well, okay, you don't look so happy. Why's that?
Everyone seems so happy lately.
I bet I know why.
C'mon.
[Albus only shook his head, matching the motion to the sound of him clearly his throat, he wanted to switch gears. Find a topic he could talk about with ease, one that didn’t trigger embarrassment or anxiety in him. Though he was having a hard time thinking up one that would suit his needs, beyond the different subspecies of dragons, or any of the other dry topics he’d read in a textbook over the last few weeks. He almost lost his balance and fell to the dirty floor when the buss pulled to a sudden stop. He grabbed blindly for something to keep his balance, his hand landing squarely on Lux’s mid thigh. Albus barely had time to register where his hand was when Lux was pulling him up and off the bus, his face a shade of red that made him look like the shameful owner of a serious sunburn. He sputters when his shoes hit the slush splattered pavement, trying to figure out everything that has transpired in the last five minutes, but finding his brain has begun to short circuit. With a tight throat, Albus managed to squeeze out the first thing that had come to mind.] Y-your hand is really soft, d-did you know that? It’s nice. [His voice went up an octave at the end of the statement, cracking over his own embarrassment.]
[A zoo. That's were he'd taken them. Of course she shouldn't have trusted Logan to go straight home. No, he had been planning a detour all along. He pulled Lux and Albus along quickly, causing her to stumble over her own shoes.] Logan, slow down! Oh, that's awfully sweet of you, Albus. [Lux looked back and grinned, squeezing his hand gently. She felt a bit guilty for dragging him into such a mess. He probably would've been happier at home with a book rather than being dragged all over London with her and a stranger. Finally, she pulled Logan to a stop and crouched down so she could look at him dead on.] What are we doing here? I thought you said you'd take me back to your house.
Godric's Hollow is getting boring.
Perhaps I should go sometime, then. Maybe after all this is over. [Mecaria slid forward in her seat as the bus stopped abruptly. When the driver finally stopped arguing with the shrunken heads he called out that Diagon Alley was the next stop.] Thank Merlin.
All this? What d'ya mean? [Lux grinned and riffled though her bag, obviously looking for something. It took her a few minutes, but eventually she pulled out a very small bottle containing a foggy liquid.] I made this at my apprenticeship, but I want you to have it.
Well, here I am!
Yeah, I live in Godric’s hollow at the moment, but I needed some quality time with my best friend, so that’s why I’m here. Also, I need to go to Gringotts. But mainly I’m here for Al. So, what did you do? Did you get him outside?
Ooh, Godric's Hollow is super nice. I visited Mecaria there, too. Well, it wasn't me exactly. I ran into this little boy who was lost and I couldn't just leave him, so I let him lead me back to his house. Albus ran onto the bus right when we got on. It was the coolest coincidence! We ended up just going to the zoo, but it was still super fun.
Mr. Rousseau taught me a new potion.
I can understand that but I guess with this potion, patience is key. Did he not tell you this before he gave you it to do? You don’t believe it’s true then? I don’t, I believe we make our own opportunities… standing idly around gets us nowhere.
He did, but I was definitely up for the challenge. And besides, it'll be fun either way. Exactly! You've gotta take action and go make your own adventures. They won't come and find you. Well, sometimes they will...
C'mon.
Alright. Okay. I-I mean I’ve got a lot of things I’ll need to do, f-for the next little while, but I’m not saying I won’t come. Just… don’t set a place at the table, o-or anything. [Albus wasn’t entirely sure what sort of answer he was expecting from Lux, but a kiss would’ve hardly been on the list. He wasn’t even sure it was happening at first, things were a bit hazy. He froze up under her touch, only managing to get up the nerve lightly pat her shoulder before she pulled away. He pressed his hand against his mouth, looking at Lux anxiously. He had no idea why she’d done that, or what he was supposed to think of it.] You’ve… o-okay. Yeah, it, uh… Mmhmm. S’no trouble… [He really couldn’t get words out of his mouth anymore, he was too embarrassed, preoccupied with glancing nervously at the other passengers. Merlin, she made him flustered so easily, he couldn’t even imagine the shade of red his face must’ve taken on.] H-huh…?
It's only an offer. Don't worry about it. [Lux noticed the deep crimson his cheeks had taken and was about to apologize, but was cut off when the bus slammed to a stop. A few passengers made their way slowly out the doors and onto the street, one having to rush back to pick up her forgotten purse. She was about to continue her sentence, but was, yet again, interrupted. Logan was tugging insistently at her hand, signaling that they had finally reached their destination. But something was strangely familiar about her surrounding. Had...Had he taken them to the zoo?] Why on earth are we here? [He didn't answer her question - as that would involve speaking - and dragged her toward the exit. Lux reached back and grabbed Albus' hand, so he was pulled along with them in a strange sort of chain.]
Mr. Rousseau taught me a new potion.
That is quite some time for a potion, I don’t think i would have the patience to wait so long… and it seems neither do you, but the stomping of the foot I just saw. You know what they say though, good things come to those who wait. Well they’re fantastically funny when they used to blow up in my classmates faces.
I...I just really, really want to know if it works. I can hardly stand waiting so long. Well, they should say that good things come to those who try to wait, but fail miserably. That would be much better.
