As if to further portray the gung-ho attitude, one arm was raised to show the imaginary “guns” known as muscles. Surely, he wouldn’t see a thing even if she wasn’t wearing that baggy sweater of hers.
“Surly though, your life is probably much more interesting than mine. I’m curious on why you’re here in Japan. Are you still living here? Or are you visiting?”
Hazard paused; the abundance of her go-getter attitude was, thankfully, still intact. One less thing to worry about, he thought. Holding a coiled finger up to his chin, he glanced down pensively as he thought of how best to answer her question.
“I am here on a business venture for my family. Currently, I am staying in a hotel, but I should be moving into an apartment by the end of the month,” he said, giving a halfhearted smile. “I graduate and return home only to be sent back to Japan within a year’s time. Had I known this was where I was to be stationed, I would never have left.”
He looked up, meeting Kurosaki’s vibrant eyes with a dimly golden gaze.
