Philip glanced around the brightly lit hall, surveying the rows of extravagantly dressed students, some of the girls in particular. By comparison, he wasnāt really a guy for an occasion or spectacle, dressed in a relatively plain black tux set and bowtie. Food and conversation were aplenty as he sat at the table with many of the Ilvermornies, his attention however occupied by a group of girls in one of the far corners of the grand hall. Well, one amongst the group in particular if he was being totally honest. One of his friends, catching where his gaze was, elbowed his shoulder āKoda? Sheās in my potions class. From Castelobruxo. Youāre in over your head if you thinkā¦ā Philip paused him with a simple āwatchā, leaving the table behind to approach Koda. āHiā he offered, with a genuine smile, holding his hand out āIām Philip. I donāt see a date on you despite that gorgeous dress and smile so I thought Iād fancy my odds. My friend back there thinks it wonāt happenā pointing Koda to the back table he had come from.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Being the awful person she was, she had been doing nothing so far but try to ignore a certain couple and eat her weight in chocolate, even when just attending was seemingly an invitation for people to bother her, both boys and girls who wanted to gossip or who didnāt know she was just not interested in ending up in a carriage with them any time soon. The people pitying her for not having a date were clearly trying something. When this kid, whoever it was, stood in front of her, told her shit sheād heard before and pointed back at his friend, Koda stared at his hand, then up at him, deciding to fist bump him instead of shaking his hand. āIn your friendās defense. He did warn you. Iām not interested.ā Because no. She couldnāt have fun. She couldnāt spend her time with Celia, or this kid, or anyone for that matter. She just went to the ball to torture herself and hopefully make it hard to get out of bed for a week due to her own stupidity. but oh well.Ā

Philip smiled, taken aback a little, more so by her fist bump than her declining his invitation. He met her eyes for a brief moment, as if trying to figure her out. He knew little about her but eyes seemed kind-hearted, also easy to get lost in. He laughed a little, his laughter accompanied by a small grin āI suppose I should have also mapped out what Iād follow up with in case you said noā Something about her kept his interest. After all, there were plenty of girls without dates here that he could try his luck with. āYou know, weāre only ever going to see one of these events in our lifetime. So you sure you want to spend the rest of the evening here just watching all these happy go lucky couples?ā smiling again āI thought Castelobruxo students were supposed to be more adventurousā
