The red headed male’s lips quirked up into a grin seeing the expression on his customer’s face. He felt really pleased with his work, almost as if he made the foods himself. “I’m glad you like it.” A chuckle fell through his lips as he nodded, leaning on one leg to balance himself. “Join you?” He blinked, glancing over at the clock perched on the wall. “I think my break is coming up in a few minutes.”
His eyes darted back at the female, nodding with a smile. “Since we’re not crowded, I’ll take my break a little bit earlier.” He snickered softly, pulling out the chair to sit himself in it, placing the black tray on his lap. “It’s nice to meet you, Saerin. Have you ever been to this cafe before? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you come through here.”
Saerin's eyes light up when he agrees to take a seat, appreciative of the company. She takes a generous sized bite from her piece of cheesecake, chewing slowly to really savor the heavenly taste in her mouth. She'd have to remember to come here more often -- good food, pleasant staff.
"It's nice to meet you as well." She says softly after swallowing, talking between bites with the male across from her. "I haven't been here before, actually - it's my first time. I think I'll come here more often, though. The food is better here than it is at the other place I went to a lot."
Steve chuckled softly as he looked at the two of them. Seemed the puppy was the perfect fit for her which is exactly what he thought it would be. A small grin etched on his features. "Well, actually I was hoping that you might find time for her since I feel like she is going to be neglected at my place." He said honestly with a faint smile on his lips. "So, I guess she is yours now?"
Clearly Saerin was fond of all kinds of animals, especially cute little puppies like this one. She doesn’t mind that she’s being licked all over, giggles bubbling from her lips as the small ball of fur laps at her face. She doesn’t have to consider Steve’s offer much; she’s already fallen in love, but she wonders what Joonhyo will think.
"I can take care of her, sure." She agrees anyway, deciding that it didn’t matter what Joonhyo thought anyway, because it wasn’t like he was ever around anymore anyway. She’s still bitter about that, of course, but it’s to be expected.
"Do you have a name for her, or wasn’t she named yet?"
For the second time Joonhyo was able to handle a long drive, the hike up to the mountain allowing whatever dizziness he’d obtained during the drive to dissipate. When Saerin releases his hand to plop on the grass Joonhyo removes the pack holding most of the essentials, for their night stay, from his back and places it on the ground beside her. Joonhyo goes to stretch, allowing his muscles the slight relief they were aching for, a sigh of relief escaping past parted lips.
The trip had been put off for the past few days, both of their work scheduled coinciding at the worst of times. Of course Joonhyo had been most at fault when it came to this. Taking three jobs and dealing with going to class on time had caused him to become unbelievably busy, often times coming home rather late. It was a constant back to back to back cycle. Saerin insisted on most nights to stay awake, to see him at least fro a few hours before they slept — repeating the same schedule once again, despite Joonhyo’s obvious disapproval.
A satisfied hum reverberates in his throat, kneeling down beside her he goes to his knees, leaning back on his legs. Grey hues drift over to where she lay, a mild look of guilt crossing his features at her words. ’ making the time ‘. It wasn’t as easy as before, spending time in each others company, constantly in contact — all of it going back to his work. Joonhyo had a reason for his actions, it was just something he could not directly tell Saerin. He could see how it affected her, being kept in the dark, hear it in her voice.
Joonhyo let’s out a soft sigh, the corners of his mouth twitching at a somewhat uplifting thought. All the work, all the misery, would be worth it in a few more weeks. He could tell her everything, his reasons for taking three jobs, the cold distance that had formed between them could shift back into a warm embrace. “Mmm, it’s nice and quiet up here. I like it.” His voice is soft, a hand outstretching to brush a few strands of hair from Saerin’s forehead, “I’ll go anywhere with you, my Saerin.”
It was a lot easier to be happier out here. Away from people, city lights, all of the conflicting sounds, and most of all, away from work; the one thing that's been keeping them away from each other. Saerin tries to hide it a lot, because she trusts that he is true to his words and only working so much for a good reason, but..
That didn't make it any easier for them to have to be apart. So, she was going to make the best of having him to herself for the day, and for the night. And what better way to spend their time together, than to spend it out here, where nobody could find them to get in the way?
Saerin smiles up at him and catches the hand that brushes the hair away from her forehand, guiding his fingers to her lips to kiss each one tenderly, a soft sigh parting her lips. She had missed him, so very much. A second without him was too long without him.
"Lay here beside me. I want to just.. lay here, for a little bit." She gives his hand an encouraging tug, though she's sure he won't resist. He's had to have missed her too, right? Today's the first day they've had to spend with each other in a week's time. They had a reason for coming here together, a promise he made to her, but before that, she wanted to enjoy the simplicity of just having him here.
The drive into the mountain range had taken roughly three hours, and by foot, it took them another two to find a decent spot that was relatively deep within the mountains, but not so far that it'd take them a ridiculous amount of time to find their way back. Out here, the air was fresh and light, easy to breathe in, and much better than the city air.
Saerin had planned this trip with Joonhyo days ago, but because of their conflicting schedule, they hadn't had the time until today. More than the reason why they came here, Saerin was just excited to spend time with him. It's been hard for her lately, because while her schedule was open between shootings, Joonhyo was now working three jobs and attending college. Nobody ever warned her that married life could be just as unpleasant as it was wonderful.
"This is a good spot." Saerin decides when they reach a clearing with a stream that ran fresh water in sight. They planned to spend the night out here, and they've brought all the essentials. She plops down on the lush grass and falls back, spreading her arms and legs and basking in the warm sunlight, eyes closing.
"I'm happy to be out here with you, Joonhyo. Thank you.. for making the time."

Just a heads up that I won’t be here very much for a while, I’m not feeling the writing mood and I don’t want to force it. I’ll get to replies as soon as I can, sorry to everyone who’s been waiting.

An anxious Steve knocked on the door rushed like. After a split second the door swung open and a tan shiba inu pup scurried inside sliding on the tile floor as it ran rapidly away from the soldier. The sight cause a soft sigh to escape his lips. "Saerin?" He called not daring to walk inside without being asked too. He made that mistake once before. Though, sadly the puppy wasn't going to wait.
A familiar voice floats down the hall and into the bedroom, touching Saerin’s ears and giving her enough reason to lift her head from the bed. Okay, maybe she’s being a little dramatic here, because she hasn’t left her bed since her husband left early that morning, but - she missed him, dreadfully.
Saerin lays there for another few seconds before finally dragging herself out of bed, planting her feet on the floor and running her fingers through unruly locks of brown.
She moves with a lethargic grace that’s akin to a cat, bare feed padding down the hall. Before she rests eyes on the man, there’s a small puppy at her feet, wiggling around excitedly.
"Omo! A puppy!" She exclaims with childlike enthusiasm, bending down to pull the furball into her arms. It laps at her face happily, to which Saerin giggles at.
"Is this your puppy?" She finally asks after cooing over the little puppy for a few minutes, still holding it in against her chest.
"Excellent choice, miss." He chuckled softly, a playful grin on his lips as he wrote down the order. "I’ll be back with your items, okay?" It should only take a few minutes." Chanhee nodded and walked away, handing his sheet of paper to the kitchen window. He continued taking other people’s orders before going back to the window, picking up the slice of cheesecake and smoothie as he walked back to the female’s table. "Here is your cheesecake with cherries on top, and your strawberry smoothie. Enjoy. If you need anything, my name is Chanhee."
He was incredibly charming, and it was probably what got him this job. He had the kind of disarming smile that pulled anyone in, the kind that could bring a smile to even the most forlorn of faces. Saerin's attention goes to her phone after he leaves, a leg crossing over her knee beneath the table.
His voice floats over to her and she looks up, a smile gripping her lips. "Ah, it looks so delicious!" Her phone is placed aside, forgotten, lips puckering around the cup's straw to taste the smoothie, eyes lighting up.
"It's really tasty, Chanhee-ssi. Thank you! If you have a break soon, you could join me here. You seem like nice company. I'm Saerin, by the way."
Being newlyweds was hard enough without adding all the extra stress. Work, Joonhyo’s absence and now things were getting worse. It was awful to know things were like that and all she wanted was to fix it. The fact was that nothing she could say or do would make things better for any of them.
“Cause he jus’ wanna give ya everythin’ ya deserve.” It didn’t make sense to her but she knew what it was like. Tony was the same way. He always pushed himself too much leaving Ray out in the cold. It hurt so much some times but he couldn’t help it. ”Soon things would be better.”
Saerin can only nod sadly, hues of brown glistening with tears. Joonhyo's absence bothered her, a lot, and she made that clear to him many times, but for some reason, he continued to stay away, working more than what was expected of someone. She didn't understand it, and despite Rachael's assurance, her heart still felt heavy.
"It almost hurts more than when he was gone before. Now, he has the choice to be at my side, but he isn't.. before, he didn't have that option.." Her voice cracks and tears stream over rosy cheeks, the white of her eyes red with the strain of trying to keep them at bay.
"That's the painful thing about making someone everything to you.. when they're not there, you just feel so.. empty." It was the best way to describe it, the feeling is similar to when he was gone before.
Jae Hwa can feel the corners of his mouth twitch as venom slips from her lips. It was amusing to him nonetheless, no one really had the audacity to talk to him in such a way, at least not to his face. The comment on his deceased parents does little to garner a rise out of him, it anything it just makes him smirk all the more. Why did one always resort to the use of ’ parents ’ when it came to another behavior? Was it human nature to do so? Or perhaps all just assumed parents were at fault when truly, more often then not, it was the child to blame.
Most of his life, Jae Hwa as been talked down to, by peers, by so called ’ friends ’ , and at times his own, remaining, family members. It’s safe to say he is resilient towards rudeness that is so deserving. ” You’re right. My parents are pieces of shit, I was raised wrong. How shameful of me, blah, blah, blah, I should have been better, nicer in life, blah. “Cue a slight eye roll, “Who are you to judge? What are you some self righteous stuck up celeb who goes around making assumptions about others upbringings?”
What did he care if he ended up alone? It wasn’t as if anyone really gave him the time of day unless it was for a quick hook up. Not that he was particularly looking for a committed relationship himself, but still. “As if I’d be so lucky as to end up alone." Jae Hwa grumbles under his breath, not bothering to wait for any words she may have and crossing the street the very second it was allowed.
For Saerin, it's rare that she'll speak a harsh word to anyone. His abrasiveness has managed to bring this side out of her, which says a lot in regards to the kind of person he must be. She's probably gone too far telling him he'll die alone, but honestly, how could anyone find him pleasant to be around?
As much as she wants to defend herself and argue with him, there's no point. Whatever she has to say won't change his opinion of her, and quite frankly, she didn't care much. If it's one thing she's learned in life, it's this: not everyone will like you. It's the ones who do that matter.
Maybe he had a reason for being like this, but it'd have to be a damn good one to explain his behavior. Saerin doesn't want to spend another second in his company. She passes him a glare as he crosses the street, waiting on the other side until he's across, and a safe distance away before continuing on her path home.
' Proof of God's existence. '
Yeah. Right. He’d heard that ’ excuse ’ many times before. To a surgeon like Jae Hwa there was a God just as much as there was a Santa or an Easter bunny. He can’t help but scoff, dark gaze fixing on her before she turns to leave, ”The only proof of God’s existence are these magical hands of mine. Do you know that they call them? ’ Gods hands ‘, why? Because I can perform the best plastic or cosmetic surgery in this entire country.” Jae Hwa is pompous, arrogant, and a bastard. Honestly, He’d been called such names to many times to count.
As she goes to leave, Jae Hwa follows, not intentionally — of course. The woman was obviously someone with a stick up her ass. So mellow and seemingly full of herself. It was women like her he hated the most. Jae Hwa is also, very, convinced she is lying about the nose job. She looked like the celebrity type. The type to please others. It was sickening.
It hasn’t occurred to Jae Hwa he was walking in the same direction of said woman until he glances over, caught in a crosswalk. “You’ve got to be kidding me…” He huffs under his breath, gaze returning the front, an obvious displeased expression on his features.
Saerin drowns his voice out as she leaves the cafe, not at all interested in hearing what he has to say. This man is the most unpleasant type of person she's had to deal with for a long time, and he reminds her why it's a better idea to stay at home when she has time off.
She looks down at her shirt, and sighs heavily. Coffee stains were difficult to get out, especially on white fabric. The most upsetting part of all of this, is that she can't even return home to her husband to lift her spirits. What a horrible, wretched start to her day.
She hears his voice again and her eyes float over to the source, narrowing. It was unlikely that he was intentionally following her, but as luck would have it, she's stuck with him anyway. His comment doesn't go unheard, her jaw locking in place.
"Do you have something to say to me? Are you really such a bratty, stuck up asshole that you're complaining about having to share the same sidewalk as me? Over something that wasn't my fault? Gosh, you must really be spoiled. I blame your parent's poor parenting skills. Obviously they never taught you how to behave politely. You'll live a lonely, miserable life, right up until you die."
Jae Hwa can’t help but snort, arms folding over a broad chest as he gazes at the woman — shirt stained with his precious coffee. It served her right. She had gotten in his way, had caused him to spill his coffee. It was only right she apologize. Jae Hwa cocks his head to the side, frown ever so present upon masculine features. ”I don’t want your apology, or the new cup of coffee.” There was no way he’d accept any form of charity from anyone, especially her.
It is easy to regain his calm, cool, demeanor. Dark eyes peering at her with mild disdain. So far his day had started off crappy, his mood taking a sudden plunge, and now he’d have to go to work — coffee-less and irritated.
“What I want, is for you to get out of my way.” The corner of his mouth twitches, a smile that wasn’t quite a smile thinning his lips, “Also, whoever gave you that nose job, did a…..well, horrible half assed shit-job. You should probably look into getting a refund.”
Honestly it's no surprise he declines her offer - Saerin hadn't really expected him to accept. She's met people like him before, many times. Unpleasant, abrasive, pompous; she hated those people, but Saerin wasn't the type to argue, so she politely moves aside, expressionless as she listens to his words.
"I've never had plastic surgery. My face is proof of god's existence." Saerin doesn't look to start a fight, but apparently he was the type to go picking fights for his amusement - that smile said it all. It's not the first time she's been accused of plastic surgery, especially considering her career, so she's hardly offended; at least, that's what she tells herself. His words cut a lot deeper than she'll ever let him know.
"Have a nice day." She turns a foot in the opposite direction to leave the cafe, in dire need of a new shirt.
Kim Jae Hwa was a simple man, so simple in fact he found the greatest joy in receiving his morning coffee on his way to work. In the past year he’d returned to Korea, Jae Hwa, had been going to the same quaint cafe, they produced a particular brand of taste he found very unique. Each flavor gracing his taste buds, causing a satisfied hum to lull from his throat as he peered down at his pho— or at least that was the usual reaction he had. This time however he found his coffee spilling from his hand and onto the woman in front of him.
”Yah!" He shouts paying no mind to those who had stopped an stared, tossing the , now, empty cup onto the ground — who cared if it was littering, this woman had caused him to spill the one joy in his miserable, long day.
“Watch where you’re going! You just made me ruin a perfectly good cup of coffee! and almost a new pair of shoes!"
Days were boring for Saerin now without her husband around as much. When she wasn't busy herself, she felt incredibly lonely, and relied on distractions to keep her mood from being too sour. Usually Saerin slept late but when Joonhyo left that morning, she decided to wake as well.
A quaint little cafe was the last place she saw herself going to, but she was resorting to different means to keep her mind occupied. With a solemn face, she steps into the cafe and searches the menu on the wall, startled when a warm substance drops onto her stomach.
What's even more startling is the booming, imposing voice that has her shrinking away, bewilderment etched onto her features. She stares, jaw dropped open in awe at his audacity to scream at her for something that wasn't her fault.
"I'm sorry." She mumbles, looking down at her coffee stained shirt. Luckily it wasn't scalding hot, otherwise she'd be upset. "I can buy you a new one." She offers politely, though she's really thinking she'd like to shove his polished, expensive shoe up his ass.
