Poor thing, she's dying from cringe 😔
I can't leave comments because of some network error
I made Alec hardy and his pathetic sad cottage in paralives for anyone who wants them!!!
Wee more paralives alec!!! For some reason he decided to sit on the floor of his bathroom and sob
Broadchurch again! The Millers and their emotional support Scot ☺️
Yeaaaag hehahabsbana I love it so much!!!!
Hehehe got paralives. Had to make alec hardy.
Alec being incredibly touch starved but just not trusting/liking anyone enough to express it is very important to me.
We can all agree that he's autistic, and something that many people with autism do is comfort people the way that they wish to be comforted when they're in emotional moments. Alec consistently offers Ellie hugs durring emotional moments (and is visibly disappointed when she declines). Also, if my memory serves me, when she finds out about Joe in the first season he holds her while she cries, at least for a little while. (He's very awkward about it but he does it).
There are also the multiple times that he absolutely strikes out with women because he's way too eager. That could be taken as him just wanting to get laid but I feel like it's deeper than that. It's a search for physical connection. But he's too afraid to ask for anything less socially acceptable than a one night stand. Especially from a stranger.
There's also the (season two, I believe) deleted scene with him seeing Daisy after a while and she comes up and kisses him on the cheek before running off, but he makes her come back and give him a proper hug. He holds it for long enough that she has to disengage and then she mutters about disliking "public hugs" and he responds like they've had this conversation before.
His interactions with Daisy in general are very important to his character. The one person that he is certain that he loves, that he trusts. He calls her pet names and hugs her at every chance he gets. He promises not to get "sappy" when saying how much he missed her, which implies that she has told him before to not get overly emotional about her. He had to be told.
There are moments aswell with Daisy where he looks like he wants to reach out to her but he doesn't because she's not receptive, and every time it looks genuinely difficult for him to distance himself from his little girl.
Alec having so much desire for connection and being so incapable of having it is so prevalent.
There's even a deleted scene where he accidentally calls Tess "love" in a high emotion moment and he immediately groans and starts cursing at himself. This man is bursting at the seams with affection and can't find a single reciprocal person.
Alec hardy The Character of all time.
He's a grumpy old man but he doesn't drink coffee or smoke (though he used to).
He has zero ounces of toxic masculinity in his entire body, (has no probablem with a woman driving with him in the passenger seat, is vehemently against the idea of sexual assault being "boys being boys")
He hates most food.
He's monotone at all times but is incredibly empathetic and will break down sobbing when left alone and stressed.
He's very, very good at telling when people are lying but he had no idea how social interactions work and will go along with anything as long as he's told that it's "what people do".
He's about as friendly as a cactus but the kindest man.
He's touch starved and visably disappointed when he's rejected hugs.
He adores his daughter more than anything in the world (and will make her give him a "proper hug" which often embarrasses her).
He's the most sexually frustrated man on earth and has absolutely no game (is rejected (rudely) to his face multiple times) but is utterly revolted to the point of working himself into a state at the idea of the kind of man that would assault a women because of rejection.
He doesn't complement people because he thinks it's obvious that they're doing a good job, but is also shocked when other people complement him because if he's not actively being praised he thinks his work is "adequate".
He's an atheist who believes that he didn't die in surgery for "a reason" and that the reason is to stay in a little town that he hates, with people he hates and sand that he hates for the rest of his life and to devote himself to that town.
He has water related trauma, nightmares and PTSD about drowning, and yet often returns to the ocean to watch the waves like he used to as a child.
His first instict when he sees (who he thinks is) a civilian who is about to see a dead child is to frantically try to stop her because he knows what that can do to someone. When he is then informed that she's police, he tells her to "put it away" because he knows that being overly emotional on cases will only make you mess up on the case and break a part of you.
Ive been trying to understand a more refined female form with art. Im more used to drawing men. Toph is amazing and I've been using her to practice.
I can't sleep so here's another hot take. Toph isn't the people say she is. I love Toph and I think she's an incredible earth bender and the way she adapted to live with her disability and later invented metal bending is amazing and shows how skilled she is. But people could easily defeat her. Including Aang, including Korra and if people wanna mention how they did in fact fight, Korra had been on a 3 year hiatus, still had poison in her and had not truly recovered mentally or physically at that point (except for the poison same thing with the Kuvira fight). My point being she was nowhere near her best.
But back to Toph she puts on this god like play for fun, she probably knows some people would win from her and she most definitely knows she's not invincible. That god title is just a thing people do, when she fought Korra and talked about how good she was she was very well aware that Korra sucked in that moment and she took advantage of that.
The thing that people just don't get is that Toph puts on a performance. She is a sentimental person and she cares about people, the show and the comics have made that very clear. But she acts like she isn't whenever she can. The same thing with the being invincible thing, she was terrified during the s3 finale fight, she knew she had weaknesses that could cost her her life, but if she can she acts nonchalant about it as if it was just another day. I'm sorry I suck at explaining myself, but I just don't get how this is so hard to understand, people do this all the time. People take advantage of things like someone being very weak compared to their usual self or take advantage of the stuff people don't know to make themself look good.
And this is in no way hate to Toph, y'all just need to stop treating her like some invincible godess and treat her like the human being she is with flaws and all.
Mate u are so right.
She amazing in her element. But that's it. Once she's off the ground she's what she doesnt want to be. A blind little girl. He'll she doesnt even get that tall as an adult. So for her acting like she's more than that is armour.
I think kung fu panda mentioned the battle of the mind before battle of the fists. And tophs gloating always felt like that.
Shes not some godly being, she's a master earth bender, sure. But she can't dodge projectiles for shite. So to compensate. Maybe she can intimidate her opponent into under estimating her. Or overestimating her. Make them second guess or become too reckless.
It's established the way she fights is by listening and waiting for moments. So she's constantly trying to find openings for attack. Idk
Ur totally valid though. I love toph.
