“I have a feeling I know who it is. But things must fall into place before things occur darling.”
“Oh? I couldn’t think of a better time than for us to share intel, dear.”
“Such a horrible thing to happen. Someone really is going to hang.”
“You’re absolutely right about that. Whoever this was is good, but I’m better.”
whoismirakaur:
“Oh no, my dear. Please.” She approached the table quickly after overhearing the patron about to order a glass of wine that would just ruin the chefs special – seared scallops in an herb butter sauce. “Please let me help you. You’re about to make a grave mistake.”
Lydia raised a brow at Mira’s voice, cocking her head towards the woman as she spoke and she silently cursed the woman for the intrusion. There were very few hours in the day that Lydia actually had to herself. “Mira, dear. I don’t know what mistake you are referring to.”
roxiewilliams:
“Is that a suggestion or a threat?”
“Take it as you will. Either interpretation serves my purpose.”
rebeccasheart:
Every now and then, she’ll get a sharp pain in her chest. It never lasts long, and it doesn’t happen often, just enough for her to hesitate, for her to stop what she’s doing and close her eyes for a moment, press her palm against her chest and just breathe. It happened again, just now. She swallowed thickly, before clearing her throat and opening her eyes, glancing over her shoulder and offering a small smile. “ what were we talking about?”
“We were not talking at all, actually. I only just walked over here, ordered a cocktail and sat down.” She crossed her legs, bopping one foot up an down as sipped on her cocktail and tilted her head. She would not pity Rebecca. Lydia held no pity for anyone really, nor did she feel sympathetic. What had happened had sucked, but they all knew the risk when they entered this lifestyle. They all knew that something bad could happen at any time. Plus, Lydia certainly wouldn’t appreciate any pity or comfort if it had been her. “I was thinking about Christmas with Belle though. I’m not Catholic, so I never had a Christmas. It was easy to buy for her when she was under one year old, but now she walks and talks and demands. What does one buy and almost two year old?”
capospade:
Around Lydia, James could truly be himself. The male feigned shock with heavy sarcasm. “My mother isn’t smarter than she displays herself to be? Colour me amazed, Lyds.” He chuckled quietly, head shaking as he shrugged off his blazer, removing the gun from the inner pocket. For a moment, he had to really think about who she was referencing, most Diamonds names were lost on him as they all had some nickname or other that people knew them by. Jackson? Which one was that —- not that he slept with that many Diamonds anymore for it to make a difference. “Oh, Jax. I suppose he’s pleasing to the eye, but forgive me for being stupid in asking just what you’re inferring? Does he think we’re in love? Or are you asking if I care if he thinks so? The answer to the first is a loss to me because we don’t talk about you, shockingly enough, and as for the second, I couldn’t care less. Our interactions are condensed to him sucking me off then fucking me like I want him to and that’s it. We don’t have heart to hearts about me fucking around on my wife.”
Lydia rolled her eyes at him, pressing her lips tightly together to refrain from smiling at his statement. She did like Vivianne, she really did. She liked the way people would react when she walked into the room, the way she held herself and the power that came with being The White Queen. She loved her whole aura...she just loved the idea of it becoming hers more. “It must be genetic. You and her have something in common for once.” She sipped her wine innocently, brows raised. After swallowed, she nodded her head. Lydia would certainly agree that Jax was good looking, wouldn’t admit that she was attracted to half the employees of The White Diamond. “I wasn’t implying anything of the sort, I know you better than that. I just meant that he doesn’t seem to have an issue with you being married. I’m sure there are other people out there that will have low morals long enough for you to...get off. Either that or tell them we have an open marriage. It’s what I do.” She shrugged one shoulder delicately, taking another sip of her wine. Lydia may be a bit uptight, but she had needs too on occasion.
detectivegunner:
“I don’t mean to be insulting. It was merely an observation. I’ll store it as a compliment if that is what you wish it to be.”
“It was a compliment. It’s odd that you thought otherwise, I barely know you.”
roxiewilliams:
“We were having such a nice chat and there you go ruining it with politics talk. Suit yourself, I guess.”
“Then you best run along, Red Riding.”
whitediamond-alice:
“Well if I’m being honest, I’m not sure if all attention is good attention, if you know what I mean. Especially attention about your name. But she carries it well so she must be doing something right.” Alice shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly as she smiled. “Yeah, they did. It’s sad how people are naming their kids these days – like spelling shit with all these extra letters. I’m so glad you and James didn’t do that. Not that I ever thought you would, but stranger things have happened.” Alice chuckled slightly and ran a hand through her curls as she listened to her sister in law speak. “All you have to do is sit back and listen really, the gossip will honestly come to you. People are surprisingly loud when they think no one is listening.” Alice had always been a curious person, that coupled with her line of work made her privy to a lot of people’s deepest secrets – even if she didn’t want to hear them. “I don’t remember that one, I’ll have to relisten to it.”
“Well, it depends really. If you were the one to instigate and control the bad press, then it well and truly wouldn’t be an issue. It’s when they get some of the really personal information that it’s not the best. Either way, they’re always thinking about you.” Lydia flicked her hair over her shoulder. She would never say that people thinking about you was ever a bad thing. It would be worse if they didn’t think about you at all. “No, James and I might seem like a celebrity couple in this town, and I see why you would think that, but we do have more sense than to name our child after something so ridiculous just for her to get attention.” Belle would no doubt do well enough on her own. With parents like her and James, Belle would no doubt be known throughout Wonderland as she got older and that was a fear that niggled deep in the pit of Lydia’s heart. “You must, it’s the best one from the album.”
cameronxpeterson:
He nodded, a curious glint catching in his eye. “Lydia, would you mind humoring me for a minute?” Cam leaned forward. “How would you go about committing the perfect murder? I’m talking the weapon was an icicle so the evidence melted away kind of perfect crime. Something that if your name was ever brought up as a suspect, they’d never be able to charge you it was done so well. Where even the court of public opinions would be on your side.” He knew she was good, that there were hits the police were still scratching their heads over. But this was different. “Let’s say James finally gets on your last nerve. The wife is always suspect number one. How’d you fix it so you come away clean?”
A mischievous glint appeared in her eyes and she leaned back on his desk, hands behind her so that she could cross her legs and contemplated his question. “The perfect murder? What makes you think that I haven’t already pulled several off?” She had. Of course Lydia had. She was ruthless in her job, completely unforgiving and unrelenting when she had a job to do. There were so many cases that had gone cold because she was good enough to cover her tracks, rarely even needing to bribe those in Forensics to help her out. “If it was James...I’d do it on my birthday. Spend reasonable time over six months making new friends, fill them with stories of how much I love my husband and our family. I would do the same with his family, and I would give him enough people to conflict with in his life that there are multiple suspects. Guns are so impersonal, so I’d put a bullet through his head the morning of my birthday and leave him with flowers in his hand and a gift for me. Who is going to suspect a woman who spends her birthday crying about the dead husband she loves so much?”
detectivegunner:
“I feel as if anyone else were to say this to me, it’d be a compliment. Coming from you? Not quite.” There was something off about the woman before her, but Tally wasn’t sure if it was in a bad way or not. She’d stay cautious, guarded, but for now it was tolerable.
“Interesting that you say that. I always thought I was very good at complimenting people.” It shouldn’t be as amusing to her as she finds it, but it is an she smirks. It’s only small, but it’s filled with mischief. This she could have fun with.
roxiewilliams:
“You think you could sing one now or are the memories too distant?”
“I think that I’m not in the habit of singing to Reds.”
cameronxpeterson:
“If by that you mean James is still the handsomest, smartest, most wonderful man in the world then I definitely know.” He chuckled, shaking his head. “That’s good to hear though. Glad she’s happy and safe.”
“Honestly, why you and James didn’t just get married is a mystery to me.” She rolled her eyes, hiding her smile by pursing her lips. “Of course. She has two killers for parents, she will always be safe with us.”
cameronxpeterson:
“Kinda thought you made your lipstick straight from the blood of your victims. Clubs always bleed a damn pretty shade of red.” Cam snapped his laptop closed, giving her his full attention. “So, how’s the family?” The thought of little Isabelle made him grin in earnest, no trace of snark or smirks. “Still cute as a button, I hope.”
“It is, but I can’t exactly go around telling everyone that. They would steal my idea and it would take the fun out of doing so.” She shrugged one shoulder before sitting on the desk, facing him. “Still cute, yes. Belle is adorable too and James is, well...you know how James is.”
roxiewilliams:
“I have a fondness for spanish lullabies, my mother used to sing to me almost every night.”
“That’s sweet. My own used to play a fair few Indian ones around my own home.” She had hated them almost as much as she hated her own mother.
whitediamond-alice:
“Oh… I do like Ashley much better actually. Halsey reminds me of a last name more than anything else, but it wouldn’t surprise me since people are naming their children things like Awesome and Apple.” Alice shrugged but quickly smiled, she had had the chance to change her name when Edward and Vivianne brought her into the Spade family but she chose to stick with her birth name – at the time it was so her parents could find her if they had ever wanted to (she had still been young and naive at the time), but as she grew older she found she was exceptionally fond of her name and wouldn’t have it changed for the world. “Amber is quite possibly the best influence in the White Diamond… she’s the only one who keeps me up to date on pretty much everything. Oh, I like that one! I also really like Colors.”
“Indeed. Much prettier. Though I do suppose if being noticed was what she was aiming for, then a name as odd as the one she chose will get her the desired reaction.” She crinkled her nose in disgust. “I really hope you are joking about someone calling their child Awesome. That is just...completely wrong.” She’d some some strange names. When she and James had been brainstorming ones for Belle they had certainly come across some odd things, but a name like Awesome? Amusing while it was in the womb, but not so much when it was an actual baby. “Now, I would agree with that if people actually let me in on news. Honestly, I might be a hitman, but I can appreciate a good bit of gossip.” In truth, Lydia was incredibly nosy. She loved knowing everyone’s business at all times. “My second preference would be Gasoline.” It made her want to set fire to something, or someone. She would have to show it to Arsyn some time.
roxiewilliams:
“What sort of music do you usually listen to?”
“Classical, usually. I find that it soothes me.”
