as much as I talk about riri fucking mad bitches to get over her one ex, I'm such an unreliable narrator. that's just not actually riri.

shuri would be the type: the type to fall head over fucking heels, unlock a part of herself she could never be as queen of wakanda with some civilian girl her family disapproves of, fuck up, and fuck a shit ton of girls to keep her mind off of you, and be an asshole to her one true love in the midst of it all.

riri, on the other hand, is the most awkward human being you've ever met. she only goes out unless shuri or miles or somebody drags her out of her garage. so when she goes out, when she sees you, when she sees miles talking to you, when miles sees her gawking at you, her life just comes crumbling down. she was lovestruck. she didn't even know being lovestruck was possible after spending her teenage years in schools and classes and forums and retreats and with teachers teaching her collegiate level math. riri knew she would never find that in someone ever again.

she doesn't even search for that in parties, or alcohol, or sex. she doesn't search for it at all (except for the times she gets the littlest bit of alcohol in her system and drunk calls you on all the numbers you are supposed to have her blocked from)(she's such a lightweight).

and even when she does stumble into another romantic situation, she wiggles herself out of them, because she could never fall in love if not with you.

Why is everyone on TikTok acting stupid about Marvel like they never watched the damn movies

Everyone is losing their minds over the ONE LINE in Ironheart where Riri said “Do you think Tony Stark would be Tony Stark if he wasn’t a billionaire” because she’s apparently dissing this saint of a man who was literally introduced as an immoral weapons dealer in the first fucking movie he was in.

But the kicker is the fact that she’s probably fucking right. Would Tony Stark be able to be where he is in the world without his wealth? NO HE PROBABLY WOULDN’T BECAUSE HIS INHERITED WEALTH GAVE HIM OPPORTUNITIES MANY PEOPLE DONT HAVE

Now listen, he is objectively one of the most intelligent characters. He is certainly not intelligent because of his wealth, but his wealth allowed him to apply that intelligence and hone it in ways others couldn’t. She didn’t say “Would he actually be a genius if he wasn’t rich?” She said, “Would he be Tony Stark without his wealth” and considering the most famous line from the Marvel franchise in reference to Tony Stark is “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist,” no I would say he objectively wouldn’t be.

I’ve seen people say he worked for his money. Hey so, NO THE FUCK HE DID NOT

HIS MONEY WAS FAMOUSLY INHERITED. MY GUY HAS NEVER KNOWN A DAY OF STRUGGLE IN TERMS OF POVERTY UNTIL THE DAY HE WAS CAPTURED AND AFTER THAT BRO WAS BACK TO HIS WEALTH

And Riri is a young black woman. I don’t know her backstory but I’m pretty damn sure it wasn’t like Tony Stark’s in which she had access to all this wealth and billions of dollars worth of technological equipment to create these genius ideas. She has a lot of limitations on how she can apply her intelligence because she is not a rich white man, and I feel like that criticism is incredibly valid from her.

This show is also from Riri’s perspective. She did not know Tony Stark so if her take is slightly based in ignorance that shouldn’t be surprising because she did not know the man or his background aside from the fact he was rich and a genius.

I truly feel like a lot of hatred either comes from

A. People who miss the old Marvel too much to give the new one the chance it deserves, or

B. People who hate that a black woman is replacing their fav white male character.

And for Side B, you do realize the argument “Warmachine is basically a black Iron Man and he doesn’t get this hate” isn’t actually as valid as you think?

The reason he doesn’t get the same hate is because never once did he move to replace/further Tony Stark’s legacy. For most of the series he was often pushed to the sidelines and utilized more as a sidekick to Tony Stark rather than his replacement. So no, he is not a black Iron Man because he was never Iron Man, but if he WAS in line to take up the mantle of Tony Stark’s legacy I know very well that he would indeed be getting hate much like Sam Wilson is for being a black Captain America. You just don’t want to admit your hatred for characters such as Sam Wilson and Riri comes from the fact you can’t stand to see black people be the ones furthering the legacy of a previously white character because you don’t enjoy when black people can see themselves in these white characters like you previously could, or you’re just too blinded by the past to give the future a chance.

All this to say, put some damn respect on Riri’s name, even RDJ himself said “Ironman loves Riri”

riri is soooo sleepy

a/n: unfinished, will def edit, js wanted to start off ironweek strong cuz bitch its IRONWEEK!!!!!!!

riri's had insomnia since she was a kid. her mind is so busy and wild that rest isn't welcome amongst her thoughts.

but since she's met you, all she does is sleep.

after the death of gary and natalie, her insomnia was coupled with vivid nightmares. for years, she attended therapy sessions, dodged therapy sessions, tried to smoke it all away, but her true medicine is you.

before you even started dating, you invited riri to watch a movie at your apartment. she'd mentioned her insomnia before, explaining why she sends you tiktoks and random voice messages at 3am, so you epxpected to fall asleep and wake up to a very awake riri in your room.

ten minutes into the movie, you were shocked; riri had fallen asleep. her head rested on your shoulder, and she let out deep huffs during her sound slumber.

when she woke in the morning next to you, her heart fluttered with an emotion she hadn't named. shockingly, she wasn't surprised, just giddy you didn't kick her out of your room the minute the movie ended.

as her eyes fluttered open, she saw you very asleep next to her on your couch, blankets spread over the two of you and the TV flickering with a random show it played after the film was over. a smile pulled at riri's face: you stayed next to her all night.

you woke soon after and immediately questioned riri

"good morning sleepyhead. you ok? you fell asleep so fast I was worried. finals just ended and I know you been working yourself to the brim," stress always triggered something in riri. it drove her fucking insane: her nails chewed to the bed, her feet sore from tapping, her eats ringing from blasting music. you were the first and only to notice. when you noticed, she did too. "I just wanted to make sure you weren't dreaming or anything," although she hadn’t gone into grave detail, the two of you discussed her nightmares. she’d never spoken of them since gary and nat passed, but you offered such a safe space for her vulnerability she could help it; the words just spilled out of her lips before she could stop them. it was rare riri got restful sleep when she dreampt. you continued, "and that you stayed asleep-"

"i'm fine. great, actually." her chest filled with something she would soon come to know as love. a smile slowly filled her face and her gaze hardened onto you "thank you."

"always. you hungry?"

melatonin never got her to sleep as restful as she did next to you.

slowly but surely, riri spent more and more time at your dorm, often sleeping over during stressful times: exams, after nightmares, whenever she gets into it with her mom. you were always there to provide her comfort.

riri sleeps soooo heavy.

nothing can wake her. sounds, loud traffic, lights, the smell of food. but when you sleep together, the only thing she is aware of is you: how your body moves in her arms, your breaths synced with her heartbeat, you attempting to slide out of bed in the middle of the night.

she never lets you go, even when she's sleeping. loud traffic, dogs barking, loud tvs, nothing could ever stir her when she's sleeping with you. and even when she's not sleeping with you, she only wakes when you get there. whether she sleeps in your bed, waiting for you to come home, or she falls asleep to the promise you will be over later only for her to wake when the door to her dorm opens, your steps following, only you (and the thought of you) can deliver her to slumber and wake her up from it.

and if you try to get up in the middle of good nights rest, she holds you until you agree to stay with her. using the bathroom or getting a glass of water is a negative when riri comes to sleep with you. she needs to feel you at all times, whether she's conscious or not.

it doesn't matter when, where, or how. sleep with you has become a necessity. riri even comes to your door after long missions at night. sometimes that's the only way she can rest after being ironheart: wrapped in your arms.
