something about march made rachel feel safe. with her mother constantly telling rachel about the awful things in the world, she seemed to develop an ever present sense of fear. with march, it disappeared. in all the fairytale books she read as a child, there was always a princess and the knight in shining armor who came to save the day. march was her knight in shining armor. when she would wake up in the mornings, shaken from the discoveries she had made before moving, she would instinctively reach for march. she wanted him to hold her and tell her that everything would be okay. she wanted to be there for him, too. he was so brash compared to her and there were things he did that she could never dream of. but she wanted to support him with her whole being. she wanted to love him. she did love him. it came as a shock at first. rachel had never imagined a world where the person she fell in love was so tumultuous. she had always imagined that a prince from a foreign land would come and sweep her off her feet and into a castle. the more she fell for march, the more she realized the fairytale romances were overrated. she loved march because he made every day different. he made her look at the world in a new light. with him, she was able to go and explore the world while feeling completely safe. after coming to emporia, she worried if she would be able to consider the town home. she realized that her home was with march, wherever that may be.
