At Dusk
Hera contemplates the changing pack and changing seasons
Hera watched the fading light of the sun streak its colors against the sky. Summer had come and the young ones were growing big and strong. Though Caelum and Ruslans start in life had been rough, nearly losing them the first night without the help of a stranger, they had been thriving in the bountiful Spring and Summer. In late Spring, they had met a pair of neighboring packs, the Goldstone Pack and the Goldentail Hunters. As a sign of their friendship, they exchanged gifts, one of them being a daughter, Moon, from the Goldstone Pack.
She was quieter than her brother, humble, but always ready for the next challenge. She, Caelum and Ruslan had formed a tight bond between the trio, never leaving each others sides. Though, that also increased their rate of trouble, keeping Eos and Farren on their toes. Rhysand, the scrappy young male that Farren had taken under her wing had become something of a big brother to them. If that was good or bad, Hera didnt quite know.
Rhysand, Rhysand. He was getting big now, when they found him, he was thin and frail. But under their care and safety, he had matured into a fine young wolf ready to enter adult pack life. She almost couldnt believe the scrappy kid they had taken in had changed so much in the short 3 months he had been with them.
As the setting sun touched the silhouette of the horizon, she knew what she had to do. Hera got up from her perch on the rock and made her way down to the den. Rhysand and the pups were gathered around Altin as he told them stories of his travels. They seemed particularly enthralled by a story of how he escaped a mother grizzly. Hera waited for them to quiet down and listen, which Altin picked up on fairly quickly.
“It is time for the pack to grow and accept Rhysand into our ranks. Rhysand, you’ve grown so much since you came here and Im proud to welcome you into the pack. Welcome, Dusk Sky.”
