Squatting down to his height he placed a hand onto the others shoulder. “Listen don’t be embarrassed over something so..minuscule. Your focus should be over something more worth your time. Rather than just hugging me out of nowhere.”

   KOMAEDA LOOKED UP at the other, then moved his eyes away, staring at the floor. he honestly thought this was a big deal. he thought everything was a big deal. he hid his face behind his hands, blushing hard. he didn’t know what to do or how to respond to what had been said.

Eveona was always the first to drop everything she was doing once she heard that Komaeda was in the hospital. It wouldn’t matter what she was up to, this situation would never fail to capture her attention. After all, she knew how ill he was. What sort of friend would she be if she didn’t come in to see him? Now, here she sat, staring at him with eyes that seemingly reflected the feeling of melancholy.

As he took her hand in his, she sat up a bit straight, looking down at their fingers. She was silent for a moment after he spoke, thinking a bit to herself before softly responding.

“ What is it…? ”

          ❛ i love you.    HE TOLD HER this quietly, not wanting anyone else to hear. if they heard that he was in love, they’d probably force him to do something drastic. which he didn’t want. he just wanted some peace in his last few days, or however long he had left.     HIS EYES CLOSED, but he forced them back open. he didn’t want to go to sleep now! he had to hear if eveona loved him back! he took a deep breath, which put him in a huge amount of pain, and looked down at his and eveona’s hands. he felt like he was about to break down, because what if he died right now? what if he never got to hear eveona’s response?

   BEING IN PAIN most of the time and not being able to get up anymore was the one thing that komaeda hated most. the only good thing about being bedridden was that eveona never failed to come and see him. he always seemed to be asleep when she came in, though. maybe it was just his luck? he never got to spend much time awake with her anymore, since he kept getting worse and more tired with every day that went by.     HAVING ACTUALLY BEEN awake when eveona came into his room this time around, he was able to spend a little more time with her. even if he was dying, eveona still made him happy. he moved his hand over slowly to take hers, intertwining his fingers with hers.    HE HAD SOMETHING he’d been meaning to tell her for the longest time, but had never gotten around to it. he figured now was as good a time as ever, since he would know if she felt the same way. in the short time he had left, every spoken word from her mattered.          ❛ eveona, th--there’s something i’ve been meaning to tell you for a while... i know i should have said something sooner, but, i didn’t know when the right time would come around.
