“Oh–! Dr. Osamu didn’t realize how close we were! His bad!”

Could you blame Osamu for not knowing though? He was so small, and the school was so big! It was quite easy for him to forget where things were!

Upon entering, Osamu looked around for a hand sanitizer dispenser. Once found, he immediately went to it and used it. This was mostly out of habit, and common courtesy. No need to potentially contaminate this room with bad germs, nope!

“Oh! That’s simple! Dr. Osamu’s Chichi is a professor of medicine at his University, and his Haha is the head nurse at her hospital! His parents inspired him to want to become a doctor, and they taught him a lot of stuff too! And Haha let him follow her around and help where ever he could too!”

Kousuke watched the boy use the hand sanitizer. Hehe, nice habit of his. That was a good step in becoming a doc! He was convinced this boy could actually do it and, should Kousuke stay long enough as a nurse, perhaps see him in action as an Ultimate!

“Uwaaaaah~ What a nice story! It’s almost like mine!” He answered in glee, eyes shining brightly once more. “I kinda have the same story, yanno? It’s my grandma on my mother’s side who inspired me to be a surgeon! She was one too in the past.”

“My first real operation was on my big bro... He had injured his arm badly while doing parkour and whatnot. It was really intense when it happened! It’s definitely different than what TV shows tell you. You’ve gotta stay alert and precise at the same time, it’s really tough. But I pulled it off perfectly~!” He seemed nostalgic about such memories, looking up to the ceiling as he recorded them.

14. Confusion

“…How the FUCK do you do that.”

Sousuke had just asked the contortionist to show him the extent of his skills. Sure, he had imagined his skills to be pretty good, but for him to be able to take such extreme poses… How!? HOW!?

“Your body is made of rubber. There’s no other explanation. I don’t understand how… And the way it…” He tugged at his own hand. “How the FUCK.”

“Yeah, you’re right, that’s my name.” He was surprised when he heard the story. Sounds rather impossible, but then, this is Hope’s Peak. Anything is bound to be weird here. If what he has said is true, he needs to find another place then. Just when he thought this was the perfect place to practice where people rarely come here. “Finding a new spot would be hard…” he murmured. “Argh, this is such a perfect place too. Sucks.”

Sousuke noticed the boy’s concerned expression. Sure, a lack of spot for oneself would be pretty tough. But since he was a security guard... He knew even the most secret places of the Academy! Places where nobody ever came.

“I have an idea for a quiet spot ya’d like.” He stated idly, already thinking of a well-suited location. “Quiet, not much people, and no recorded incidents as of now. If ya want, I could show you.”

But why wouldn’t he want to follow him? So with this train of thought, he began walking off and hoping the contortionist would follow suit.

14. Confusion

Something’s definitely wrong with this person over here. He claimed that he’s bad with remembering names, but just now he said the contortionist’s name out of the blue. Not to mention his full name!

“No, my name is actually Ramen Rufus. I don’t mind if you wanna call me Ru or Snake, either way it’s fine,” he then proceeded to find a place to sit besides the security guard. “Not much people know about this place, and there’s a lot of space, that’s why I chose this as my training ground. So don’t fret, he won’t be able to find us, this school is big after all. Although I’m kinda surprised how did you find me here.”

“Don’t fuck with me, your name’s Ruruisa.” He stated bluntly, not buying it this time. He found himself to be an idiot, but not that much.

“Well, since I’m a security guard, I need to know all the spots of the school, ya get me? I kinda like it as an alone-time-spot too.” He answered, looking idly at the sky. “But yeah, that place is pretty calm… In theory. I just remember it as the place where I had to fight a gigantic hamster set on the loose. Typical things, yanno.” He seemed completely unfazed by this, in fact. Did he have to fight worse?

“Y’know, like, the least busy spots of the school are the more prone to have dumb shit happening there. Like, away from everyone’s looks…”

Wow, this man reminded Osamu of his own dad in so many ways, right down to the sparkle in his eye and the general fondness Kousuke had over Osamu! It made the boy a little homesick in all honesty. Osamu made a mental note to phone his father when he got the chance. That would definitely cure the homesickness he was feeling.

Osamu giggled and fixed his hair and glasses while thinking about the man’s offer. The fact that he attended this school prior to becoming part of the faculty was amazing! It gave Osamu more courage to become a doctor as he already wants to be!

“Dr. Osamu thanks you for your offer. He doesn’t want to inconvenience you too much by steering you away from the nurses office…Would it be alright if you and Dr. Osamu went to the nurses offices to talk…unless you have other plans, in which Dr. Osamu completely understands.”

Kousuke couldn’t believe how kind the boy was. Whoever raised this kid needed a high-five.

“Heh, of course~ That’s so nice of you to think about me like that! But really, we’re just next to it... See the door over there?” He pointed to a door painted in white, with a large green medical cross on it. “This is where all the magic happens~” He mused, walking in its direction.

As soon as he opened the door, was revealed the nurse’s office. It wasn’t particularly large and looked like the typical high school infirmary at first glance, but then, on the back right of the room, Osamu could spot two large doors which seemed to indicate the presence of a hospital’s operation room on the other side, and if one peeked through the small circular windows, they would be able to see just how many tools there were within. Clearly worth the former Ultimate Surgeon.

“So, what made you want to become a doc?~” He asked the usual questions, quickly walking towards his desk and taking a seat. He looked once more at the clock. He still had more than 20 minutes, that could allow them a nice chat.

Well, this wasn’t a reaction he was expecting! Normally people are like ‘Who’s fucking child is this?’ and ‘Small child??? In the school??? How???’ not like…whatever Kousuke was doing. What a nice change of pace!

And…He was a nurse here? Did Osamu hear him right? Oh man, this was great! This was another thing he liked about this section of the school, there were so many medical related talents and people here then in the elementary section! (And as far as Osamu could tell, he was the only kid there with a medical based talent). 

“Yep yep! You are correct, Dr. Osamu is indeed from the elementary section. He is the SESL Health Period! Dr. Osamu just enjoys coming here because he likes reading the books in the library, and to visit his Oneesan, that is in this section of the school!”

Osamu reached out and shook the other’s hand. “Dr. Osamu’s full name is Osamu Ichirou, but you can call him Dr. Osamu, like he does with himself.”

‘Dr. Osamu’, how adorable of a nickname! Third-person speaking aside, this reminded him of his kid self, just a few adjustements in the hair style and scrap the glasses, and this was him! Nostalgia regarding the past days overtaking him, his eyes shone brighter than two diamonds under a moonlit sky.

“Uwaaaaaaah~ It’s a mini-me~!” He stated with delight, not hesitating to gently ruffle the kid’s hair. “You’re probably the most precious thing I have ever seen in this school!” He then added, standing up properly once more.

“If you want, I could join you wherever you need to go for a bit. I’ve got a bit of time in front of me before I start back work... After all, I’ve been part of the students once! As the Ultimate Surgeon~” Even if it meant going back to the library where he got his Freudian book from, he wouldn’t mind. He’s got himself a pocket-sized conversational partner! A good way for him to spend his break.

Another day, another time to go hang out at the Big Kid School! To do what, Osamu wasn’t sure. Maybe he’d play with Oneesan, maybe he’d go to the library, maybe he’d go to the nurses office and strike up a conversation with anyone inside. There were so many things he could do here, much more then what was available at the building for the SESL’s. 

Which brings us to now, where Little Boy Blue is also wandering around the school. Watching the big kids talk and do…big kid stuff. He couldn’t wait to be in this part of the school! He began to daydream…thus he wasn’t able to see the possible (and fairly common) collision with him and someone in the school.

But he stepped out of the way! With style! The little seven year old couldn’t help but giggle and clap his hands, what a performance!

“Ahahaha! Dr. Osamu find you really funny! He would also like to note that you are the first person who hasn’t actually bumped into him!”

Kousuke couldn’t help but notice how... Tiny the boy was! He was actually a child! Was he someone with absurdly high I.Q. or - No, wait, he’s from the elementary school section! Because talent even comes at a very young age, hence why Hope’s Peak Academy was taking care of little children as well, so they, one day, could join the Hope union and make everyone look towards a better future.

In fact, first thing noticeable is Kousuke looked quite older than the average student! But would that be noticeable from his youthful features?

“Uwaaaaaaaaah~! What a tiny little thing you are!” He looked down at the blue-haired child, giving him a bright grin. “You must be from the Elementary section, right? What’s a small little ball of cuteness like you doing around?” He couldn’t help but feel a motherly nature resurface upon seeing this small blue-haired ball of purity, a trait that could be traced back from his mother, Ayaka.

“Oh, by the way, I’m Kousuke! Kousuke Kondo, nurse of the High School Ultimates~” He extended a hand to Osamu, giggling all the while.

“Let’s see... ‘The Interpretation of Dreams’... Mmh. Could be a nice read...”

Examining the book he freshly acquired in hand, the surgeon made his way around the corridors of Hope’s Peak Academy. Today was a mostly quiet day, and this was time for his short break, so he could allow himself a bit of free time. Flipping the piece of literature around to read the back cover, he failed to notice there was someone else coming in the opposite direction...

Until the last second, where the surgeon gasped and quickly slid to the side, narrowly escaping collision with the other person. The nurse struck a cool pose after that, giggling childishly.

“And this is how you dodge obstacles with style~♪” Silly Kousuke.

“I had a nickname back when I was in the circus, it was Rattlesnake. Well, those circus members call me Snake for short, though.” 

Is that a mosquito? Holy fuck, how did he do that? The contortionist was certainly amazed. He whistled when he saw that incredible act. “Whew, looks like you still has that Ultimate Sharpshooter inside you after all. Thought you’ll be all rusty with those boring jobs.”

“Maybe you can apply as a mosquito killer if you got fired?” He chuckled. “ Since you finished doing your shift, wanna rest up for a while?”

“Snake, huh?” He pondered the nickname for a bit. Yeah, fitting for someone like him. He could certainly bend and twist like that one reptile. “That’s actually a neat nickname. Easier to remember than Ruruisa Raffranz...”

“Holy shit, where did I go and find that one?” Sousuke will surprise himself day after day. “That’s your name, dude... Right?” He had once more that expression of confusion on his face. Today was certainly weird event after weird event. “But yeah, that’s what I can basically do. Gonna tell ya, there’s not a single weird bug living in my apartment anymore. All gone.”

He eventually sat down.

“I guess it’d be nice to rest some. No way my cousin is gonna find us here.” He heaved out a sigh of relief, looking at the contortionist.

“Argh, where are all the students in this school?! Are they dead or something?!”

“With that being said, if you’re a Danganronpa canon or OC blog, mind liking or reblogging this so I can follow you? Please dude, it’s getting real boring over here. Damn.”

As usual, he was doing some contortions on the school ground, although the place was quite hidden from crowds. Since it was rather challenging, he took off his top before proceeding. He purposely fell backwards, bent his knees and used his hands to hold the ground, forming a bridge pose. He then rose both his legs and straightened them, forming a popular contortion pose, named the scorpion. He then heard a familiar voice from behind. He released the pose and stood up.

“Ah it’s the old guy,” he twisted his shoulder slightly. “I told you I was born with hypermobility,” he looked around his black tanktop, and wore it. “What’s up ?”

He rolled his eyes at the old comment, looking at the contortionist. 

“I didn’t know hypermobility meant being pretty much like elastic-man, dude.” He answered back, arms crossed. “Guess it’s just ‘cause ya the Ultimate Contortionist.” He always thought of people being able to bend their body to such extreme lengths were only seen in horror movies - the kind Kousuke liked. Thinking again, contortionist things are among the things Kousuke would certainly adore.

“Just finished up my shift... Today’s been especially annoying. Instead of having zero work to do, I had too much work.” He stretched himself some. “At least, could see my skills weren’t ge-”

He suddenly threw a dart at a mosquito that was circling around him for quite a bit. It landed against the nearest wall. One-hit K.O.

“...I wanted to say, my skills aren’t getting rusty.”

“Oh, you’re gay ? That’s rather unexpected,” Who would’ve thought that this cocky adult is attracted to the same sex. But to be honest, he doesn’t care. 

“Not yet.” he looked at the other, before adding more. “Well, I’ve hooked up with a lot of chicks, but none of them really interests me,” he muttered, remembering all the things he has done before. Those girls only wanted to fulfill their sexual desires with him. Since he’s the type of person who go along with the flow, he did what they wanted. “I don’t give a shit about having a partner. Maybe the time hasn’t come yet,” he shrugged.

“...?” He wanted to ask in what way this was unexpected, but then his phone rang, a different melody, this time.

“Welp, end of my shift.” He answered, putting back the phone in his pocket. “I guess I’ll see ya tomorrow, or in a week, or next century, or when the Earth explodes.” He stretched himself, before adding some final words. “I guess you shouldn’t worry too much about gettin’ love, yeah. I guess your knight in shining armor will come naturally or something.”

“...Who am I to speak anyways, I suck at love and relationships.”

He began walking off. “Welp, see ya later, I guess.”

It takes one week for him to remember his own mother’s name? His brain definitely isn’t sharp as his talent. He wanted to say that, but the other didn’t reply with an insult. That’s new. Probably it’s time for the contortionist to stop doing that. Well, for now.

“You’re asking me like I know how to make conversations. I’m not used to this,” he stared at the other, while walking on the same pace with him. Then, an idea struck him suddenly. “ Oh yeah, you have a girlfriend?”

“Another common point, then...” He answered, looking up at the ceiling. “Pretty odd two people failing at making conversations end up having one.”

He then looked back to Ruruisa upon hearing about having a girlfriend. He snickered lightly.

“Don’t make me laugh, now, dude... Girlfriend? Not for me. I’m better off with dudes.” He answered nonchalantly at the contortionist’s question. “Guess it’s personal preference, not like I can do much about it anyways.”

“What ‘bout’cha? Found your ~*eternal luv*~?” The last two words were said in a comically deep voice.

“Your names are too similar, it’s kinda easy to get confused, but I’ll get the hang of it, don’t fret,” he scratched his head, trying to remember all the names that he had mentioned .

What ? Yeah, he knows that his name is one of a kind, but to be honest it’s not that difficult to remember. “Damn, I wonder how you made this far in life with a brain like yours.” He walked closer to him and got nearer the sharpshooter’s right ear. “Ru- rui- sa. Heck you even made a nickname for me, how old are you, 80 years old?” He let out a sigh.

“Ru... Ruisa...” He mumbled, eyes closed so he could remember his name. “Heck, I took a whole week to remember my own mother’s name, so don’t expect me to remember yours so easily.” He tried to remember the boy’s name the best he could... Rui? Ruru? Risa? Ruri...

Oh, screw that.

“I’ll just call you Ru. You know who you are, anyways.” He shrugged, rolling his eyes at the 80-year-old comment. “In my head, maybe, but really, I’m just 24.” He explained, apparently dropping the sassy demeanor as a whole. He was probably tired of trying to get witty comebacks.

“Yo, dude, help me, I’m running out of conversation topics.” That’s Sousuke for you.

It was a slow day for the surgeon today. No catastrophes had happened in Hope’s Peak, nobody blew their limbs off, and most people only saw him for what people should see a nurse for: small sicknesses and whatnot.

In fact, he was about to ‘close shop’ as the clock approached 6:30 P.M. That is, until someone else passed the door. Welp, so much for thinking about the lack of people today.

“Hey there~ You’re lucky, I was about to close.” He mused, sitting back at his desk chair. “So, what’s making you a sad soul today?~”
