Progress Start-up Venture

As we are coming to the end of this course I am happy to say that I took it. This course showed me a lot of steps that I really didn’t know before. The fact that we are in a pandemic right now has sure put a lot of bumps in the road for I am sure all of us. My sales have been up and down depending on what was going on in the world today. I have learnt a lot about how I can handle things in such a short time. That is something I didn’t know before. Also trying to run a small business in a pandemic sure can show you the good and the bad.

I will continue on with my Epicure business and I am hoping for the best but as of today we really don’t know what to expect. I hope you can continue to follow me as I continue my Epicure adventure.

Week 11-Progress Start-up Venture

What is Working?

I ordered a few catalogs and handed them out. That gives people more of a vision than looking online. I am looking into getting Business cards as well to hand around.

What is not working?

The fact that people are still more focused on Christmas shopping Vs staying home and cooking. There is also a few new consultants in my surrounding area so that does not help my sales.

How do I feel the project is coming?

I think in general it is doing OK, could be a little better, but I do in fact think it will pick up soon.

What am I learning about running a business?

That it all takes time. Patients is a virtue.Things will not happen over night!

What am I learning about myself?

I need more patients. I should not be so hard on myself when sales are down.

Week 10-Progress Start-up Venture

What is working?

At this point not a whole has changed! I have tried posting my products on a new social media site, I will have to wait and see how that will go if I can get any new customers.

What is not working?

This time of year people are more focused on Christmas shopping and not eating at home. Most people go out shopping and pick up fast food or sit in at a restaurant.

How do you feel the project is going?

At this point I am happy with the project and how it is all going except for sales are down due to the time of the year.

What are you learning about running a business?

Running a business is harder than you think! Having a business is always keeping you on your toes. You can’t miss a beat you have to check all hours of the day. 

What are you learning about yourself?

I have found out I can do it if I keep on top of things. I still need to get more organized with my daily activities.

Week 9-Progress of Start-Up Venture

What is working?

By me posting daily pictures of what foods I have made with the Epicure products helps me get some sales. Also giving a person an incentive to get free products if they have a online cooking class helps me get sales.

What is not working?

Not having all the time to do more blogs. There are a lot of other consultants in my general area that post more than I do and there commission is triple mine, but they have more time to do so it is their only job they do this full time.

How do I feel the project is coming?

Sometimes I think it is all going ok than I hit a slow spot. I have a goal to try and have at least 3 party’s a month and sometime I only get one.

What am I learning about running a business?

So far just going threw the motions of this course has helped me understand what is and what isn’t. Why you need to do certain things and how to do it properly. I know you have to be on top of it at all times, no time to slack or sales go down.

What am I learning about myself?

Can’t be lazy and need to be scheduled. Organizational skills are the key!!

Week 7- Progress Start-up Venture

What is working in my business?

For the most part everything is ok. I think that me posting pictures of what I am making for breakfast lunch and dinner is what helps sell. I have had people message me saying that they are following and see so many delicious things than they order.

What isn’t working in my business?

One of the biggest challenges is the fact that there are so many other consultants and they are on the same social media sites so sometimes I think they get more sales than me.

How do I feel it is going?

I think it is doing ok, but definitely can do better.

What have I learned about running a business?

The biggest thing I have learned is there are a-lot of challenges and they can be very hard to overcome. Running a business is not exactly what people think most think it is easy but I now know that there is more to it than it seems.

What I have learnt about myself?

I have learnt that you can’t be lazy you really have to be on-top of what your doing and make sure your posting what is necessary. You have to grab the audience so you have to be consistent with your business.

Financial Resources- Where Will I Get My Money?

With my Epicure “ Join Heathy Eating Epicure Online Cooking Class With Lynn” I have been trying to do can be very challenging with all the competition. I have a passion for cooking so this is the reason why I wanted to start up this business.

I depend alot on social media for advertising/marketing. When I first invested in the Epicure business I put in $50.00 of my own money and and borrowed the rest from my spouse “Love money” I will pay that money back when my sales start kicking off.

I did not need to use Venture Capital or any government grants as this is not the kind of business I need to stock products. Most customers order from me online and gets shipped to their door or if they want to save shipping I do a bulk order have it shipped to me and I drop it off to them or do a porch pick up. 

Some of the disadvantages of being part of Epicure is the fact that there are a ton of other consultants in this business who have already got a  huge list of clientele.

Some of the advantages are we have alot of social media sites example Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and more. I use those to my advantage, I do alot of food blogging on those sites. I try everyday to post at least one post of  what i have made with the epicure products as I myself use those almost everyday.
