Don’t leave.

People walk in and out of your life constantly.  Just make sure that you don’t get too caught up with them walking out rather than staying. I am forever grateful for everyone that has been in my life; regardless of how long they stay.  I believe that people appear in your life for a reason, I try to look on the positive side.  I try to stay optimistic; even though, there are days where I am filled with despair.

In 2016, I spent the year rediscovering myself.  I travelled and met people from different walks of life.  People that I never thought I would ever meet, people that were completely distinctive from me, people that were simply out of my league. Yet, I was blessed with each person. They were good to me as I was good to them.  Every connection felt so pure and real, though those connections tend to end up lost. Those lost connections were somewhat bitter sweet because they weren’t entirely lost.

More than halfway into 2016 I met someone that I didn’t expect to have such an impact in my life. At that time I felt that I met him at the wrong time.  I was busy, I was too occupied for my own good.  But he persisted and I caved.  I would never bat an eye at this guy; yet, I gave him a chance because he was different.  I like to use the word different a lot, I want to chase after something different, I want to encounter something different; however, I never really knew what different was until I met him.  He was the opposite from me, he treated me with the uttermost respect.  He made me feel like I mattered; not only to his eyes but in my own eyes.  Nonetheless, time was so cruel to me at first until I actually made time for him.  I gave him most of my time, no time was ever wasted.  I only had a few months with him, it somehow felt forever.  Every time I was with him, with every conversation, it felt as if time was endless.  Even though it felt like I had a limitless amount of time for him, he eventually ran out of time for me.  We ran out of time.  I hate how meeting someone has to be at the right timing or else its filled with aching hearts.

“Don’t leave, shut your mind off and let your heart breathe…”

I never understood time or how timing has to be right in order for something to work out.  Young me would probably throw a fit and become selfish, where I would insist that he shouldn’t leave.  But I let him go, I let him choose the life that he wishes.  I let him pursue the things that he needs to pursue without me.  That’s when I realized that I’ve grown.  I learned to love in the darkness and not let it engulf me entirely.  I learned to respect people for their wants and needs; but, most of all I learned to be happy.  I only had a few months with this guy, when he walked away I realized that I had love for him.  I never told him, never expressed it verbally.  I just hope that one day when we cross paths again we can pick up where we left off.
