In Greek mythology, Terpsichore ( /tərpˈsɪkəriː/; Τερψιχόρη) “delight in dancing” was one of the nine Muses, ruling over dance and the dramatic chorus. She lends her name to the word “terpsichorean” which means “of or relating to dance”. She is usually depicted sitting down, holding a lyre, accompanying the dancers’ choirs with her music. She is sometimes said to be the mother of the Sirens by Achelous. Her name comes from the Greek words τέρπω (“delight”) and χoρός (“dance”).
Calliope In Greek mythology, Calliope ( /kəˈlaɪ.əpiː/ kə-ly-ə-pee; Ancient Greek: Καλλιόπη Kalliope “beautiful-voiced”) was the muse of epic poetry, daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, and is believed to be Homer’s muse, the inspiration for the Odyssey and the Iliad. One account says Calliope was the lover of the war god Ares. I commited myself to make a series post-post-post-modern, feets-on-the-ground muses. Keep in touch to see what happens.
