I adore the cold weather, though it means I will have to buy new clothes so mine do not freeze and shatter. Poor Fei, why does he hate the cold so? He would do very well in say, south America. I would miss him though.

He's never liked it. Gets chilled easily. Doesn't have good genes to give him a proper layer of body fat. *slaps own hips* Ain't sturdy like me.

But don't worry. He'll never leave this town. Not for good, anyway. He's all bark, no bite.

Animus nodded seriously, watching the girl carefully., and flushed with embarrassment over Fei’s behavior. He would be one to sabotage something like that for his own personal preservation. ”You are gainfully employed, though? I could possibly help you choose a program, there is a very well-reviewed trade school in the city, if you wish to learn something ‘useful’.”

She nodded. "Yeah, two jobs actually. Both give decent hours. I'm luckier than a lot of people, you know? Grateful for that." At the offer of the trade school she paused, biting her lip in concern. It was always easier to talk about big plans than it was in act on them. The thought of having to ask for less hours and sit in a classroom all day made her stomach queasy. If it was anything like highschool, surely it'd be a waste of time.

"I uh-- maybe. I mean, I need to figure out what direction I want to go in, right? It'd be senseless to just pick something arbitrarily and hope I like it."

"Ah, thank you for that." Kadar nodded, starting to lead the way to the train station. "He’s my first dog, so…" He trailed off, smiling sheepishly. He certainly knew how to take care of his pet, but living in the city with a large, high-energy dog was far from his area of expertise. "Anyways, it’s only a few blocks to the station. When does your train leave?"

"It leaves when I get on it." She snorted at her answer then proceeded to shrug. "I mean, I don't have to be anywhere specific, so I'll leave when I leave. I have the whole week to fret about being on time. For now I am a Flâneur~" She waved her hands in the air in a mocking grandure.

"His name is Sabri." Kadar said with a smile, giving the dog a scratch behind one ear which the animal leaned into affectionately. "He’s a total goof, though!" He laughed, remembering all the times the dog had done something silly or ridiculous despite his more regal appearance.

Lyrah giggled, smiling at the dog sheepishly. "Nice to meet you, Sabri. I'm Lyrah." She backed off a bit while Kadar patted his pet on the head. Maybe his man wasn't too bad. She definitely could have run into someone much worse.

"You should bring her to the dog run on 72nd," she offered. "Last year, on Halloween, they had a party for the dogs and they were all dressed up. It was cute."

"Not a bother at all!" Kadar chimed, keeping his friendly smile. She certainly seemed shy, and he could relate, so he did his best to make her feel at ease. He knew how it felt to get lost in the big city.

"I know how those days are." He said with a sympathetic sigh, watching Sabri for any cues he might give that he was uncomfortable. Sabri, however, seemed perfectly comfortable in this woman’s presence, so Kadar nodded. "He doesn’t bite; go right ahead."

Lyrah patted the top of the dog's head. The fur was soft, fuzzy, warm feeling. It tickled her palms and before she knew it, her fingers were trailing down the dog's back, running through the thicker fur that grew there. She patted Sabri a few more times, then looked up at Kadar excitedly.

"I've never had a dog," she admitted. "Never could afford one. Not like any of the landlords I've had woulda let me. He's nice, though. What's his name?"

To be fair, I usually do that too. But ah, mema taught me how to cook and clean and see and house-y stuff when I was younger. I was lucky that I got to take a few culinary classes at the community college. -places the bowl aside with the rest and starts on a new batch- I wanted to go to culinary school but ah, I’m a linguistics major. -chuckles- Hun those other bowls are cool, you can dig right in if you want. -hands her a plastic fork and a paper plate-

That's cool though. I mean, you've got skills. And you know what you want to do. I just, uh, work, you know?

And I am signing up for classes this semester, but I don't know where to go, what to do, what to study even.
