AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I have been waiting to do this for sooo longgggg, but i keep getting too much anxiety to do it (idk whyyy tbh) BUT (SPOILERS FOR ZERO CYCLE BY @evilgustofwind
I have been reading the AMAZING FIC that is zero cycle by @evilgustofwind, and omg i do need to vent just HOW GOOD THIS FIC. Nothing i say here may sound original as this might been opinions you might have read from others in this platform, maybe even much better articulated BUT it goes to show how much i want reiterate these points gosh my this fic is soo good. The characters are truly written to perfection to highlight the fic's internal message and narrative, and nothing shows that better than out titular protagonist Lando, we start off seeing him struggle with emotions of losing to max again in this universe's alt 2025 season and how his mentality has spiraled further into self-deprecation and hatred towards Max V, Gabi, the team even and no place to show it or even to process it in a remotely healthy way. Max F urges Lando to join the minecraft tournament (which brings up a whole another point i love abt this fic which we will get too), Lando is then introduced to OP81 (a faceless minecraft speedrunner much like many we know there) and omg does this fic take off from there, how Lando unravels and learns to love him (though doesn't believe it for the longest time even though so many in his life are literally pointing at it), him learning to navigate these new routines, these new things he learns about Oscar, the new found feelings he feels and how he came to a point where a life, hell even a day or a moment without Oscar feels grating and agitating. Lando's closet, Magui being his beard, there dynamic is so refreshing and enriching, along with Max and P, it shows the good environment and circle Lando has built to himself and how its a step closer to him learning to having better coping/self-care mechanisms. I am let to I would go on and on about how I feel about Oscar (him in any universe makes go ahahahahaoaOH-) so, anyway i really like this Osc, he makes me feel a LOT of things, the constant gabi sideyey also makes me cackle like a witch everytime yes, moving along- the minecraft part it makes also go crazy cuz if yall didn't know, which like everyone else in this fandom, i ALSO had a mcyt phase back in 2020-2022 ( i never left really but it was very strong then), but i was mostly contained to the smp earth -> dsmp sphere where i was there to see the theatre kid antics and insane lore building that happened (aside from the few minecraft mondays i would join to see techno in his element), so i was never present in the technical side of minecraft and knew much of the logistics of speedrunning referenced here but boy oh boy did it feel like a ride every time a new minecraft concept was brought up which i wasn't familiar with but still felt some sort of kinship to (it was unironically the concept zero cycle actually hehe) and TUBBO!! Omg my boi TUBBO!!! He has pretty small role in this but boy did i love watching my two fandoms collide like that, ahahaha
ALL IN ALL, it was a great ride from start to (eagerly waiting) finish and boy do i love this, there are many points about how much i love this i might i have missed and i kinda abandoned the literary analysis-y tone i had going on halfway through (cuz i wanted to gush abt my love for myct i had back in the yrs) but still know that this fic will forever be loved by me and i will cherish and might hear go on a diatribe about after the final chapter is posted. :)
