“I have date money! I helped Hem move stuff into her apartment.” And nothing broke! Miraculous. And maybe Hemlock gave Kit date money on purpose. “She’s a woman that works with computers and stuff.” Kit honestly has very little idea of what she does.

Kit also wonders if that’s a bit of a drag. Does Freddy think nobody will date him, or...?

“...I don’t know where to take her.” He runs a hand through his hair. “Maybe I’ll just do a movie and then see... Uh... See? No idea.”

“...You wanna see a picture?” Kit says, before pulling out a picture strip out of a pocket. It’s wrapped inside paper from an empty popcorn box, so it has no creases. Two pictures in a row of Kit and Sara doing funny faces. Her stealing his hat. It’s obviously improvised, because she’s in her work uniform, and Kit is dressed like Kid Eternity and that’s it. “They put one of those machines at her job. We tried it!”

While one of them shows the angel wings, the one without hat shows her horns. It’s evident she’s not actually a human. Kit doesn’t think it’s really an issue --He isn’t one anymore, anyway, if you want to get technical.

Freddy leans in to look at the picture. He can’t stop the look of brief surprise that flashes across his face, seeing the demon-girl in the photo, but it’s gone as soon as it came. His eyes are next drawn to the look of supreme, genuine happiness on Kit’s face. He’s relieved to see this, Kit being happy and having friends.

“ Thank Hem for me. ” He says absently. His focus returns to the photo.

In one of them, Sara’s arms are wrapped around Kit’s shoulders from the back. She is on top of him, trying to bite his hat off of his head but smiling into the camera all the while. Kit supports her on his back. It’s obvious that they have chemistry from the photos. Freddy is amazed by the sight of her, frankly. He never used to think about what girls Kit would like, but this one exuded feistiness.

“ Kit, she’s beautiful . . . ” He tries to find the words. It dawns on him that Kit trusts him with this. He doesn’t want to mess it up.

“ Does she treat you well? I wish I could meet her. ” He isn’t sure that he wants to meet her, really. He isn’t even sure what kind of dates demon-girls like to go on, and his advice seemed kind of dumb now.

" I mean, I wouldn’t. But you . . . It might look good on you. ”

Freddy thought he had reasonably good taste.

“I have a girlfriend now, I think…” Kit ponders. “At least I have like, a soulmate! I think!" 

He’s talking to himself, without answering to a ghostly nothing. Which means Keeper isn’t there. The Kid is alone, and, apparently, baffled.

“…Now… Now what…..”

“ Take her out on a date. And pay for it. I can give you some money if need be. "

Freddy advises. He knows Kit will need the money. From what his brother had told him, it didn’t sound like they used currency up there in Eternity. And his brother certainly didn’t have a job - not that Freddy was expecting him to get one, or anything . . .

“ I’m proud of you, Kit. I didn’t know when this time would come! ”

He replies with only a smirk. He can’t tell from Freddy’s face what is happening behind his thoughts, but can tell his expression is one of nostalgia. He carefully picks up a tiny snail on his hand off a plant, watching it move around his hand, leaving a trail of slime with interested curiosity. He lifts his hand upwards so the slug moves in its direction, moving its tentacles all over the place, having been picked up from its familiar enviroment, but the myriad of glances he gives his new world eventually cease, starting to move with curious normalcy.

At the mention of admiration, Kit pauses himself, eyes on the snail. He honestly doesn’t really know. Does he? Mostly, his emotions and thoughts on Keep are those of familiarity. He supposses he does, and he smiles about it. “ Don’t tell him that. ” Kit knows Freddy mostly has no way to, it’s mostly a joke. It kind of emphasizes the disconnect between Kit’s current life (So much of it Freddy can’t experience, or even interact with) and the life he had as a young child, running happily around Freddy’s life.

Of course, there’s also a disconnect to Freddy’s current life as well: There are a lot of things Kit feels but never truly realized, even if he suffered too. Poverty, grief, work, being the only child in an adult boarding home. Eternity meets his needs, so he was never and would never be in Freddy’s place. Thus, his brother’s tall tale falls right where it has to. “ I heard. You were busy as a paperboy. ”

“…” Should he be sad? He doesn’t remember it. “You’re right, I don’t.” His face’s suddenly deep in thought.

“I didn’t seek her out, either. She… Well. She didn’t know I died… Just that. You survived. Was happy about that, from what I hear. I didn’t want to… I didn’t want to break that.”

Kit was always of the idea that there’s the entirety of Eternity to talk to the dead again. It surprises him how he didn’t think much of his parents at all, the way he thought of his grandfather (Who chose to keep the secret) or his brother.

Disconnected, adrift, alone. Kit will thrive under any condition, but he isn’t anybody’s anchor, but the floating thread holding onto them.

Freddy watches the snail crawl up Kit’s wrist. For a moment both of their gazes are caught on the snail, but Freddy’s eyes flicker back to Kit’s face and in that instant, he observes Kit while he is busy with his thoughts. It’s clear to Freddy that Kit admires and respects Mr. Keeper, from the way he smiles when the man is brought up, to his lofty praise of him. And Freddy is glad of that, he realizes. It means that Kid wasn’t entirely alone in the world.

“ I won’t tell a soul, ” Freddy says. He smiles, acknowledging Kit’s joke. It made him sad that he was disconnected from that part of Kit’s life, but he found it incredibly meaningful when Kit chose to tell him about it.

In the disaster that followed the death of his family, Freddy was always finding small things to be grateful for throughout the day. Crumbs. Sometimes, they were all he had. Freddy knew what it was like to be lonely, from being the only child in a boarding home, and having to make a living in the streets. There was even a period of time when he was homeless. He wasn’t about to mention any of it to his younger brother. He had to be strong for him.

He looks away. “ Busy . . . Yes, I was. It made me into the man I am today. ” There wasn’t much more to say about it. At the mention of their mother, in Eternity, Freddy’s eyes gloss over a bit. He can’t help it. Every word from Kit is like a dagger through his heart, his very recollection of her is new information to Freddy and there’s a suddenness to that which knocks the breath from his lungs. Happy for him? Freddy missed her.

“ You were so young when she died . . . It feels that way to me, at least. ” Sometimes Freddy forgets they’re only a year apart. “ I don’t blame you . . . For not remembering her. ” Selfishly, Freddy wonders if Mr. Keeper replaced Mrs. Freeman in Kit’s life, and the family he left behind. “ She would have loved to see you. She loved you a lot. ”

They’ve stopped on a hill overlooking some wildflowers.

Hm. Kit wants to argue. Kid Eternity is a powerful force! He’d have no trouble anywhere, really.

But Freddy is his big brother, and Kit knows he’d worry (Needlessly!) so he slinks back into the couch. He runs his fingers through his hair (It’s starting to get a big long, but he feels no need to cut it for some reason) as he gives his brother a look.

“Fine, I’ll stay here until the sun rises… Or Keep shows up. Whatever happens first.”

“Do I really look that bad?”

" Yeah. You're shivering. That's not normal... I thought you couldn't feel temperature. "

It looks like alcohol could affect Kit though. He doesn't mention the need for a haircut, but that went without saying. He was wild.

hc? The reason why this account's still somewhat active and the freddyfreeman one isn't is that Freddy's overwhelmed with sophomore-year schoolwork while Kit, not technically being alive, isn't in school.

[ It’s no secret that my favorite version of this character is classic, but I must say, Jack Grazer essentially revived him for modern times. The New 52 and movie version aren’t my favorite, but the latter was infinitely better than the former. All you have to do is look at fandom to see this. New 52/Johns’ Freddy was always really unpopular while movie!Freddy has a huge fanbase. And he deserves it. Jack plays him in a really endearing way. ]

“ She’s... really nice, ” Freddy admits. “ Better than I deserve. If it wasn’t for her, I would still be living in a boarding home. But she treats me like a king. ” He lifts his shoulders regally.

Freddy is very grateful that Mrs. Vasquez took him in after after Sivana kept them in his Suspendium. By the time he and Billy escaped, Dudley was 20 years older, and Billy needed to find a new legal guardian. “ Come with me, this time. You shouldn’t be by yourself any more. ” Billy pleaded.

So they found a foster parent who was willing to take care of both kids. It had worked out better than anything in his life before, really.

( Whereas their parents got Freddy to learn music early –A subject he continued to self teach after they passed away- Kit never did: He was too unrestful and simply wouldn’t sit down or pay attention. There was a plan to get him to learn, too, but life works in its own way.

Freddy can play piano and cello, whereas Kit didn’t learn any instruments in life. In Eternity, however, he learns everyday, and one of the things he learned was how to play the harmonica.

His harmonica has a vintage design, however, it looks new. It’s a very old timey engraved silver. Kit keeps it in his zippered pocket, and busts it out every so often. He is very talented with it too! Also he prefers classic rock as a genre, and can play this. )
