logan shifts a little as he just gazes at her , clearing his throat a little as he nods his head. " it's just weird , there's something really unsettling about being here and i can't quite put my finger on what it is," he speaks quietly, shifting his weight as he puffs his cheeks out. the entire hotel was silent, and he doesn't think that's necessarily a good idea. he's stayed in plenty of hotels throughout his life , and now of them are ever silent.

         "and is there anything we can do about it? help you distract yourself or something?" she asked, unsure of the possible answer. it was like they were going to wake everyone up just by stomping the floor a little harder. "the silence is really bothering me." aimee laughed nervously, straightening her posture as she headed down the hall. "do you want to explore with me? it's not possible that we won't find a living soul in this hotel."

         "seriously that after everything i'm still going to need to sleep on the couch?" he asked in a tone of disbelief, almost as if he was frustrated. he hadn't seen her for months, he expected a different reception. "if your little visit was the problem, you could have let me know. i would look for a hotel to stay."

"guilty? no. i just... i don't know that i would personally be as forgiving as you are." though, charlie figured that she should know axel well enough by now. her eyebrows raise in interest at his words. "can we be friends? are you sure?"

         "i don't think you understand how important you were to me." axel was definitely not a forgiving person, who tried to keep whoever hurt him in his life so they could have the opportunity to do it again. but it was charlie there, the same charlie he imagined was his months ago. "yeah, i'm sure. i think that's the best we can be right now."

"Why  not?  If  our  great  grandparents  could  make  it  work  without  the  devices  we  have  now,  why  can't  we?"  The  frustration  in  his  voice  was  evident  as  he  posed  the  question.  "We  have  planes  to  travel,  phones  to  call  each  other,  and  even  video  chat  capabilities.  We  had  a  chance,  but  you  don't  believe  I'm  worth  the  effort."  It  felt  like  a  weighty  accusation,  but  in  their  honesty,  he  felt  compelled  to  express  his  true  feelings.  He  was  willing  to  make  adjustments,  to  rearrange  his  schedule  to  align  with  hers,  but  she  still  refused  to  agree.

         "do you really think that? that i didn't think you were worth the effort?" it was as if rowan, at that moment, was being attacked. in the first few months, when she knew that she would have to live in another country during college, she refused to end what they had precisely because she loved him too much for that. with the organization of the bureaucracy, the class schedules and the preparations for the trip, time was narrowing and the relationship was no longer making sense, the two could barely talk and rowan would never lock him in a relationship that was doing him harm in any form. "i knew you were hurt, but i didn't think you'd see me that way. it's a pity, cloud. honestly."

         "i was going to tell you." miguel tried to defend himself, letting out a heavy sigh. "i really screwed up, but i wanted you to have known from me. i could have apologized and maybe all of this could have been avoided." the frustration for what could have been made him anguished, irritated, but he had nowhere else to run. the way was to face the consequences of their own actions. "what do you want us to be?"

         the words were strong enough for axel to understand what he was doing. he hadn't realized that his actions sounded unfair and selfish like that. "you're my only friend now." that wasn't a justification, he knew, but it was the beginning of an explanation. "i don't think we function as anything more than that, we've tried, but i still—" he sighed, finally looking down at olivia. "i still miss you."

lips curl downwards a bit as he shakes his head , letting out a soft chuckle . "no , it doesn't bother me . i just wasn't expecting you ."

         "i don't blame you, i'm not much of a reader anyway." she allowed herself to follow his chuckle as she shrugged playfully. "i'm here because i've been invited to a birthday and i need a gift." it was still true, at least the person who would receive the book would enjoy reading it. "do you have any recommendations?" she asked casually, as if she hadn't gone to archie's favorite bookstore on purpose.

tudo bem. she hadn't even really registered it. there was a moment of embarrassment, a bright blush filling her cheeks, but somewhere in there was also a dash of pride. once everything was righted, she copied his actions, starting to sort the food and supplies from his. "thank you, sincerely." she said, lifting one of the bags, hiking it up onto her hip with ease. "i am sorry, i know you said it's alright, but i really am. i hope you weren't in a rush or anything." she said softly, brushing wisps of blond hair back behind her ear.

         "do you have another bag to put my stuff in? the one i had is gone." he asked, hoping the answer was positive or he would have trouble taking the supplies home later. "and i'm not in a hurry, i was just planning on making lunch with these things." he ended up shrugging, picking up her bags that were left on the floor and waiting for her to walk for him to follow. "my name is miguel, by the way. that was the best way i've ever met someone."

maybe one should call it faith, the manner in which she had tossed and turned in her bed for hours while unable to shut an eye. the culprit of her insomnia remained up in the air. maybe the unwanted effects of her late night cup of coffee, or the nerves for her audition in the coming days. the sudden knocks still startled her, but curiosity led to one hand rubbing the sleep from her eyes as the other turned the doorknob to reveal a familiar face.   “ miguel? ”   his presence left her in wonder, brain attempting to put together the pieces of the puzzle as to why he was there, but none of the pieces seemed to fit.   “ are you even sure about what you’re feeling? ”   gut feeling told her exactly what he meant to say, and she did not believe he would find himself in front of her door in the dead of the night without reason. but she needed to be certain. they had been down this path before, and treading such familiar territory knowing the previous outcome would not be without risk. risk of heartbreak she may not be willing to take, not if this was just more of his impulsive antics.

         the relationship between the two happened at a bad time for miguel. he had just arrived in the country and, despite his age, he was immature and ran away from commitments, especially when it involved someone he really liked. standing in front of hazal, listening to her ask him if he was sure of his own feelings, it was like a knife to his heart. "i need you to trust me." he didn't deserve her trust, and knew it, but he wanted a different ending to their story. "i can't stop thinking about what we could have been and it's killing me."

"desculpa!" it was a reaction, one that surprised her as she froze for a second. a glitch. "shit, sorry." she righted all the cans, moved onto pasta sauce and anything else that tried to roll away. "i wasn't even looking where i was going, i'm a bit airheaded today." she admitted, pulling another bag from the backpack she had tossed to the ground at the commotion. the lack of sleep, the impossible hours at work at the moment, and charlotte was quickly growing into her 'no!' phase, and she was thriving in it. especially at bed time.

         hearing the word in portuguese took miguel off his axis for a few seconds, it was rare to find someone who understood him when curses came out like that. "tudo bem, it's okay. shit like that happens." he tried to console her by realizing how guilty she looked for the collide, while still gathering the supplies that were scattered. he took advantage of the extra bag she had arranged to store the items, trying at that moment to separate them since he had accidentally gathered them. "i'll help you carry these things, the bag doesn't look very safe and should burst soon."

"i, i don't." she shook her head, ever so slightly, just enough to be noticeable. it felt impossible to give him a straight answer. every word she had ever learned to speak got stuck at the back of her throat, tied around itself into a large knot, not even air was able to go through. — malu raised a hand to her chest, "how, how do you feel?" miguel wouldn't have come all this way if he did feel anything, right? and still, how come she couldn't say it? she couldn't admit it? "i don't," she shrugged, "we are friends, right?"

         "yeah, we are friends." miguel began, stating the only thing they were both sure of. but he tilted his face to one side when, with an empty hand, he reached for his equal. he placed malu's hand on his chest and then laughed, only then realizing what he had done. he was really in front of her. "i think i'm going to have a heart attack any minute now." then he squeezed the other's hand a little, delicately, before answering the most important question about how he feel. "i've been dreaming about you every day, i've been dreaming about this moment, dreaming of saying i can't be just your friend anymore. i think about kissing you, malu. i think about it all the time. it's been consuming me."
