Well that was unexpected...
For a growing number of American kids, porn is their sex ed. Now Pornhub is hoping to offer their audience some more formal lessons in how to be a healthy and happy sexual being.
On Wednesday, the massive adult entertainment destination took the somewhat surprising step of launching the “Pornhub Sexual Health Center.” They’re hoping the free sub-site will become a go-to resource for some of their 70 million daily users on all manner of topics, including STIs, sexual safety and how to manage relationships.
They’ve chosen Dr. Laurie Betito, a renowned sex therapist, to direct the site and they’ll also be working with a number of doctors, therapists and other experts to offer advice and answer questions. Corey Price, Pornhub’s Vice President, told Mashable, “Our goal is to provide our visitors with a site that has credible and insightful information, rather than have them scouring the internet.”
While it’s a database they’ll build up over time, a first look reveals they’ve started with the fundamentals — with answers to things like “Babies. Where do they come from?” and “Are there really three holes?” These might seems almost laughably basic to adult consumers of hardcore porn, but there are a lot of young people for whom these are very real questions.
Price told Mashable they weren’t aiming the content specifically at beginners. He said they simply want to appeal to “those who are looking for trustworthy sex tips and health advice provided by experts.” But it seems like they realize this could prove to be an especially valuable resource for their younger audience, who most likely isn’t getting comprehensive (much less sex-positive) sex ed in schools.
There are, of course, plenty of online sexual health and education resources, but for many kids, landing on sites like Pornhub is already their way into learning about sex. Porn can obviously teach you plenty about the basics and mechanics of intercourse, but there’s a whole range of other things — biology, health, consent, relating to intimate partners, just to name a few — that you won’t pick up from watching videos like “Big tits round asses” or “Sloppy throat games.”
So if they can slide their curious audience over to the PSHC while they’re already on the site, it could function as pretty useful one-stop shop for filling in the blanks left by spotty sex ed classes and the birds and bees talks given by often bewildered parents.
Neat!
Holy shit their section on trans people was actually really good and not what I expected from something hosted by a porn site! If they had a containing various sexualities and whatnot as well, they’ll definitely have a good resource on their hands!
when a god damn porn site has better information about trans health than most school systems
I LITERALLY LOOK UGLY IN EVERYTHING I OWN HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE

Some Relaxation Ideas To Enhance Grounding
1. Carry a notebook with you and jot down thoughts (particularly helpful if you have DID)
2. Place a drop of essential oil on a tissue and carry it around with you, smell it to feel relaxed and it may help ground you. The most inexpensive essential oil is probably lavender and it is known for its relaxing properties.
3. Stay hydrated!
4. Look at photos of happy times
5. Emergency Banana - full of vitamins and minerals to give you a boost!
6. Good quality dark chocolate - Full of antioxidants for a little soothing pick me up!
7. STOP every hour - If you are doing work/homework or even just growing Tumblr stop every hour and take a little break. Check you are working productively and take a few sends to refocus your priorities.
8. Shut your mouth!! Vow not to talk for a short while a day… Maybe while you eat or check your emails. As you are silent on the outside notice how your inner voice/s remains loud. Try to calm that/them too.
9. Build in rewards - If life is full of demands build a “treat window” into everyday even if it is just buying a flower or treating yourself to a lush bath…. see where you go with it!!
10. Ask for help - If you are struggling and stressed with something, stop take a break, and ask for help!
11. Stand up … If you are sitting down all day stand up for a while. This encourages honesty and communication and relaxation believe it or not!
12. Set Goals - Set small and large goals for your day, week, month or year!!
13. Learn to let go - VERY DIFFICULT!! But if something is stressing you after a period of time has passed, for example an argument but it is too late or inappropriate to go back to it ….. LET IT GO! Keep working on this one.
14. Techno - Phobes Unite!! - TURN ALL YOUR TECHNOLOGY OFF (for a while!!) read a book, draw, write and just generally chill.
15. Plant some flowers or seeds - This is grounding and relaxing and can have a yummy or pretty outcome!
16. Detox your …. BEDROOM (and body if you want!) Have a clear out, send things to the charity shop, clean, hoover, dust, purge your bedroom!! It is surprising how good and satisfying it feels.
17. Shower Meditation - Have a hot or cold shower feel the water drumming over you let it work out any tension or preoccupations.
18. Be a tourist for a day - Go out even just to your most local town, visit shops you don’t usually go in, have an unusual snack, take the bus and look in the library! It’s surprising how fun and chilled it will be because you won’t really be anywhere new!
19. Customise clothing - Get some iron on patches or fabric paint go mad on your plainest clothes (let your little alters have a go if you have them!)
20. Make Mud Pie’s - This again is an outdoor activity that involves getting dirty and grounding. Just be a kid again and relax!!
Let us know how you get on, or if you have any ideas!
