I could use a drink
You stopped drinking? What brought this on? Well look at you being a complete sweetheart. Remind me to do something nice for you soon. I don’t always do that, so feel special.
A run in with some history.. mostly. I guess I felt like I needed to do better. It's kind of a long and complicated story.
The one and only queenie is going to do something nice for me? Oh thank you, your grace. It's so unexpected!
I could use a drink
Did I read that right? So you’re buying?
Yep, I'm buying. As you can probably imagine I've got some extra cash lying around since I stopped drinking. My paycheck doesn't go straight to whiskey anymore and I ain't got much else to spend it on. Drink up. You deserve it.
I could use a drink
Everyone at work thinks it’s asshole night. Don’t they know this is my world, they just live in it?
Of course they do, queenie. Now go on and drink for me. I'm sure the Outlaw has plenty of alcohol to spare without me downing it all. It's on me.
Hmm. I don’t know. I’m not really big on gambling. Maybe if you go down to the Outlaw they might play there.
See, the thing is I've been trying to stay away from anywhere that serves alcohol, so that might not be a great idea -- even though I miss the hell out of that place.
Could set one up at the Outlaw. Plenty of people would join in.
Not a bad idea, actually. There's just somethin' about playing with everyone there in front of you. The whole 'poker face' thing actually comes into play.
Is there any good place to play poker around here? I'm gettin' tired of playin' online.
Demons ll Dustin & Matt
Having Matt live in the apartment was strange. Strange in the way that Dustin had two Deltas in his home, one was his mate and one he knew little about. Matt had been living with them for a few weeks and the older male had still yet to divulge in any sort of back story that wasn’t something Dustin had already known. Dustin had been watching Matt carefully whenever Matt hadn’t been looking. He was so closed off. So distant. The Beta didn’t like not knowing.
It wasn’t until Matt had asked Dustin to get something out of his car that Dustin finally found a clue to the mysterious Matt. All Dustin had to do was to switch out the insurance papers in Matt’s car, but instead of finding just insurance papers in the glove compartment, Dustin found a small black box tucked away in the corner. Having just proposed to Evie, Dustin knew the look of a ring box when he saw one. He picked the black box up and carefully flipped the lid open to see that there was indeed a ring inside. Curiosity burned inside the Beta. Was Matt seeing someone the Sleuth didn’t know about? A secret like this kept from the Sleuth could be dangerous. Dustin may not have cared if Matt was going to purpose to anyone, but Dustin didn’t even know he was dating someone. Quickly, Dustin swapped out the papers and took the box inside the apartment with him. It didn’t take long to find Matt inside. “Matt we need to talk.”
It'd been a few weeks since Matt started living with Dustin, and by no means was it what he'd call perfect. Matt wasn't an awkward man, but he couldn't help but feel out of place here. Maybe it was because he didn't know Dustin or Evie, or because he wasn't used to living with anyone, let alone other 'bears. He couldn't help but feel like there was some sort of wall between himself and the other two 'bears, and not the kind he liked. He felt separated, not protected or guarded by the walls between them. The past few weeks didn't change Matt's routine much. He still spent most his time alone, and merely passed Evie and Dustin on his way in to the couch. A temporary arrangement, just for now. Or so he thought.
It was an average Saturday morning when Dustin approached him asking him to talk. Matt had just sent him out to the car to get something for him and he came back with a strange look on his face. He looked worried, maybe even a little angry. Matt wasn't one for confrontation. He froze up, his instincts telling him to run like he'd always done. It'd almost been a year since Matt got to Pickens and yet he still couldn't shake those instincts. No one had given him a reason to, not even the sleuth. He knew he'd have to listen. That was what being a part of the sleuth was about, or at least that's what it seemed like to Matt. Matt looked up at the Beta from the couch he was still sitting on. "Yeah, what's up?" he said, trying to seem as calm and collected as possible.
You Will Meet... § Matt & Trinity
Trinity’s eyebrows rose appreciatively when Matt finally pulled up in front of her current address. The appreciation was aimed both at the car and the man driving it. “You really are dark and handsome. And charming on your manners to boot,” of course where that last bit was meant to be sarcastic the first part was sincere and she smirked, sauntering over to the car and sliding in next to him. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up and she could faintly distinguish a strong musky scent. He was some kind of lycan too then. She wanted to say a ‘bear but she’d never met one so she was relying purely on instinct. Not to be discouraged however, she flashed him a flirtatious smile as she buckled her seatbelt. “Come on, what are you waiting for? Take me for a ride!”
The closer the blonde got, the stranger Matt felt. It was something in his very core, but he couldn't describe it. All he knew is that it wasn't good. As Trinity slid into the passenger seat Matt caught a whiff of what smelled like a barn. It was a mix of wood chips, dust, hay, and a lingering smell of sweat. Nothing Matt wasn't used to with all his odd jobs; he'd rebuilt a few barns before and even worked on a ranch for a few weeks about a year ago. This time it just smelled.. different. He could feel the adrenaline pumping through him and he gripped the steering wheel tighter. Breathe, he thought. It was what Mel and Vaughn had told him to do. Trinity had to be some sort of lycan, and this was nothing more than a test for Matt. It was a test to see if he could control the side of him that'd run his life for so long. It took a few seconds for him to regain focus, but when he did he noticed the blonde's smile and heard her comment about going for a ride. "Right," he said, reentering the conversation and trying to balance out what must have been some animal instinct, "We can do the small town shit, y'know, on the main street, or we can go around the outskirts. It's up to you, blondie." He flashed her a smile, trying to regain his footing in the conversation.
You Will Meet... § Matt & Trinity
Trinity was without a doubt excited. Where most girls might have been nervous at the idea of getting picked up by a man they’d only just met online, she thrived on the rush of meeting someone new. And really, who better to show her around than a dark and handsome stranger? Greatest way she could think of to kick off her stay here. Who knew, she might even decide to plant her stakes until the real owner of the house she lived in came back. But that had yet to be seen, especially in a small town like this. The future however, and thoughts about it were far away from her mind which was much more focused on the present. Her knee high leather boots, low cut tanktop and skin tight jeans were ready to rock n’ roll. A white leather jacket with red trimming finished off the look, and she pulled her hair free from the messy bun she’d been wearing it in, leaning against a beam on the front porch as she waited for Matt impatiently.
It felt good to be driving the 1969 Chevy Camaro again. Since the whole Table Rock Park incident Matt felt like he was on lockdown. He'd been living with Dustin for a little while now, and while he didn't mind Dustin, he sure as hell didn't like feeling like he was stuck. In the car he felt exactly the opposite; it was like he was free of everything. Hell, he practically travelled the country in it so it made sense. He was excited for today. Trinity was a pretty girl, but she wasn't just her pretty face. She had spunk, and Matt liked that. Margery would have liked that too. He pulled up in front of her house to see her leaning against a beam on the front porch. He leaned over and pushed open the door the passenger seat, "Well are you just gonna stand there all day, or are we gonna show you 'round this town?"
Yes, well now I know to say “Matt” when I mean “Dark and Handsome”. I’m Trinity, but the kind that makes holy water sizzle.
Anyhow, here’s my number, why don’t you show me to some fun around town, hm?
Well Trinity, you seem just like my type of girl. I'll be sure to give you a call soon. Can't let some other dark and handsome fellow get to it before me now can I?
Not yet, actually, guess you’re in luck. Do you have a name or should I just keep calling you Dark and Handsome?
Oh, that's a tough one. Y'know I like dark and handsome because I know exactly how you see me, but I'm sure it'd be nice for you to put a name to all that handsome. The name's Matt.
What about you, blondie? Got a name?
That would be because I’m new.
Ah, there it is. So has someone already given you a tour, or shall I do the honors?
Congrats, dark and handsome.
Dark and handsome? Can't say I've seen you around town before miss blonde bombshell.
Guess it’s time to make you the poster child on how to clean up properly.
At least it'll be a damn good lookin' poster.
Three months without a drink and I just went for a run for the first time in years. Believe it or not folks, Matthew Quinn is cleaning up.
