Greetings. We could like to make an announcement that chapter 4 story will be scrap and replace with a new story as to what will happen to both Nathan and subtitles, also apologize for a long hiatus. The host forgot about this au and start making Minecraft arg art
His eyes wide open gasping for air as he looks around and he was back at his office, he figures that each time he died he goes back to the first place where the story begins perhaps he should test something else like taking different path and see where it will take him, he didn't even realize that his whole body hurt from the last run he have. he remember a huge box fall on top of him crashing his whole body while the text was just there as if was looking at him, his hands roaming all over his body checking every part and it seem that his body is doing fine, no scar, no broken bone or no anything that hurts him.
he wonders what if he fight back... will that lead him to a different part of the story, he gets up from his seat and walk around the room adjusting his blue glasses
"What to do, what to do..." he looks up at the ceiling before he moves to the side and spot a locker near him, he got an idea. he walks over it and pulls the locker door but to his Surprise. it was just a bunch of paper files; note to self, clean it before use
he stands there quietly before he pushes it down, but he got interrupt by 'subtitles'
"What the- Nathan what are you doing!? you make a mess in your own- OFFICE"
he ignores the text as he keeps try to find something, there were so many papers on the ground he stopped as he finally finds what he wanted, a pen and a blank paper. he point at the paper and began to speak "wrote something down here I need to see something"
the room is now fill with silent.
"seriously?" subtitles texted. Nathan raised an eyebrow still holding the pen and paper in his hands "Just do it, it's not that hard" he rolls his eyes annoyed by this "can you at least just... DO IT?"
"no." subtitles type before disappears
Nathan groan as he throws the stuff on the ground in anger, "Fine!"
he adjusted his tie before pull the door open. the story continues, same as always with that annoying texts following him but as he reaches for the doors part, he noticed something is missing, the third door is missing.
"As Nathan came to two set of open doors, he enters the door on his right"
He does as what the subtitles text beneath him, every hallway he goes is always clean, no dust, no papers on the ground and no mold. but well yes of course he's in the big company building,
What even the subtitles hide from him? is he some kind of weird person that you always met in every office or is he just his hallucinations? maybe he will find out more about this 'subtitles' person or entity,
He can't just trust these weird texts out of nowhere, he must have to find an answer to this. Before he could thought of anything the text hit Nathan's head lightly
"Ahem, Nathan are you there? don't just stand there"
he snaps out of his thoughts, he realized he should get going but wait. why following the story when he can just disobey, it doesn't even have voices to yell at him anyway. He enters the door on his left with confident movement
he humming to himself, subtitles saw this and frown "Be that way, I only going to let you do this just once"
As he walks through the hallway, he noticed something has change on the wall.
The pictures are all replace with someone he didn't know, there's two females in the pictures and they are both holding hands, hugging and seems very close. the taller female looks like his own age, she has bun, a little bit of gray on her hair and wear blue makeup. she also wears dark blue turtleneck sweater with light blue suit, and she wear a blue skirt.
The other female, which is short has blonde hair, wears pale yellow turtleneck and brown jeans
It looks like they were promoting the other coworkers but all the coworker on the picture is cover with pit black square
He tilts his head and he was about to ask subtitles but doesn't have the words to say anything about it, and so he continue to walk as he reach to the room where their last run was, the meeting room. he pretty sure that maid could be still in the room if the game reset.
he gently open the door, he closed his eyes as he enters the room
to his surprise no one was in the meeting room, he sighs in relief he thought he have to meet with the maid again but lucky for him he didn't this time, before he started to wonder. did subtitles do something to her? or she just isn't part of the story? perhaps he should find this out more, but what a exciting protagonist he is, he needs something to do first...
"Hey uhh, subtitles?" as he was about to say something, a hand suddenly poking his hip which caught him off guard and make him shiver
"Hello Mister, do you mind giving me that brush on the table?" a soft voice spoke to him
he looks beside him as he realized it's the maid, he was so ready to punch someone off but luckily it was not some random person that poke him. He blinks before he shakes his head to snap out of it, he takes the brush and give it to the maid "here you go, miss"
"What kind of employee are you stayed in this company for the longest time?" she asks as she took the brush from him,
She smile softly at him. Nathan doesn't know how to respond to this he never have any interaction he have before (not the one on his first run)
He blink as he tried to not look too suspicious, "well, as you can see here ma'am, I'm just one of these regular employees" he chuckled lightly, adjusted his tie with a smirk on his face. His palms were sweating with nervous
the maid just stares at him blankly she didn't blink once and that's make Nathan feel unsettled. Subtitle didn't even say a thing or any of the story line but subtitles are their conversations'
ah yes, of course, he's subtitles not... narrator
he remembers the last run he have was that the maid run away from him when he approached her but... this time she didn't run away and she talk with him instead...
He decided to test something "hey, ma'am, i was wondering if-" before he can finish his sentences she's already vanish in blink of his eyes,
Huh
he started to feel suspicious that it has to be subtitles doing this but no...it couldn't be him doing this right? , he looks down just like how he did in the last run as he act like he knew that it watched him even if it's a text,
Minutes has gone by and he was already tired of it, he rolls his eyes in annoyed.
He sighs in disappointed as he walk around the meeting room, looking at every detail and notes everywhere before he walks up to boss's office, subtitles begin to narrates
"As Nathan Walk up to boss's office he walks pass the broom closet"
He past the broom closet as he walks up stairs to the boss's office
As he reach the room, he pull the knot and enters the office and- wait why the room looks different- the wall is red, and the floor is made out of dark wood, the other stuff look vintage such as the shelf, the table, the couch.
Nathan looks around in confusion "hey... is the room supposed to look like this?" he asked
"What? it always been like this, what do you mean by that hmm?" Subtitles answered
Nathan folded his arms "Maybe I'm just being too bloody ridiculous..." He roll his eyes
Nathan look around but the more he look into this room the more calm he feels, maybe this wasn't so bad after all
...
Subtitles stare down at the screen... He feels great and something else to have Nathan around
"...maybe I should try another way to reset the game for every adventure we will encounters that I've created only for him"
He smile softly, he can feel the energy to keep this up and wanted to get along with his protagonist and know him better without betraying any of his trust even though he knew he's the one who created him.
He wasn't sure how to go with this and so maybe another chapter they will get along...
A door suddenly open behind him
he turn and it was the maid who vanish earlier "apologies for my late arrival, Subtitles"
she apologize as she enter the room, closing the door behind her.
She look at the screen before stare back at Subtitles, she sigh
"you still doing this? I thought you will stop, you know he's old and definitely have a smart brain to figure the stuff out about you, right?"
"And handsome too" he said
"Ew, stop that. Disgusting..." She push subtitles away playfully while giggling, she know he were only joking.
"I still trying to figure out how to reset the game without killing him off every time... It will be traumatized for him if I keep doing that"
he wasn't sure for the idea, he adjust his white coat before spinning back to the screen,
he found Nathan were still in the room looking around
He sigh before turning back to the maid "say..." His voice low, his visor turn slightly purple "could you help me with... Something..?"
...
Nathan leaning against the table, tapping his finger on it as he look around the room, it was like he doesn't have any idea what to do in the moment
waiting for the next, he look behind his back and of course the computer isn't working before his eyes locked on the pass code key device on the wall.
"huh?... guess this will be easy and stupid"
Before he reach for the device a memory flash in his mind
It show him the last time he was in that mind eraser control room was someone knock him out before the reset.
He back off... Feeling uneasy before got interrupt by Subtitles
"Nathan, I think we should probably leave this room and maybe you know...change the story line perhaps?"
change?...no..
"Wait why- I have to go there at least and-"
"Nathan look, I might have gone rough at first... "
"You haven't gone rough to me at first you're just annoying" he told his arms, raise his eyebrow at the text
"Oh-...so you won't go into that room...?"
He stay silent... Before he reach the device again
he enter the pass, everything in the room started to change into its regional design that he was once in, the ground floor begins to open just like last time. He turn around and walk down stairs

"We will see"
As he walk down the stairs, everything look the same as he remembered the path he took
He run down through the hallway that he remembered very much, memory begins to flash in his mind... The hallway, the mind erasing center, the.. Person who hit him..
"Nathan, turn back now. I'm warning you! Please come back!" Subtitles begging him
But he ignored. he keep on running through the path
"last time, i remember being knock out and die... Bloody hell." he stop to take a breath... he can't run fast at this old age he's in. What can he even do about it, he feels like he was create this way
he decided to walk but that will be risky as he can feel that someone is watch him... from afar.
It's like it's not even subtitles but feels like it was him watching
The theme in this hallway feels like some kinda of horror and make his skin cold, but it could have been the air run through his skin
he almost reach to the mind erasing center and he speed up and run into the place without someone knocking him out but lucky for him,
he didn't get hit and he's inside the center.. he look around and it seems like the place is huge
what in the bloody hell...
he walks around... There were so many buttons and wires... what a mess.
the scent here smell like burning plastic NAD ashes, it was like this place haven't got clean in years
he wonder why Subtitles doesn't want him to go here and what's the reason in hiding such a things like this place.
then his eyes lock on the sign that said "main control" maybe there's a way to stop it after all or it couldn't hurt to take a look
after all, he was curios what he will find there anyway,
he cringed at the memory of him saying he can save the world of stopping on whatever is hidden here.
he cringed even more now as he remembered the way he act... he snap out of it and knew he shouldn't be thinking about the memory in his mind
He enter the main control room, what a huge screen there, it's like he's in some kind of secret government room that watch everyone in this building.
"What a nice room... But at the same time it feels weird, it's like I remember being here before" he walks straight before stop
In front of him show a numbers of his employees, the rooms, the place, and everything
"God damn." He freezes..
Suddenly there was a feet step behind him, it was loud that he quickly turn around but got slapped in the face
"Ow! What the hell!?" He yell but as he turn to look at the person but something caught him off guard
The person there standing looking at Nathan with frown on his face, it was dark and he can't see it clearly but he can see the person's body...
The person wear a blue turtleneck with a white coat and wear jeans... He looks again and noticed a card that he wear as necklace

and there he was, shocking to met subtitles in person
"Nathan, we need to get out of here. Now. I didn't model this place here for you to explore" he say as he step out of the shadow showing his face clearly
nicely comb brown hair with blue color that was almost mix with his hair, tan skin, blue eyes and he has a visor
Nathan was stun, surprised to actually face subtitles himself
"You're...my Subtitles!?" The surprise on his looks obviously show as he point at the other guy
"Of course I am your subtitles, and your sincerely narrator" his mouth didn't move but at least there's a text for him to say what's come into his mind
Nathan balance his body as he step back and adjust his glasses "of course you're person.. I thought you were some kind of annoying puppy text..."
Subtitles raise his eyebrow
"But you're just annoying person this whole time!" He shout
Subtitles sigh and tried to calm him down "Nathan, look... Let's go back and forget about this alright?"
He looks at him and feels like he was just teenager in their emo phase, he feel angry for some reason
"Excuse me. Go back and forget about it!? No how about we talk about why you have this building and how!? You treat this like it was some kind of a video games!"
He yell again, he was mad and start to feel tired of it as he feels like this doesn't suit at all and wanted to know why
Subtitles fear is near, he's afraid this will ruin everything "Nathan, calm down-" he reach his hand out to him
But Nathan slapped his hands away and jumped him, and so they begin to fight "why am I here!? I don't want to die again and again! This doesn't suit at all and what's behind all of these story you want me to do!"
He grabbed his coat before subtitles punch him in the face, he was afraid and not wanted to hurt him but he have to
Subtitles pushed him away with his legs, Nathan fall to the ground before he grabbed his arm making both of them fall on the floor together and continue fighting
Nathan was struggling as he get on top of subtitles but before he can throw a punch at him, subtitles slapped his face making his glasses fall off and turning around making him struggling even more "you bloody-"
Subtitles get up and run near the control table, he was scared and wanted to explain to Nathan without violence "Nathan please! I can explain when we get out of here"
He grabbed his glasses and standing up "get out of here? I think we don't need to get out of here to explain!"
"Jeez... You want me to explain here!? Fine" he tried to balance his body and almost fall despite on how strong Nathan punch him in the face
"I know what you were thinking and that's bother you. And I'm sorry"
"Sorry for what!? That's doesn't matter anymore, I feel like some kind of a moron right now!" Nathan yell at him even more
".. I'm the one who knock you out-... I'm sorry but this isn't part of our story and I have no choice- I didn't know I could actually kill you after-" subtitles tried to explain himself, struggling to phrase a words into the text
"You!? You the one who knocking me out!?" Nathan look at him... With even more angry but something stopped him to beat the hell out of subtitles... He sigh heavily
He walk closer to sub and sit on the floor besides him.. "...Why?"
Nathan asked him, subtitles regret about it and knew he have to tell Nathan but this will lead him to something bad, he take a deep breath "it's to reset the story. Each time you die I have to watch it and need to find a way to ... Restart, I'm still learning on how to code..."
Nathan look up at subtitles and feel disturbing about it "all this just because you don't know how to code?.. Wait. Are we in some kind of an actual game..."
He get up, resting his arms on the tabl-...

Both of them went silent... Looking down at the table slowly... Nathan lift his arm up... Looking at the button he just push.
"...What button did I just push?" Nathan look at subtitles slowly
Everything went black.
"Subtitles tell me now... What button did I push..." He started to panic before there was a timer on the screen
It was a bomb timer. Subtitles realized this and knew everything will be destroyed, everything he wanted will be gone and replace. He grab Nathan's arm and ran out of the main control room "it's a explosion timer! Go find a way out while I tried to stop it-"
"WHAT" Nathan's eyes wide in shock, he feel fears and even more panic, he doesn't want to end up like this. He saw there was an open door and run to it but sadly the door close on its own and lock him there, he curse to himself
He turn to look at subtitles but he was gone "Subtitles?" He questioned.. Odd, where did he go
He yelled out his name again but there's no answer. No. No.. He doesn't want to end up here and die in this stupid building with explosion, he struggling to breathe, he look at the timer and there's only 1 minutes left
"Nathan can you see me!" A text show above him, he light up a little bit, he knew there's gonna be hope for him "subtitles!"
"Where are you- did you find a way to stop the explosion?" He running around the room to find a out of here but sadly there's no exit.
"Nathan you have to die in the explosion- this is your only way, just trust me."
"Me dying in explosion!? Seriously- no you can't do this!" The anxiety got into him, everything feels unreal, he doesn't want to die like this he doesn't, should he trust subtitles to just let himself die here- no he doesn't... His breath become difficult, his arms start to shake
"Nathan!"
"Just trust me!"
"You won't die!"
"I promise you!"
24 second left.
"look to me!"
Nathan look at the text but can't hardly see, everything is blurry, he noticed there's a lot of button around here but he feels like all these buttons are useless
14 second left.
he look at the timer... Is it true that subtitles say he won't die? Is it true?... Or was he lying just so he can feel better about it.. He walk to the door that was lock and tried to force it open while struggling
He realized.
If he didn't go here. Everything could be different. He could've choose different path.
