i was just talking to my friend last night about how dark and colorless the live action is probably gonna be ((who’s surprised) ALSO DID YOU SEE THEY’RE USING FUCKING BLUE FLAGS IN CORONA??? WALTER WHITE WHY ARE YOU BLUE CLIP HERE))
Anyways one detail i really like and was bringing up is the lighting in rapunzel’s tower….. and im in the “insane about this movie” building im sure people have noticed this before i just like talking abt it so i wanted to. because i think Everyone notices that the tower becomes darker and grittier after rapunzel leaves, because its a VERY significant shift, but the lighting actually Always shifts based on who’s in the tower with her, its just more subtle at first.
from the start of the movie the lighting in the tower shifts in a way that displays to you how comfortable rapunzel feels there, and when it most feels like home. its brightest when rapunzel and pascal are alone, and darkest when gothel is there. gothel is basically always in low light or shadow!!!
(rapunzel alone with pascal, light is basically shining from every direction)
(eugene first enters, the tower is shrouded in shadow)
(after she knocks eugene out. the light is more focused but its overall still pretty bright)
(gothel enters, the tower is IMMEDIATELY shrouded in shadow again.)
and i really like especially how despite eugene being a complete stranger, someone rapunzel was taught to fear, once she knocks him over the head she feels confident and safer, so the scene brightens up again. its still brighter when he’s there compared to when gothel is, she feels safer with a stranger she knows she can overpower than her own “mother”
A movie that was a love letter to Art and Animation, but wheres the letter in it's remake? In shreds on the directors from the animated films desk because it's no longer appreciate.

It's such a bummer that the movie set looks so dull because the original movie was a love letter to Disney's art according to the bts and the art book because it was there 50 film and they wanted to celebrate how far there animation had gotten, the team took inspiration from past films, hence why the movie is so colorful and all of it being symbolic too, it seem very insulting to make live action and dull😭 and I also feel the same about the flags I knew it was over for the movie when I saw that they switched the colors of the flag from purple and yellow to blue and yellow, like ik it's not a big deal but PURPLE AND YELLOW MAKE MORE SENSE TO PUT TOGETHER BECAUSE THEY WERE COMPLEMENTARY COLORS!! AND WHY DOES THE SUN ON THE FLAG HAVE A FACE IT'S A FICTIONAL STORY WHY ARE THEY TRYING TO MAKE IT REALISTIC. Sorry I'm a really big fan of this franchise (count me in the "insane about this movie" building) but I don't want what's already gold to be redone, I want something new, not reused, I'm REALLY passionate for Rapunzel and it makes me sad that they don't seem to see more in her story other then retelling it and probably gonna add a plotline or stuff that doesn't make sense for her character.
The creatives deserve so much better than what Disney's making them do.
LITERALLY… it seems luckily i heard smthn abt how the blue is probably gonna be color corrected later and its something about purple being hard to capture on film which is good but it sucks that thats like a good thing like were getting the bare minimum AJDJAJFMFSMG 😭😭 Its still so dull and i dont expect it to be a 1 to 1 remake but its so Empty. Also more importantly what the fuck is this
Oh phew(ik I'm so dramatic), good to know that they may change it back but yeah it sucks that we are only getting the bare minimum, also, yeah what the fuck are they doing to her 😭😭 it took me a second to realize that was her, I guess Eugene did commit to giving her a clean haircut but he died😭😭 oh it's so dull 😭😭
